EUGENI QUITLLET Highlight Designer

Spanish designer Eugeni Quitllet was born in Ibiza on 1972. He graduated from Llotja Art School in Barcelona. He readily describes himself as a ‘Disoñador,’ a Spanish contraction of designer and dreamer. His invented future is gravity-free, with incredible aesthetics summarised in a combination of digital precision and flowing curves. This industrial dreamer first witnessed a rural stretch of the beach become an informal hub for ultra-modern electronic music, before growing up in Barcelona, a place of architectural divide where Gaudi’s organic outbursts fraternise with the Pavilion designed by Mies van der Rohe, a rationalist marmoreal jewel installed in Catalonia before taking root in the United States. He worked along 10 years with Philippe Starck. Eugeni Quitllet hence lives and works in Barcelona. Keep your finger on the pulse of our ever-changing paradoxical period by keeping your eye on this pioneer.

20th Anniversary

20 Anniversary Salone Satellite Created in 1998 and running concurrently with the salone del mobile milano, the salone satellite was the first initiative to focus on young designers with the explicit aim of giving them dedicated platform from which to exhibit work. The event quickly escalated to an unrivalled space where manufacturers and talent scouts could meet the up-and-coming creatives of the time, producing new relationships and collaborations. Its creation was a declaration of faith in the creative potential of designers under 35. Today, 20 years later, the celebration starts with “salone satellite: 20 years collection”, a special edition of bespoke pieces conceived by international designers whose careers took off at salone satellite; and with “salone satellite. 20 years of new creativity”, an exhibition showcasing an anthology of pieces presented during the past editions curated by beppe finessi and housed at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan.
