By Serena Brown

e love this time of year because the moon rises over the top of our hill like a giant neon sign on the horizon. Our trails need no extra lighting other than the moon. This is a beautiful time of year to hang out at TMR and get to know our hard working team members. We had a great time, an awesome crowd and amazing artists at the Solano Records and Gillaman Beats Globtoberfest on October 4th. On October 18th the beautiful Folk Me Festival had a wonderful crowd with many great artists. The Music Ranch, Scott V with Vendetta

Records and Russell Lee are teaming up to develop Russell Lee Productions, a studio for all genres that will produce the baddest beats in Austin. We are so happy to have Russell Lee, a platinum record producer, as part of the TMR family. Its going to be epic. For studio time or beats contact Russell Lee @ 512.486.0465 Vendetta Record’s first signed artist is our TMR brother Rasta Rebel. Also we welcome John Scherling as TMR’s executive producer. As always we are forever thankful for all of the hard work our TMR family has put into our vision.

RIP BB The baddest bitch! She gave me 13 wonderful years of love and companionship. Her soul will live on this land forever. She was truely the best dog that was ever at my side.

Interview with Winston Cave J How did you hook up with The Music Ranch? We hooked up with the Music Ranch through our friend Angus and his network. He threw a small scale festival called Folk ‘Em Fest which brought out a very intimate, good energy crowd and a good number of local musicians and some out of town. We were blown away by the venue once we stepped foot on it, and after we played our set we were lucky enough to meet Gino, Russell Lee, and others associated with The Music Ranch. J What is the history behind your band? The band started off as a solo project with Tyler Rosenkranz on guitar and vocals. Around 2012, he lived at Pearl St. Coop, a student cooperative living space and began jamming and piecing together parts with our drummer Peter Farago and our bassist Mike Leberknight. Alan Nguyen. the violinist frequently visited the coop for parties and events and even caught them playing a show there once. Mike and Alan grew up in the same town right outside of Houston and became friends in high school, and ended up gravitating around each other while living in Austin and playing music together. Mike and Alan decided to be roommates in 2013, and the Winston Cave project revitalized early

2014 when Peter and Tyler began hanging around and jamming. Alan began to write violin parts for the songs that were already existing and we began continuing writing more songs together and things just clicked. Soon both Peter and Tyler needed a place to stay, and our other two roommates were leaving, so we all decided to live in the same house and continue the project and keep making music and hustling out our sound.

J What genre is your music? We are still having a hard time giving a concrete classification of the genre of our music. It really fits in with a kind of bluesey, aggressive, folk kind of style, but we travel quite a few places with our styles. I think It ends up being a mix and fusion of our individual styles, which range from blues guitar,

a funk influenced bass, a jazz influenced drummer, and a classical/folk influenced violin to create something unique.

J How are you collaborating with Gino and The Music Ranch? With Gino and the Music Ranch, we are helping them build up their music studio, rehearsal space, and to help build up a strong community around the Music Ranch and ourselves. We are helping Russell Lee, a producer with past platinum records under his belt hand build a studio which we will be recording out of, and work hand in hand with him for our produced sound. Gino and his crew are here for us to give us a really great creative space to work out of, and a strong network to back us up, and we are really excited to be a part of building this space and have the opportunity to create really cool, creative stuff. We really want this to be a musical oasis and home for ourselves, as well for other future talents that come along. We want to help fulfill the grander visions behind Music Ranch, not only with our own music, but to help and be a part of their events, community service, and all the different parts which makes this place great. themusicranchatx1@gmail.com 512-574-2767

About Dan and Elyse Yates: Dan Yates, Co-Founder of LoudMouth Rentals, grew up in Lubbock, Texas where he started playing in rock and roll bands in junior high. In the mid‘80s he played guitar for Eddie Beethoven and the Sons of Fun whose recordings were produced by his friend and hero Lloyd Maines. Eddie Beethoven wrote some of Joe Ely’s most popular songs like “Cool Rockin’ Loretta” and “Don’t Put a Lock On My Heart.” Dan moved to Austin in January of 1989 chasing Elyse Gilmore (now his wife Elyse Yates). In the early to mid-‘90s, in addition to his

own band The Lords of Love, he has toured with his father-in-law Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Monte Warden. Dan then went on to earn a degree in civil engineering and work in water resources and river management until starting LoudMouth Rentals this year. Dan currently plays in a band with his friends called the Everydudes, and they just recorded and released a record for their old friend Eddie Beethoven. Elyse Yates is the Co-Founder of LoudMouth Rentals and Founder and CEO of Influence Opinions, a marketing communications firm specializing in digital strategies. She grew up in the Austin music scene, underfoot while her mom, Jo Carol Pierce, and her dad, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, played and performed. Her career includes launching the Daimler car sharing service car2go in Austin and the U.S. market, national work for the ASPCA, ACA enrollment for Central Health, CD launch for the Hill Country Conservancy including partnerships with Amy’s Ice Cream and Waterloo Records, and Seton Health Care System among others.
