PRESENTATION Throughout my studies, I tried internships in various fields. Faced with the infinite number of questions enriching the art of architecture, it seemed essential to me. I stayed in constant search, exploring a variety of fields. Over time two tools have remained constant in my research of architecture. The body in movement in the territory and the maintenance of a sketchbook. Put the body in movement It’s move, travel, adventurous exploration in search of what can enrich the architectural project in the territory. Begin to move into the territory allows to find the specific characteristics of a place, which gives it a particular atmosphere. I believe it is important to put in motion to create an architecture able to set the world in motion, change things. The maintenance of the sketchbook The draw is completely part of the creative process. The practice of drawing is important to collect information, retain an atmosphere. Sketching in a place, it is already getting into a state of design.

A MONASTERY IN MONTMÉDY - MASTER 2 - 2nd semester - A monastery in Montmédy ( France ) A place between nature and reason
Presentation of the place :
Montmédy is a small town located in Meuse (Lorraine, France). It is characterized by its fortifications and its geographic location. It’s a place with a rich military past and but today we have the feeling that this is a place a little out of time and space.
Features / theme studied :
In Montmédy, we can feel a special atmosphere due to the alternation of human actions and the effect of time on the site. So the succession of rational interventions of man and returns to the natural elements offers a landscape with a particular history and features. The project is part of this cycle to be one with the place, it is part of history and atmosphere of the place. Le cycle nature/raison
Project location :
The building emphasizes an existing basement in stone. This basement tends to return to a natural state. It is hidden by a dense and wild vegetation. A path going around the fortifications goes through this base. This path is the access to the building.
6
A MONASTERY IN MONTMÉDY Function :
The building is a monastery welcoming fifty monks and pilgrims. The atmosphere of the place, is suitable to meditation, introspection and self-sufficient community.
Spatiality :
The project plan is based on the typology of monasteries organized around a cloister. The building rises from the basement to create workshops for monks and pilgrims. This space is semi-transparent and gives views of nature on one side and the cloister and the hanging gardens on the other side. The sharing spaces between the monks such as the refectory, the chapel have been designed to be consistent with their life practice.
Materiality / Light :
The building is stone cladding, which gives it the massive appearance from the outside. The facades overlooking the cloisters and gardens are a stone moucharabieh, providing massivity but allows to see outside and to filter the light.

AN EDUCATIONAL CENTER IN TRAPANI - MASTER 2 - 1st semester - An educational center in the salting basins in Trapani ( Sicily ) The place for the temporary residence
Presentation of the place :
The salting basins Ettore e Infersa are located on the west coast of Sicily, between the cities of Trapani and Marsala. In this region of Italy, the harvest of the salt is an ancestral tradition that began in the sixth century with the Phoenician civilization. Despite lower activity than before, even today, some people continue the tradition of harvesting salt by hand.

AN EDUCATIONAL CENTER IN TRAPANI
11
AN EDUCATIONAL CENTER IN TRAPANI
Feature / theme studied :
The salting baths are a great stretch of seawater composed of pools of different sizes and different depths. The water can have very different colors with the seasons. The territory is crossed by the geometric logic of basins, due to the industrialization of salt. This geometry is marked by stone walls separating the basins. These walls can be very visible or not, sometimes submerged, split or not. They offer a large diversity. Finally, the landscape is dotted with windmills for passing water from one basin to another. In this stretch of water, we can see the lonely mountain San Giuliano topped by the vilage of Erice.
Project location :
The building takes the place of a triangular basin. This basin is the residual of the geometry of the salt that joins the canal. The project is directed to the San Giuliano Mountain. This direction is emphasized by lines of saline materialized by small stone paths that the project includes. The building creates a walk through the salting basins and the docks. There are already a parking, a restaurant and a museum for the walker.
Function :
The building is an educational center hosting tourists, scientists and volunteers to work in the salting basins. The building includes workshops, laboratories and an exhibit space. The idea is to reinforce the activity of the salt and to raise a larger public in this activity.
Spatiality :
The project is organized around a patio with one side open in the direction of the
12
AN EDUCATIONAL CENTER IN TRAPANI San Giuliano Mountain. The faรงade overlooking the mountain is transparent and is inhabited by the volunteers dormitories. The other two sides are more opaque. The project incorporates the walls which define the basins. The dock level is higher than the level of the basin walls, so the exhibition space is sloping down to the level of the patio that reaches the level of the walls. When you come in the patio, you are projected to the edge of the water to see the mountain San Giuliano.
Materiality / Light :
The building has a stone cladding. The material has a certain freshness. The stones for the cladding is the same that the stones used on the site for the walls, the mills and the docks.

