Stay True Clothing Company
Established in early 2010, Stay True Co. is a clothing and accessory brand looking to inspire the world. Through selling clothing, accessories, and other merchandise with the mission, they look to inspire the inner being through positivity and enlightenment of oneself. Most of the messages can be interpreted through the artwork, otherwise the concepts behind them. Kyle Stalla, the owner and founder, was first inspired to design by a graphic design course he took in high school. After putting up with the hardships of learning design, and almost giving up, he advanced to the next class where he learned to design and print his own work. The focus of the company's clothing isn't to look “cool but instead to carry a message. The message they create is known before the design is even made. They give out a great, positive message while still being fashionably appealing.
Stay True Clothing Company differs from other clothing companies in many ways. The clothing has a focus on positive messages rather than a focus on being trendy. Some of the shirt designs include “Stick To Your Roots,” “Live Your Life,” and “Change The World.”
“It’s not just a business for me, it’s become a part of my life. I learn from it everyday.” He told us. The designs you find from this company are amazing, and so is the true meaning of the company itself. You can check out the designs online at www.staytrueco.com
Warped Tour 2013
I See Stars happens to be the first band I ever saw live, back at a tiny music venue where they played with Dance Gavin Dance when Jonny Craig was in the band. Seeing them years later, playing Warped Tour, was absolutely amazing. They improve every time I see them, and so does Zach's vocal performance. He's always been entertaining to watch and he's always been my favorite vocalist. They recently put out an album in October, “New Demons, which is absolutely incredible. They are currently about to go on tour with Attila, Ice Nine Kills, and more. They're a band you don't want to miss. Their stage performance and lights in an indoor venue are incredible.
Bring Me The Horizon put on a wonderful performance. Oli Sykes' love for his fans showed within seconds of starting. He immediately jumped to the crowd and managed to go back and forth between the crowd and the stage for his entire performance, even jumping in to the crowd and being carried away a few times. The band sounded amazing life, just like you were listening to it on the album. The fans went so hard that after one song, all press was escorted from the photo pit for safety.
Like Moths To Flames was the band playing when I walked in to Warped Tour, and one of the reasons I went. Luckily, I got there as I started. Their performance was heavy, and their crowd grew with each song until it was hard to move in the back. The crowd jumped, moshed, and sang along with their relatable lyrics. Like Moths To Flames is about to tour with The Plot In You, For Today, and more.
Blessthefall was another band that I looked forward to finally seeing after listening to them for years. Senior year, their album “Witness” was the only album I would listen to on car rides. I was first introduced to their music in 2006, when someone showed me “Guys Like You Make Us Look Bad” and fell in love with their music. Their guitarists are very entertaining to watch live, and Beau, their vocalist, can't seem to stay in one place, moving around on stage and to the crowd.
Seeing We Came As Romans is always a pleasure. Their live performance is just as amazing as every album they've released. Watching them grow as a band and their music just keep getting better is an amazing experience.
The release of the Attila album, “About The Life, made me more of a fan of the band than I was before. I thought the entire album was incredible and some of the best work yet, with a better recording quality and better sound. Seeing them perform at South By So What was amazing, and seeing them again on their sold out headliner was great, too. Their crowd was always wild and they're never dull to watch.
The Plot In You put on the heaviest performance I've ever seen. The first thing to catch my eye was Landon's shirt, then the fake dead girl hanging from his microphone. I love the lyrics that this band writes and the heart that they put in to their music. They make themselves completely stand out from everyone else.
Secrets is a band I've seen with their previous vocalist and their new vocalist, and I prefer their new vocalist. His screaming vocals are heavy and fit perfectly with their band. Their new album is inspiring and hits close to home for some people. The band is incredible to see live and put on an excellent performance each time.
Capture The Crown has been a band I've enjoyed since their first song release years ago. I love their style and their music and as people, they're actually some of the coolest guys I've met. I'll continue to stick by their side and listen to their music and I enjoy their newest release.
Local Chicago band, This City Falls, is tearing up the local scene and played the local date of Warped Tour this year. Check out their music online and if you ever get the chance, see them live.

South By So What?! Music Festival Picture: Motionless In White, Spring 2013 The best festival of 2013 instantly went to South By So What. The set up was the first thing to catch my attention. Three stages, all nearby, with the stages split in two so one band can set up while the other can play. Being a photographer, the set up made everything easy with little movements. The merchandise tents were all placed at the top walkway where people entered, making it easy and making all the bands near each other in one place. The food was delicious with different options for food. The baseball field restaurant even held an after party for Djs and other smaller acts. The tickets have many different packages, including various VIP treatment packages with different perks. This year, they introduced a new package that includes a hotel stay for out of town guests, making them stand out even more. The festival is worth any trip you have to make. Their line-up is always amazing and so is the environment all around.
