‘Emilia’ – Play Reading on Wednesday 12 October in Keswick
As part of our Black History Month activities, students will be presenting a play reading of Emilia in Keswick at 16:00 The title character was a 17th century poet and feminist and is widely believed to be Shakespeare’s ‘Dark Lady’. This play was originally performed at The Globe in 2017 and transferred to the West End in 2018.

Christmas Fair Saturday 3 December
There are less than 80 days to go until Christmas!
Every year, on the last Saturday of term, we hold a fantastic Christmas Fair, with every tutor group raising funds for charity. Last year, we raised over £7000 can we raise even more this time?
The Parents’ Guild also run a series of stalls if you know anyone who would like to run a stall, please do put them in touch with the Parents’ Guild via email parentsguildroedean@gmail.com.

Year 9 Option Choice Process
This week Dr Hobbs, Mrs Shrubsole and students from Year 10 launched the GCSE Options Choice process with Year 9. Details of the process can be found in the Year 9 Choice Assembly PowerPoint presentation and there will be several opportunities for students and parents to receive support and ask questions over the coming term, ahead of the submission of choices in mid January.
Sixth Form Subject Fair for Roedean Year 11 Students –11 October, 16:15 in Keswick
If your daughter could not attend the Sixth Form Open Evening on 6 October, she may attend on 11 October. This is a fantastic opportunity for her to hear from subject experts about the courses on offer at Roedean Sixth Form.
Year 11 Sixth Form Experience Day – Tuesday 18 October
This will be an opportunity for Year 11 to experience life as a Sixth Form student, including sampling Sixth Form lessons, and a more flexible day including revision time ahead of Year 11 assessments.
Year 13 University Applications
Since the beginning of term, Year 13 have been working hard on their applications for university entrance. Good luck to the more than 30 students who are in the process of submitting their early applications with a deadline of 15 October. Meanwhile, support for all girls in Year 13 with their applications has been ongoing. It has been fascinating to read students’ personal statements for such a wide variety of university courses a reflection of the diversity of students’ interests and passions.