HOUSING IN GHENT - MASTER 1 - 2nd semester - Apartments in Ghent ( Belgium ) Workshop with CHRISTIAN RAPP
Presentation of the place :
Ghent is situated at the confluence of the Lys and the Scheldt. It is characterized by its many canals and port infrastructure developed by the industry. How an architectural act contributes to constitute the territory? How architecture makes the city? After a historical analysis of the constitution of the city step by step, we noted that during the industrial revolution, a method of making the city was the courtyards ( courĂŠes )
Feature / theme studied :
The courtyards ( courĂŠes ) were a solution to the increasing housing density in the 19th and 20th century. Thus, breakthroughs bordered by identical row houses have been created in the building blocks. These streets are closed on one side and open on the other. This type of housing provides a life in community, but open to the city. This helps to densify the heart of the building blocks and not to extend on the surface because the city is often limited by the channels.
14
HOUSING IN GHENT Project location :
The project is located in an old area of expansion of the city in the industrial age. It is a landlocked area because it is surrounded by water and railways. This building block already has some courtyards and a more contemporary interpretation of this kind of accommodation. The project settles in a void between two houses.
Function :
The building consists essentially of accommodation. These are apartments to create a community life. A part of the building is shared space for various events.
Spatiality :
The project creates an interior street facing the street. In the heart, the building is organized around a courtyard and a garden for community life.
Materiality / Light :
The elevation was designed to create a rhythm that could give the impression of social cohesion but respecting a ryhtme corresponding to individual homes, as in the spirit of the courtyards.

A CONSERVATORY OF THE ENVIRONMENT IN VERNAZZA - MASTER 1 - 1st semester - A conservatory of the environment in Vernazza ( Liguria, Italy ) A place between mountain and sea
Presentation of the place :
Vernazza is a coastal village in Liguria, Italy. It is part of the region called Le Cinque Terre. Le Cinque Terre are a region between La Spezia and Genova which includes five coastal villages and their surroundings including the landscape of the mountains and sea coasts.
Features / theme studied :
Vernazza is characterized by its position in the territory. It is backed against the mountain in a very steep landscape. The mountain is worked into cultivable terraces materialized by stone retaining walls. At its backing position couples the huge expanse of the Tyrrhenian Sea. This is the position between the mountains and the sea that gives to the Cinque Terre the power of this place and its very specific atmosphere.
18
A CONSERVATORY OF THE ENVIRONMENT IN VERNAZZA
Project location :
The project is located in the gardens of the ancient monastery of the village. This is a very high place in the village. The gardens were worked in terrace where there is still fruit trees of the ancient orchards. The project takes advantage of the situation between the mountain and the sea to create a building that is impregnated with the atmosphere of the place. To this situation is coupled the desire to make architecture with gardens that are not a simple decor but are involved in the creation of spaces.
Function :
The building is a conservatory for the environment. It is a place of awareness of the territory and the environment of the Cinque Terre. It is also to rediscover the ancient gardens and the ancient monastery. The program includes exhibition spaces, a conference space, a screening space.
Spatiality :
The project consists of buildings developed in the length of the huge retaining walls. These buildings cover these retaining walls to create the exhibition space. The project includes gardens with outdoor spaces extending into the building. The project creates an ascent through buildings and gardens until the highest point ended with a belvedere overlooking the gardens, the village and the sea.
Materiality / Light :
By respect for the place, the project was designed in wood cladding which allows connections to the soil and to the place that is most delicate possible.

