huaca

Based on the visit to the Uquira huaca in CaĂąete, Lima, the relationship between the different kind and hierarchy of spaces of this ancient building and its harmonic coupling to the natural environment could be analyzed. According to these premises and taking into consideration the conservation of this heritage, a new kind of building could be proposed in order to become and architectural landmark, respecting the usage of the material and the disposition of the spaces.

These zones had different characteristics regarding the privacy of the spaces they contained. Hierarchy of spaces and the level of usage had to be determined. From public, semi - public to private spaces, the building had now to respond, not only to the relationship between spaces but to a natural terrain and environment insertion.

final project

the citadel

With the previous analysis and the excercises to understand the context, its connection with the spaces created, and the relationship in between them, a sacred citadel had to be proposed. The citadel is located in the top of one of the mountains that sorrounded Uquira, taking great advantage of the climathological conditions such as the sunlight and the wind.

This citadel would be a sacred place of gathering and would be used as an astronomical observatory with three diffrent types of zones and spaces. The public zone used for the attendance of piligrims. The semi-public zone used by habitants and finally, the private zone used only by priests.

Life In Between Buldings This conceptual and utopic proposal is born based on the urgent need of Lima to become a more vertically densificated city sothat the over usage and exploitaition of the urban tissue and floor is avoided. The Proposal includes aerial plazas and affordable housing in a distant future. The Architectural Survey made, provides enough information about the zone and the needs it has. The building is several meters above ground so that the previous tissue is not damaged

vertical - colective social housing

ANUAL EXPOSITION BARACCO 5-15 2016 Centro Cultural Ccori Wasi, Lima

Lima city has already collapsed due to a constant horizontal expansion. Towards this problem it is necessary to grow in a different direction, which is vertically. The creation of new centres which contain diverse usage of the ground will help to reduce spatial friction and will improve the quality of life of the people by spending a lot time less in public transport. The proposal is located in the South area of Lima, in a zone called Atocongo, where the new centrality is projected to be developed. Accordingto the PLAM 2035 (Metropolitan Plan of Urban Development of Lima City) five lines will intersect creating a transport node that will allow the construction of new office, commerce, and housing buildings, that will allow people to live and work and have leisure time in the same area.

vertical - colective social housing

social colective housing complex model 1:200 CORREDOR EXTERNO

In face of the huge housing deficit it is logical to propose a collective housing system. The concept is simple: vertical and densified buildings that respond to a new urban layout which virtually contain vast public spaces. The building gradually grows in height so that the visual impact is light and gentle. The usage of primary colours gives the composition a twist and contrast with the white of the structures and walls, and by the patterns it forms the facade becomes dynamic and clean because of the purity of the colour it uses.

high performance public school - urban park

The proposal The building is part of a very important project of an urban regeneration masterplan that includes the insertion of different thypologies of buildings in strathegic locations in different problemathic urban areas in Lima city. A school is a symbol of progress and knowledge for the new generations to come, so it is logical that in a district which high crime rates and damaged urban tissues, like San Juan de Lurigancho; education is not given propperly. As part of a program made by the peruvian government, a high performance public school should be inserted in the lands of a high security prision, demolishing that deteriorated infraestructure and replacing it with a very prestigiuos public school designed specifically for the most tallented students of low incomes in the country, this also inludes an enormous urban park that can give this abandoned part of the city a propper publick space required by any citizen.

Referencial photograph of San Juan de Lurigancho

The Algarrobo Park The urban park, as a tribute to previous natural landscapes of the region errased by urbanisation, would include more than 18 ha of the typical tree of the peruvian coast, the “Algarrobo, a very strong tree that survives the driest seasons of the year, enhacing the character of the total contextual proposal.

The School Detailed Model 1:100

The building is inserted respectfully into a very peculiar topography, taking very seriusly into cosideration the desertic context, which determined the materiality of the whole project: concrete with the texture and colour of the local sand. It is divided into 2 different parts: The two storey socle embedded into the hill which contains chemistry and computer labs, artistic workshops and dancing and theatre clasrooms. On top of the socle the classrooms are located in two different storeys, with sloping roofs that resemble the topography of the context.

School Masterplan The school masterplan included an enoumous sports area, a colosseum, auditorium, students residency area, and a theatre, which were developed volumetrically.

Detailed Model 1:100

The detailed part includes a section of the classrooms and the most important library of the complex, wich in the inside contains a 400 people auditorium and by its shape it seems that it is climbing the hill. The school points to become a referent in educational matter around the country and the latinamerican region for its quality infraestructure and educational curriculum which priorizes the education of those who cannot afford the private schools in the country.

After the design process, the conceptual building had to be placed into reality, and the solution for the shape and the formal idea of the school had to be made with a hybrid structure. The first two storeys which are embedded into the topography would be build with a concrete plaqued structure and the following two storeys would be made of a structural steel frames attatched to the concrete beams and columns to obtain the irreguar form of the ascending building.

A

The steel frames would after be filled and covered with ODF wooden panels to fill the gaps of the steel trusses. Afterwards the now compact structure would be covered with Superboard plaque and finally covered with a material called Textupro to obtain the texture and appereance of concrete and unifing the two parts of the building. festival del PerĂş: center of the peruvian culture

In these current days, the need to express and celebrate the diversity of the peruvian culture is widely internalised by the people in Peru, but a propper space and infrastructure to hold and to reception these thousands of cultural expressions does not exist. The proposed building had to express this need by its form and conception, taking into consideration the past, but most importantly the projection of Peru as a country towards the new century. The project is located in a neuralgical place in Lima city. The Plaza Grau is the physical entrance to the Historic Center of Lima. This eclectic sourrounding was perfect to host this new building which by its form and its emplacement would create a transition treshold between these two parts of the city. The proposal included an urban regeneration design, that organised the surface expressways in three different levels, taking into consideration the future metro lines that would cross the area. Surrounded by historical landmarks and extremely important cultural buildings such as the MALI, a landscape posposal was designed in order to unify the area and to give pedestrians a propper urban space.
