December Birthday Babies
To everyone celebrating a birthday in December, Many Happy Returns. Celebrate well.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time on leave in October – did a lot of de-cluttering, painting and reorganising of my bedroom and wardrobe. Something I really enjoyed. The Op Shop benefitted greatly. How enlightening it is to move on STUFF that has been hanging around for more than 30 years. I am now doing the same in the study. The best thing, is being able to hand over things left behind by my boys as they moved out – which I kept of course – now they can throw it out or keep it – their choice not mine. As you would be aware Christmas Carols is not happening this year. The Association is hosting a Christmas Lights competition in its stead. Buses will run on Tuesday 8 December and Thursday 10 December. Santa will be at the Community Centre from 6.30pm, for the children; the winners of the Lights competition will be announced with prize money being sponsored by TCC Cr Margie Ryder. The RTC will be closed from 21 December to 3 January inclusive. However the Centrelink facilities will be made available should there be a need. Please call 0407753562 to arrange a time for the RTC to be opened to complete your tasks. Australia Day is going ahead on 26 January. The Great Dunny Race will also feature on the program. This year we are looking to have individual dunnies and a construction/painting workshop can be organised if there are enough people wanting to participate. NoTCH is presenting Family Fun and Crafts on 14 January at 9.30am. See the flyer on page XX for more details. NEWS
November saw the unexpected passing away of Betty Grady, another long-time resident. A truly lovely, kind and generous lady who, with her family, contributed mightily toward their community at Toomulla Beach. She will be sorely missed. Vale Betty. “Barb Armfield is booked in to have Hip Surgery. Here’s hoping she’ll be all over it (well, mostly, anyhow) by Christmas and moving around pain-free.” Rhonda Gurd had major surgery recently but is now on the road to recovery. Dickie Charleston had minor surgery; and not doing it too well are Rob Thomson, Bob Calder and Gordon Payne. And sadly, we have lost the friendship and community spirit of Tommy and Joanie Ruddick who have sold up and moved into town – and we’ll miss ‘em like mad. • • •

Work has started on the Railway Display, at long last, thanks to Gavin, Kim and Cameron Love. Thought we’d never see it happen. Still poking and prodding a few more projects that we hope to see finalised in the next few months. THEN, we’ll take time out on other stuff – boring stuff, but stuff that has to be done for the betterment of the Community Association and the RTC. WHAT IS A GILL? Does anyone remember this measurement? This old unit of measurement sometimes pops up in Christmas Cake and Pudding recipes as it usually refers to alcohol. 1 gill = 5 imperial fluid ounces or 125ml. (The US conversion is 4 fluid oz). A gill is sometimes referred to as the Teacup Measurement and that is what I recall learning to use a small teacup as the measure for a gill. And we’ve been successful with our Funding submission for Australia Day 2021, which is a blessing to have done and dusted and know we can happily get organised on that one. All Testing and Tagging completed for this year and next year and for some items, for the next few years. An expensive exercise, but now finalised and up to scratch which makes life easier for us all. Look, I’m sorry, but there’s not much to write about/report. We’re not doing big events because of COVID, but we are catching up on a lot of other stuff and hopefully, we’ll be caught up and it’ll be all nicely tucked away to start the new year. Thanks, everyone…….
White Truffles (the very easy version): 2 pkts. Vanilla Wafers; 2 pkts. White Chocolate Melts; Desiccated or Shredded Coconut. Crumble Wafers into bowl; melt chocolate and add to wafers; mix well. (You may need to pause here and test for suitable consistency.) When desired consistency of mixture is reached, form into balls. Roll in coconut and refrigerate for a minimum of two (2) hours, preferably longer.
