NEXT ‘IT’ GIRL IN HOLLYWOOD Alana de Freitas signs with US agent Hollywood is calling for Alana de Freitas. The talented Australian actress has been signed by a US agent and has booked roles in two feature films that begin shooting this year; I Told You So is a drama being pitched to the Hallmark network, as well as a still-untitled film based on George Bernard Shaw’s play, The Millionairess. With fellow Australian, Margot Robbie kicking goals in Hollywood, the floodgates have been opened for the next wave of young Aussies to take centre stage, and Alana appears to be first in line. Her first foray into feature films was in Director Michael Rymer’s Queen of the Damned back in 2002. Alana is best known for her work as a presenter for internet lifestyle program, Life Funk TV, and her role as the air-head Christy Cunningham on the comedy series, Snowpeck. Snowpeck’s Director, Zeljko Vanis, credits much of the show’s success to her “onscreen charisma and natural affinity for comedy”. Having worked on a number of successful short films in 2015, Alana spent the latter half of the year in LA meeting with some of the business’ top casting directors, many of whom are eagerly anticipating her return. She is also rumoured to be in the mix for the world-wide casting for the upcoming horror feature, Grey Fear, tipped to be this generation’s Jaws; and, we hear she is in the early stages of talks to star in a remake of the 1953 classic, Roman Holiday, which starred Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. Having
featured in the highly-anticipated bushranger biopic, The Legend of Ben Hall, due out later this year, Alana will be gracing our movie screens very soon! All this hype has us asking, could she be the next Aussie ‘It’ girl in Hollywood?
