MAIN HALL – View our GCSE Art Exhibition in the foyer and listen to the Headteacher’s Address at 6:15pm, 6:45pm or 8.00pm. SEN, Skills Centre & Student Support – The Skills Centre is the hub of the SEN Department and is where pupils are supported in small groups or 1:1. Ask here for details of Homework Club, in-class and withdrawal support. SCIENCE - a wide variety of activities from the Science curriculum are on display in the ground floor Science labs. There are lots of “hands on” activities for you to take part in, so come and try!
MATHEMATICS We have a quiz and a range of challenges for you to try, including ICT-based activities. There will also be books from Key Stage 3 for you to peruse. THE LEARNING RESOURCES CENTRE (LRC) Guided tours start from the LRC. Our Year 10 and 11 pupils will answer your questions as they show you around. An extensive range of fiction is available for pupils to borrow, together with non-fiction to support both the Key Stage 3 & Key Stage 4 curriculum. The centre is popular with pupils for personal study during break, lunch and after school. LRC – HUMANITIES SUBJECTS HISTORY– “The farther backward you can look the farther forward you are likely to see” Churchill. Come and find out why the past is important in understanding the world today.
RS Pupils’ work is on display as well as artefacts from major world religions studied at Rodborough. We will be playing Jewish Dreidel games and making Japanese Ema boards. Audio-visual resources used in lessons will be also be demonstrated. FOOD TECHNOLOGY Feeling peckish? Look in on pupils preparing snacks time your arrival right and you may be able to try a free sample! Students from both Key Stage 3 and 4 will be demonstrating their cooking skills as well as showing their understanding of food and nutrition. ART Art work from all years is on display in the Art studios 201 & 202 and in Room 105. You can watch lower school pupils using a range of skills and GCSE pupils working on coursework. Don’t miss our exhibition of 2012 GCSE coursework and exam pieces in the Main Hall Foyer.
GEOGRAPHY – Come and take part in a range of activities and speak to pupils about the work they are doing in Geography. ‘The Capital’ – our DINING HALL run by catering company, Innovate, will be open for business between 6:00pm and 8:00pm selling a range of hot and cold food, drinks and snacks. MUSIC - There the Capital: Clarinet Choir String Group Vocal Group Wind Band Jazz Band
will be a “rolling” concert of music in 6:15pm – 6:40pm 6:40pm – 7:00pm 7:00pm – 7:15pm 7:15pm – 7:30pm 7:30pm – 8:00pm
Year 10 students will be working on their music compositions using computers and will be happy to demonstrate the programme in Room 403.
COMPUTING Join Key Stage 3 students light-sabre fighting with robots, programming interactive games, manipulating sound and more. BUSINESS STUDIES - Ask our students about this GCSE course. A variety of GCSE resources will be on display. ENGLISH - Look at examples of pupils’ work and join in the language activities and games being demonstrated. Chat to pupils about the way theatre trips and our interactive website bring studying English to life. LANGUAGES - Come and be entertained by pupils speaking French & German. Watch as pupils learn and practise their language skills using the Smartboard. Books, resources, excursion pictures and pupils’ work are also on display. DESIGN and TECHNOLOGY Watch our laser cutter in action and take home a souvenir of your visit. See students working in the Graphics room (603). Visit the main workshop (604) where students from all year groups are working on a variety of Resistant Materials projects. Come and watch Year 11 pupils Junky Styling (recycling old clothes) in Room 606 where Year 10s will be demonstrating appliqué and other decorative techniques. PHYSICAL EDUCATION - Pupils will be demonstrating GCSE volleyball, trampolining and netball in the sports hall and, on the all-weather court behind the building, Year 7 will play football. DRAMA - Come and watch pupils participating in a workshop in the drama studio. DVDs and photographs of past productions and GCSE coursework can be viewed in adjoining rooms.

The Headteacher, Mr A C Smith, will speak to prospective parents and their children in the Main Hall at 6:15pm, 6:45pm and 8:00pm. A bell will sound 5 minutes before the start of each session. Questions concerning the curriculum will be addressed by Mr Elkins in Room 204. He will be available throughout the evening in the Maths area. Transport Issues can be addressed by Mr Ewing. He will be available throughout the evening in the LRC with the Geography Department.