“The right place values you the right way.” If you’re not valued, don’t be angry, it means you are in the wrong place. Those who know your value are those who appreciate you. Never stay in a place where no one sees your value. What a strange year this has been: it seems to have passed quickly and Christmas is just around the corner. Shops are filled with festive decorations and tempting displays of goodies but the usual aura of excitement is lacking. However, sudden brief thunder storms and the deafening chorus of cicadas attest to the approach of the festive season. Much of the recent weeks’ news was dominated by election fever, both for our own state and for the USA. Interest in the USA polls attracted more media coverage than our local elections (or so it seemed) and even now at the time of writing, the situation in the US is not clear-cut. By chance, I heard a news item concerning a dog that has just been elected mayor of a town in England. Intrigued and given some of the bizarre events surrounding US elections, I wondered whether animals were ever nominated for office there. I consulted Google and was surprised to find this is not an unusual occurrence. I did not find any animals with aspirations for the presidency but a long, long list of animal officebearers includes a Golden Labrador named Max, elected in 2014 as mayor for life in Idyllwild, California. Also, in 2014, in Cormorant, Minnesota, a seven-year-old dog named Duke was elected mayor and two years later, was elected for a third term. In 2018, a cat named Sweet-Tart was elected mayor of Omena, Michigan. Bosco, a Labrador-Rottweiler cross, defeated two humans to win the 1981 elections in Sunol, California and held office until his death in 1994. At least one dog sparked international headlines and was condemned by China as a sign of failing democracy. Best, was a goat, elected mayor of Fairhaven, Vermont in 2019, beating fifteen other candidates, including several dogs and cats. Three goats have held office as mayor in USA. This year, many more animals are recorded as being voted into public office. If you don’t believe me, look it up on Google. To be fair, most of these political animals were elected for a day only as a fund-raising stunt for projects such as animal shelters but there have been some who have held office for three terms. Makes you wonder!
While on the subject of animals, Paluma can boast a mystery creature prowling the ‘impenetrable’ rainforest surrounding the village. You may have read recently of the sighting by two men, a father and son, of what they believed to be a black panther prowling at the edge of the forest. The men were on their way to Lake Paluma and saw the mystery animal at 9.15 am. It disappeared into the forest before they could positively identify it. Their view of the creature was momentary but they were convinced that what they saw was a panther-like animal. Over the years there have been occasional reports of a black panther-like creature in the Paluma rainforest and it is tempting to believe that there is something lurking out there. It could become the subject of a quest such as that for a Yowie or Bunyip. Less romantically, the creature is more likely to be a black dingo, which many of the rural-block dwellers see regularly. Or it could be a wild pig: many of which inhabit the area, or possibly a large feral cat, though, thankfully these are seldom seen in the district. The ‘Monsters and Mayhem on the Hill’ event, on 7th November at the Community Hall was a great success with people arriving in some amazing horror outfits. Two terrifying Grim Reapers turned up, several mummies looked as if they had just escaped the grave and a ‘Fire and Brimstone’ preacher tried valiantly to save some souls. Due to Covid-safe restrictions on social activities this was only the PDCA’s second function this year and was very much welcomed and enjoyed by the community. Our next social event, the last for the year, is a tropical barbecue on Saturday, 12th December at 6.30 at the community hall. Tropical dress is required and people are to bring their own meat and a salad or dessert to share. A free drink will be the prize for the best tropical costume. The Range road remains closed between 6.00 pm and 6.00 am while restoration work continues but don’t let that stop you from enjoying a day on the mountain. Please consult the Paluma website, www.paluma.org, for information about events, bush-walks and other general information. This has been a frustrating and for many, a very difficult and sad year. Let’s hope for a much happier 2021! I wish for everyone a safe, peaceful Christmas season in the company of friends and family. Keep safe, keep well………..Colwyn Campbell
ROLLINGSTONE RSL Remembrance Day at Balgal Beach Cenotaph was very well attended this year. It was wonderful to see a substantial increase from last year. The ceremony was made even more special with the involvement of students from Rollingstone State School who assisted with flag duties and read the poem “On Flander's Field”. The next event on our social calendar is the Christmas party on 12 December. Christmas a time for giving It’s often easy to get caught up in the day-to-day dramas of our lives with the pressures of work and family commitments, especially during the festive season. At this time of the year, it’s important to remember the big picture and be grateful for things we do have. The reality is there will be those doing it tough over Christmas and I encourage you all to reach out, whether it’s through a charity donation or calling a friend you haven’t seen in a while. In North Queensland, we like to do Christmas a little differently than most places in the world. We trade eggnog for frozen mangoes and Santa trades his reindeers for large white kangaroos, otherwise known as Snow White Boomers, to cope with the extreme Aussie heat. For everyone, Christmas means something slightly different and we all celebrate it a little