Rosemont College Online Magazine February 2017 COVER STORY
Meet the Voice of ROCO At Rosemont, we take “showing a little love” around Valentine’s Day quite seriously. Not only does it help ward off the February chill, it allows the College community to recognize the great gifts we have in each other. In keeping with Cornelia Connelly’s thinking that each one of us has been given unique gifts and talents by God, we asked members of the College community to write of the mixing of various Valentine’s Day is the result tributes and ‘love notes’ to the people who There is evidence faiths, traditions, and legends. a is derived from make their Rosemont experience special. that, while the holiday’s name find ly ual act y ma y We were overwhelmed by the gratitude, cheer, Catholic saint, Valentine’s Da y of Lupercalia. its origins in the pagan holida and sincerity of the messages submitted to greetings And while the custom of sharing to the everyone from our faculty to our housekeeping and sentiments of love dates ’ tine len ‘Va staff. I want to give a shout out to the “POWER of small” – to everyone in the Rosemont community who works with each other, laughs with each other, and especially helps each other. I love it that I can walk across campus and everyone – really, everyone --will say “hi” to me, and to everyone else! (of course the best part is that I get to say “hi” back!) – President Hirsh

We have designated February’s ROCO as a venue to show a little love to the Rosemont Community. Take some time to read how people have made a difference in the lives of others at Rosemont. It is never too late for you to pay a compliment. Did you know March 1 is World Commpliment Day?
Shoutout to: Rosemont College I started working for Rosemont College in October of 2011 as a patrol officer in the Public Safety Department and quickly fell in love with the environment and people. I love the small size of the College. It has allowed me to get to know many of the students, faculty, and staff by first name. ROCO has a way of getting inside of you and not letting go. . . many who graduate stay on board and become employees. Rosemont College means FAMILY, FRIENDS, HAPPINESS, and a SENSE of BELONGING. Matthew S Baker Director of Public Safety

Did you know that since 2009 over $10 million in charitable bequests have been contributed to Reflect | Renew | Rejoice: The Campaign for Rosemont College?
Did you also know that the average bequest size was slightly over $100,000, and that many were $5,000 or $10,000? In other words, a bequest is a simple act with impressive consequences!
Allow us to introduce three alumnae who know the pleasure of a promise of Charitible Bequests.

ETHICS AND EMERGING
9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 The Rotwitt Theater of the McShain Performing Arts Center Rosemont College, Bryn Mawr, PA
The past decade has witnessed ever-increasing advances in innovative medical technologies including gene-editing, robotic surgery, novel pharmaceuticals, 3-D bio-printing and other forms of personalized medicine. As is often the case with emerging technologies, the potential benefits come with a host of ethical questions concerning their development and implementation: Does altering the human germ line cross a moral threshold? Is “human enhancement” a moral imperative? Will access to such technologies and treatments be problematic for certain social, economic, and racial groups? How will healthcare policy take into consideration the widest possible range of stakeholder perspectives?