HOUSING IN ROTTERDAM - BAC 3 - 2nd semester - Collective housing in Rotterdam Building the city and public space
Presentation of the place :
Rotterdam is an important port city of Holland. The place is located in the Spangen district in Delfshaven, an important district of the city of Rotterdam. It was the ancient port of the city of Delft located 13 km further northwest.
Features / theme studied :
A large portion of the city was destroyed during the Second World War by aerial bombardments, particularly in this district where complete building blocks have disappeared. The site currently lacks coherence, particularly in the urban tissue. There are buildings with very different scales and they are in close proximity to each other. There are large bars of housing built after the war and houses building blocks.
22
HOUSING IN ROTTERDAM
Project location :
The project is located in a park created after the 1943 bombardments It is a space left between the bars of housing and the building blocks constituting the urban tissue. This park is often used by children from both schools bordering the park. The project tries to restore the coherence of the city by proposing a building block respecting the existence of the park that has its reason for being as much as the new project. The challenge was to redefine public space in its spatial limits and provide qualitative accommodation in this place. Thus a tower holds the park space and an L-shaped building block redefined three areas: the existing park, a mineral place for the library located on the other side of the street and the market square opposite the library.
Function :
The project tries to respect as much as possible the place where it is, what constitutes its great urbanity. It incorporates the typology of housing in apartments stacked as found in houses in this district. All sides of the L consists of this housing except for the part overlooking the park which is composed of duplex stacked and enjoying the view of the park. In the heart of this project is a shared space to host events of this inhabitant community. On the ground floor shops activate the small mineral place
23
HOUSING IN ROTTERDAM Spatiality :
The apartments are traversing in Z So they benefit from view and light on the facade facing the street and on the facade overlooking the garden. The living space opens on the sides on a terrace and a kitchen on one side and a guest room on the other.
Materiality / Light :
Brick is used in this project, by similarity with the surrounding buildings. It is used in a way that shows the massiveness of the building based on its powerful pillars.

A CYCLING AND PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE - BAC 3 - 1st semester - A bridge above the channel Sustainability
Presentation of the place :
The Espierres Canal was realized in 1843 and it measures 8.5 km. It is located in the province of Hainaut in Belgium. It links the Deûle in France with the Scheldt in Belgium. It connects more or less important cities such as Lille, Tournai, Estaimpuis, Leers Nord, Roubaix, Tourcoing and Kortrijk. Used even today it offers to the walkers the view of the landscape of the countryside where the canal passes through. With the time, at its merchandise transport function, was superimposed some form of river tourism. Along the old towpaths, many walkers like to walk on foot, bike or roller.
Features / theme studied :
How does the material creates the architectural project? After studying references, the project had to be realized under the slogan of sustainability. What is the meaning of the presence of a work of art in the landscape? How the structure and the materiality are part of the architectural design?
Project location :
The pedestrian bridge is installed near the lock at Leers-Nord. The bridge is designed to unite the two banks of the canal. At this lock is adjoined the little lock-keeper’s house. This house is now a café. On the docks, opposite to the café, there is sometimes festive events. The project takes advantage of this dynamic to settle in the territory.
Function :
The project is a cycling and pedestrian bridge across the canal.
Materiality / Light :
This pedestrian bridge is made of wood and metal. We looked for the most appropriate sections of wood taking into account the price, the ecological footprint, sustainability. To reduce the quantity of materials used, we replaced all of the sections of wood working in traction by cables. We thought the project by minimizing the use of galvanized steel parts, all assemblies are made of wood, mostly dovetailed.

LA RUCHE IN PARIS - BAC 2 - 2nd semester - Housing and workshop space for artists ( La Ruche, Paris, France )
Presentation of the place :
The place called La Ruche is a place for sixty artists located in the 15th arrondissement in Paris. La Ruche is founded in 1902 by the sculptor Alfred Boucher from elements recovered after the closing of the World Expo 1900. Famous artists have passed through this place (Chagall, Modigliani, ...)
Features / theme studied :
The particularity of this place is the rotunda around which are disposed small houses. The passages are is on a small scale. Huge wrought iron gates separates this community from the street. This is a a little hidden placein the rear of the city, another world hidden in a rather wild vegetation. There is a real climate of inspiration for artists due to the small scale of the place, its narrow passages. Even in gardens and outdoor spaces reigns a workshop atmosphere, an elegant disorder.
30
LA RUCHE IN PARIS
Project location :
There is a very long plot between La Ruche and the huge bar housing. The aim is to make an extension of this place on this plot.
Function :
The building contains dwellings and studios for artists and individual workshops and a space used as a shared workshop and exhibition space.
Spatiality :
The project consists of several small buildings, such as cells or cell hosting artists. These cells begin to shift and align with respect to the cardinal points. This shift creates a multitude of corners, we find the same spirit of orderly disorder. The shift is used to identify each cell, there is the small individual scale. The north south orientation allows among others to capture the adequate light.
Materiality / Light :
The cells consist of the housing in the upper part and the workshop in the lower part. The housing can thus receive sunlight directly while the workshop receives a softer diffused light through the housing.