differently. Like many this Christmas, I reflect on a year of highs and lows and wins and losses, as I’m sure we all do. For most of us, it’s the most hectic day of the year and includes trying to basically visit every living member of your known family within a 100km radius while trying to fit in three days’ worth of food and drink at the same time. There aren’t too many events throughout the year which have the power to bring family and friends together quite like the festive season. For some, this is the loneliest time of the year and also the hardest financially. So please, if the opportunity arises, be willing to give and help those that may need a bit of cheering up this year. Look out for your neighbour who may be alone next door while your family celebrates or be thoughtful enough to help someone you think may be struggling. I look forward to seeing you over the Christmas break enjoying our great electorate and here’s to a prosperous 2021! Nick Dametto MP Member for Hinchinbrook

Seven of our club members attended the Annual District Convention, this was also due to Covid Restrictions and to our pleaant surprise our club was awarded the Best Leo Club in the District. Well done guys and girls. We were also awarded the Best News Magazine; Well done Sue Thompson. The Charity Golf Day for Diabetes was a great success. People enjoyed and all the money raised will go towards Children with Diabetes Camp on Magnetic Island and a very well done to those who participated on the day. Four members from our club cleaned up the late David Reedman’s property at Toolakea in preparation for an open day last Saturday. Mrs Reedman was very thankful for our efforts. Our club goes into Recess on 24th November 2020 until 2021, however; if anyone needs our assistance through this period please don’t hesitate to call me on 0412396450. ROLLINGSTONE & DISTRICT LEO CLUB Hello again Rollingstone for the last time this year, and though the calendar year is fast drawing to a close the LEO Clubs Calendar and activities continues at quite a pace. Firstly, a big “Shout Out” and thank you to all of the community who supported the Leos and School Junior Leos at the Car Wash last month. All of the Leos and Junior Leos had a great fun-filled time, and at the end of the day raised $245 to go towards the School Chaplaincy Fund which is so necessary to keep Chappie Travis as part of the school and greater Rollingstone Community. Well Done to everyone, and a Big “Thank You” to Rosco for again supporting us and allowing us to use his block adjacent to the School. Great Community Spirit Rosco and Olga – thank You! By the time this article goes to print, the Leos will have held their end of year Christmas Break-up, but that doesn’t mean their year has ended! As reported last month, our Leos together with the Junior Leos will again be conducting a “Food Drive” of non – perishable items so that they can deliver a minimum of 10 Food Hampers to needy local Families just in front of Christmas. There will be a collection box at the School, plus at the RTC, Community Hall and the Lions Den. All donations gratefully accepted, and your contribution will help to put a smile on some local families faces at Christmas. After all, the Lions and Leos theme Internationally this year is “Service with Kindness and Diversity”- our Leos and Junior Leos are certainly living up to that in all they do supporting our local community. And what a Fun Activity the Leos had on Saturday 14th November adjacent to the Stinger Net as part of their contribution to Lions National Diabetes Awareness Day, by participating in their own “Healthy Living Canoeing Activity” provided by the wonderful people of the Magnetic Island Outrigger Canoe Club. You may recall in our report a couple pf months ago that the Leos participated in the “Blessing of the Fleet” and provided a barbecue that morning in support of the Magnetic Island Outrigger Canoe Club on The Strand in Townsville, and what a surprise it was for our Leos when the Club brought their Canoes to The Landing and provided supervised training in the art of “Paddling a Canoe”. And they also were on the receiving end of a Sausage Sizzle, home-made Cup Cakes and Pumpkin scones from the Canoe Club – a great example of mutual cooperation! Thank you again Kim and your Team! It was a great surprise and an honour also for our LEOS at the Lions District Convention at the end of October, when our Rollingstone and District Leo Club was awarded “Best Leo Club” 2019-2020. This is the second time our little club has won this award. Proud to be a Leo – You bet they are! Have a wonderful Christmas, and a safe and Happy New Year. See you in 2021, and if you want to get involved and join in the fun with our Rolly Leos right here in our beautiful community, then talk to Leo President Morgan, any of the Leos, or contact one of our Leo Advisors:Travis Johnson: Mob 0439 540552

ROLLINGSTONE COMMUNITY WALKED 4,351.91 kms for “WALK in OCTOBER for DIABETES” CONGRATULATIONS to all Rollingstone Community Groups who walked to raise awareness of diabetes and support healthy lifestyle options. Distances recorded were: Line Dancers (pictured) with most recorded 1,168.79 kms, followed closely by Lions/Leos 1,056.81 kms, Golfers 828.07 kms, Friday Fitness Group 797.23kms and Seniors 501.01 kms. WELL DONE TO ALL! Lions Clubs across Australia encouraged their communities to collectively walk the 25,760 kms circumference of Australia for World Diabetes Day 14th November. Due to COVID restrictions, the annual “Lap the Map” Day in November was replaced with individual walks leading up to World Diabetes Day. Three ladies exceeded 200 kilometres each: Margaret Adams (line dancer) 226, Anja Devereaux (golfer) 218 and Pam Thomas (Friday Fitness) 208. It was rewarding to hear that some residents who had been making excuses not to exercise, started walking on Oct 1st to support Diabetes and have made walking an enjoyable regular routine.
