GUJARAT INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH Gota, Ahmedabad 380 060 requires FACULTY (Advt./1/2014) The Gujarat Institute of Development Research (GIDR), a premier social science research institute supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and the Government of Gujarat, plans expansion of its research faculty. GIDR is a recognised research centre (RRC) of the IGNOU, New Delhi for the PhD programme in Economics. The Institute conducts training and teaching programmes in social science research and development policy. The Institute provides a congenial work environment, offers UGC pay scales and excellent career advancement prospects. Professor and Associate Professor :- The minimum qualification for these posts is a PhD in social sciences, preferably, Economics, Sociology or Demography. The candidates should have at least ten and seven years of research experience, respectively, in similar research institutions and have scholarly publications. The candidates should also have proven ability for conducting independent research. The salary grades applicable are as follows: 1. Professor (Pay Band Rs. 37400-67000 with Grade Pay Rs. 10000) 2. Associate Professor (Pay Band Rs. 37400-67000 with Grade Pay Rs. 9000) Candidates with specialisation or research interest in the areas of Industry, Infrastructure and Trade; Natural Resource Management; Poverty and Human Development; Employment and Migration; and Institutions and Governance may apply, though others are also welcome. They will also be involved in organising training programmes in development studies. Teaching experience at postgraduate level and above, in addition to the requisite research experience, would be preferred. Selection will be made on the basis of interview of the short-listed candidates. However, mere satisfying the eligibility norms does not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview. Depending upon the number of applications received, the Institute reserves the right to call only a limited number of candidates after preliminary screening with reference to their qualifications, suitability, experience, etc. The Institute reserves the right to consider deserving candidates who may not have responded to the advertisement. The Selection Committee may relax qualifications in exceptionally deserving cases. The Institute also reserves the right to cancel the entire selection process without assigning any reason thereof.
