The Library Catalogue (OPAC) will help you locate where items are in the building. There are dedicated terminals on each of the floors or it can be accessed through our web pages. www.roehampton.ac.uk/library

How do I find books? To find a book, first search the Library Catalogue (OPAC). To help you understand the catalogue and the information it gives you it might be useful to look at this OPAC Guide This will give you details of how many copies there are, how many are available and the shelfmark – which is the code that tells you where the item is in the library. Items are shelved in shelfmark order. The floor guide will help you find which floor it’s on and signage will help you narrow down the area it is shelved in.

Where are my course text books?

FINDING MATERIAL

Library Catalogue (OPAC)

Always note down the full shelfmark and use the floor signs to help you find items.

? Did you know we have a recently returned area where books are held initially when they are returned. Try here first if you’re looking for items that have recently been returned.

Many course text books are held in a special collection called Key Text Reference on the ground floor. The books in here are shelved in shelfmark number. However, because these items are high in demand they are for reference only and cannot be taken out of the Key Text area. It’s worth checking the Library Catalogue though, many core texts have additional copies in the main collection of the library available for loan.
