This is an important time for students to explore and discover their passions, build skills, and gain confdence. We emphasise a wellrounded education, with students dedicating equal time to Languages, Sciences, Arts, and Mathematics. With over 20 subjects on offer during these junior years, the skills developed and the outstanding academic results achieved provide a solid foundation for future academic excellence.

Wild Fridays
An opportunity to discover passions and fresh perspectives
To compliment the academic programme, the Year 7 ‘Wild Fridays’ is a thrilling initiative designed to empower students, fostering a deep appreciation for the natural world that envelops them. With a diverse array of activities offered each half term, ‘Wild Fridays’ is a playground for exploration and growth and serves as a platform for the cultivation of new skills and knowledge.
Engaging in activities such as Bushcraft, Meteorology, Farming, Sailing, Horticulture, Land-yachting, and even the opportunity to Build Your Own Go-Kart, students connect with nature and also develop resilience, creativity, and a sense of adventure. This unique programme encapsulates the essence of Roedean’s commitment to holistic education, ensuring that our students thrive not only in the classroom, but also in various life experiences.
Head Heart Hand (HHH)
Think beyond the ordinary
The HHH programme is part of the weekly curriculum for all our Year 7, 8 and 9 students. Designed by the Roedean staff, the schedule offers practical and challenging activities to encourage the students to think beyond the ordinary. These positive lessons include, and are not limited to, Sign Language, First Aid, Textiles and Cooking, improving the students’ personal skills and selfconfdence.

Boarding by the sea
A home away from home, with the space to grow up at your own pace
With dedicated and caring staff, a nurturing environment, and a variety of engaging activities, our boarding facilities provide a safe and inspiring space for students to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Students can choose to board full-time or look at weekly or fexi-boarding options. If you live in London, students can join the ‘Victoria Escort’, which is a chaperoned return service between Brighton and London on a Friday and Sunday afternoon respectively. Weekly and Flexible Boarding offers students the opportunity to experience the perfect balance between school and home –where all of your learning and activities are in one place.
In Years 7 & 8, twin and triple rooms rotate every term, providing a varied mix of roommates. While some Year 9 girls share a double room, the majority enjoy the comfort of having their own space. From Year 10, all students have their own room. In each House, there are different areas for girls to work, relax with friends, watch TV and play games. While well-fed in the main dining room, girls can cook in the pantry kitchen or even make tea or hot chocolate in the evenings.
Boarding life
Throughout the week, approximately 300 students find the perfect blend of school and boarding life, engaging in diverse evening activities that utilise our excellent facilities. Each evening, boarders are encouraged to join activities, fostering a sense of community. These include baking to quizzes, dance competitions to bingo. There’s a dedicated Prep hour for homework too. On weekends, over 220 students stay on-site as full boarders, with each of the boarding houses offering a distinctive programme. The weekend schedule is brimming with a variety of on-site and off-site activities, including shopping, trampolining, go-karting, crafting, baking, and excursions to London.

Our co-curricular programme provides over 140 activities
The breadth of our co-curricular activities has always been central to life at Roedean and continues to be one of the School’s great strengths. As part of our commitment to our holistic education, we provide wide-ranging opportunities for the girls to develop and thrive, and enjoy an all-round school experience. From those learning new games to elite sportswomen, Roedean strongly believes that whatever the student’s aspirations in sport, that her experience should be enjoyable, rewarding, and memorable. The creative and performing arts are at the very core of Roedean’s ethos; the school delights in the students’ successes on stage, including last year’s productions of Jane Eyre, Legally Blonde, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. There are also opportunities to perform in a range of magical musical concerts, recitals, and dance showcases.
The weekly timetable includes two Activity periods per day. On a termly basis, girls choose how they would like to fll these periods from a variety of options. They can choose to try something completely new, or develop existing passions and interests; there truly is something on offer for everyone.

Your journey to Roedean
We appreciate that selecting the ideal senior school for your daughter is a signifcant decision. At Roedean, we offer two distinctive 11+ entry programs - the Standard Entry and the Early Entrance Programme (EEP). The EEP provides the opportunity to secure a Year 7 place for your daughter while she is in Year 5, whilst the Standard Entry takes place when she is in Year 6. We understand the importance of this journey, and our team is here to assist and guide you in making the best decision for your daughter’s educational path.