I’m writing this with Ziggy at my feet. A dog that was given to a small child. A dog that was made into a monster. This holiday season please remember: · A dog is NOT a gift. · A dog is NOT the responsibility of children. · A dog (any dog) is NOT to be left unattended with children. · A puppy/new dog is NOT a therapy dog. A therapy dog is a therapy dog. It takes years of expensive training to turn a dog into a therapy dog. You don’t buy them from some donkey selling designer puppies out of their backyard. · A dog is NOT an impulse. · If you want a non-shedding dog be prepared to take care of that coat. · If you want a German Shepard be prepared for all the training required. · If you want a Dachshund be prepared to deal with a stubborn pain in the ass. DON'T give puppies as Christmas presents unless you're really, REALLY sure you know what the long-term implications will be.
PLEASE, I beg of you!!! Rollingstone Rag, December 2020

FISHERMAN'S LANDING FISHING & SOCIAL CLUB The last month has settled after our full-on start to our year. The new Committee certainly earned their stripes. At the end of October, 45 people attended our bi-annual club trip away. We all had a fantastic time at The Wanderers Resort, Lucinda. Some cracking fish were caught,, some fun was had in the pool and some frivolity enjoyed at the Halloween party. (See photos). Good job to those who dressed up, won a prize and didn’t fall over. Thank you to all of the folks that made it a bloody ripper weekend. Fishing on the Saturday was not fraught without its challenges. Windy conditions meant that no one ventured out to the reef, however that didn’t matter, out the front of Hinchinbrook Island seemed the place to be. In the river, however, was a little different. A very keen fisherman in our club found himself and his crew, in a flat spot (flat spot. Get it Haha) when the battery on the big motor decided to give up the ghost. Calls to shore (back to the caravan park) for help. Geoffrey and Peter to the rescue! Slowly travelling back to the boat ramp, while help waited, of course using the electric motor, the boys thought they were home and hosed. Not to be. The battery went flat on the electric motor too. Hmmm. Drifting Drifting. Looks like they’re up the creek without a paddle. Of course, there are paddles. But they were not needed. The boys were saved by Mick and his boat. Towed in and laughing, but pretty sure upset as well. Gavin, Bart and Mal made it back to dry land safe and sound. This leads me to our maintenance tips for this month. 6 Marine Battery Maintenance Tips These are all simple tips that take just a few minutes but can lead to years of flawless performance in your boat. Use the Right Onboard Battery Charger: Each marine battery has certain chargers that it is paired with by the manufacturer. By using an approved charger, you will avoid the risk of damaging the unit. Recharge Immediately After Each Use: It’s important to recharge your battery after a day on the water. Many do not enjoy the benefit of an alternator constantly keeping them at optimal charge levels. Keep Terminals Clean of Corrosion: The simplest thing you can do to maintain a battery is to clean away any corrosion with a solution of thick baking soda and water. Use Nylock Nuts to Secure Power Wires: A properly secured battery system has an improved chance of avoiding or sustaining hard impacts. Maintain Water Level in Flooded Batteries: Think about lead acid batteries like you would an automobile. Without the proper amount of oil and other fluids, they break down. Distilled water is the primary fluid necessary for lead acid battery health. It’s important to maintain proper levels. Keep Batteries Topped Off Over Winter: Keep battery fluids at manufacturer levels and fully charged during winter months when they may be less active or inactive. Monthly BBQ: Our next BBQ and the last for the year will be on 27th November 2020. Fisheries and Wildlife Representative will be in attendance to answer all those burning questions. Markets Update: The market seems to be growing every month. We had 16 stalls at our last market. With lots of different vendors on display. Our next Market will be the Christmas Market and the last for the year. December 5th on the Esplanade. Come along and enjoy what our locals have to