International experience - De Montfort University

The proposal was for religious library in Orvieto, Italy, a city on the top of a cliff with many underground connections. The idea was to bring those connections to the surface, creating all kinds of paths while the user go up the library. Meanwhile, in this search for knowlegde (or enlightenment) the user would enter from the lower ground at the social area, with closed walls and few light, going up where the books are. And as you aproach the rare section, the library will open up for the light.

Centro Esportivo

Located next to the Federal Univerisity of Goiรกs Campus, this proposal for a student housing and sports center aims to help students with financial difficulties as well as to provide physical activity for all and encourage the social interaction.

A central arena filled with green spaces was made for gatherings and to converge all the three areas of the complex: housing, social area (under the housing blocks) and sports center.

The students housing is divided in three parts: two private blocks with bedrooms, study rooms, bathrooms etc, and a social block connecting the private ones, located under them, in front of the sports center, where the staircase steps of the arena were used as sun blocks.

design projects restaurant

This restaurant is located in the central area of Goiânia (Brazil). The idea was to make the ground floor as a free passway from the restaurant to the historical Art DÊco buildings across the street. Sun blockers with volume variations were used to make the light more dramatic as the user go up the access ramp. The shape of the building in a continuous strip help to guide the direction of the pedestrian. The restaurant is actually on the upper floor, so that the user can make meals with a great view of the avenue but far from the noise and traffic.

design projects multifunctional complex

This Multifunctional Complex, combining housing buildings, comercial and cultural areas, was designed to be placed in a brazilian neighbourhood famous for its concept of ‘garden city’. Therefore one of the criterias followed was to use the vegetation not only as an option of environmental comfort, but also as a main component of the facades of the buildings, which were placed thinking on the best way to frame great views for the residents. The entire complex is organized in linear parks, creating a huge square in the middle of the block, conecting the exterior with the interior. Each oor has its own garden, and the different shapes of the paviments make possible to have a better insolation for the plants and shaded spots for the resisdents. All comercial and cultural areas are on the lower levels, so that they can be easily approachable for everyone.
