RESIDENTIAL TRIPS 2024-2025
The School is delighted to offer 17 residential trips in 2024-2025, and these will provide experiences to suit students in all year-groups. These complement a range of non-residential trips, as well as lectures and workshops in School. There are also expeditions in the summer term for those undertaking the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, and an exciting trip to explore Morocco, a Ski Trip to Italy, a philanthropic trip to Moldova, and a fantastic opportunity for an exchange to Roedean South Africa.
Costs Of Residential Trips
The costs for these trips are informed estimates, which we hope will help with planning and budgeting, although it is important to be aware that the precise costs will be made clear when places are allocated. This is because the cost of both travel and accommodation are fluctuating a great deal currently. For trips which require an early deposit to secure a place, the cost will be confirmed at this point.
Payments for these trips will generally be added to your daughter’s School bill, and, wherever possible, payments will be spread – this will be clarified in the correspondence for each trip. Families which receive means-tested support may apply for financial support for curriculum trips.
Visas
If your daughter requires a visa to travel on an international trip, it is the responsibility of parents or guardians to secure the necessary documentation. In the unlikely event that this cannot be secured in good time, it may not be possible to refund the costs of the trip.
How Places On Trips Are Allocated
If your daughter is keen to go on one or more of these trips, please complete this form which will allow you to indicate which are of interest, as well as ranking them in order of preference.
It may be that some trips are over-subscribed, in which case the School will prioritise certain students; for example, for trips with an academic focus, those students studying the subject or intending to continue with it in the following year will be prioritised. Older students with fewer opportunities over the coming years may also be given priority.
Off-Setting The Carbon Footprint Of Residential Trips
The School is keen to make trips as sustainable as possible, but some emissions from travel are unavoidable. We are exploring different options, including funding local hedgeplanting projects to off-set the trips’ carbon footprint.

Year 11 Calshot Field Trip
Fieldwork and outdoor learning are key elements in the study of Geography, and we have chosen to visit Calshot because of its outstanding location and excellent facilities. The centre is run by Hampshire County Council and previous trips have been highly successful.
GCSE Geography students are required to attend a minimum of two days ‘in the field’, developing their fieldwork skills. Whilst at the Calshot Centre, your daughter will undertake geographical enquiries and practise applying her existing skills in a new context.
As Calshot is also a renowned centre for providing and leading outdoor activities, we will be incorporating two half-days of mixed activities where your daughter should have the opportunity to experience some or all of the following: climbing, ringos, skiing, archery, & teambuilding activities.

Groups begin their week in Sestriere and can progress to ski on one of the other mountains within the area, offering a great range for all abilities and there are 146 skiable pistes, which together total 390km of runs. The resort hosts regular Skiing World Cup events and was the heart of the Alpine skiing world in 2006 when the Olympics were held in Turin.