offer. Keep up to date on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/balgalbeachmarket Our next event: A club Christmas Party will be happening. Details will be emailed to members. The stinger net is in at Balgal Beach. Get some relief from the heat and take a dip. Life guards on patrol during school holidays. Important to remember some closures are happening at the moment: Tropical rocklobster closed season begins at 12:01 am on 1 October 2020 and ends at 11:59 pm on 31 December 2021. Barramundi closed season in the Gulf of Carpentaria begins at 12:01 am on 7 October 2020 and ends at 11:59 pm on 31 January 2021. Barramundi closed season throughout the east coast begins at 12:01 am on 1 November 2020 and ends at 11:59 pm on 31 January 2021. Spanner crab closed season begins at 12:01 am on 1 November 2020 and ends at 11:59 pm on 15 December 2020 Keep up to date with the latest info. Get the App. QLD Fishing

MYSTIC SANDS GOLF CLUB Wow the year is gone and it’s an understatement to say a very challenging one for all. Some members moved on to be closer to family and facilities but we welcomed many new ones. Some members had health issues throughout the year but accepted their battle with support from family and friends. Well done and great to see you all still having a hit when you can. We all made changes to our lives due to the COVID, in business and personally but we were lucky to be one of a few clubs allowed an escape from our homes as long as we practised social distancing. Great for physical and mental health. Thanks TJ and Mick. Our course and club again held some fantastic events. Our Men’s and Ladies Open both a huge success in July and we will have many returnees. November 21st and 22nd; Medal of Medallist grand finale was hotly contested for the ultimate trophy of the year. Winners, Sue Thompson and Chris Farlow played some consistent golf to win the 36 hole event on a challenging course with tough pin placements, well maintained greens and fairways which were rock solid. Congratulations to everyone who participated. All trophies and awards will be presented along with good food and company on Saturday 5th December and the night will mark the grand finale to 2020 Competitions. Mystic Sands Golf and Country Club Inc Annual General Meeting will be held Sunday 6th December 11am at the Resort. All previous committee who have vacated positions and nominations are most welcomed. Could all new and old members please attend as this is critical meeting for the future running of our club. A big thank you to Mick and Lisa and their wonderful children for all their efforts during a difficult year. To all the resort team who are very multi skilled whether behind bar, out on course or driving the courtesy bus. Thank you. Thanks to our sponsors throughout the year, many doing it tough themselves but still assisted us in running the competition. You are all greatly appreciated. Lastly, to all the members who many had made donations for fuel in tough times and other key items. Volunteered manual labour around the course and club, run competitions, sold raffle tickets or made morning tea. Without you this club does not exist, thank you and hope to see you all around for summer competition and definitely start of 2021 competition. Merry Christmas to everyone and a Very Happy New Year. Cheers…….Rhonda
BALGAL BEACH BOATING & LEISURE CLUB NEWS G.Day All, Owing to the fact our Christmas in July had to be cancelled due to Covid 19, it was decided to have our ‘Christmas in November’ and because many of our members had commitments in December. We had our Christmas Party at the Golf Club on Sunday 8th November; it was a good night and booked out which was great. Our club cooks had the night off and well deserved too. We had lucky door prizes and lucky draws also a raffle and prize for the best dressed male and female Santa was there too, it was a good celebration, Ho Ho Ho. We had our main course and while we were waiting for dessert there was a blackout in the area so we ate dessert by candlelight. Something different. There was the usual chatter our club is noted for with lots of laughter and noise. Tom and Kerrie won the best male and female costume. Both looked great. Our last BBQ for the year is on the 13th Dec. It will be another fun night. Visitors are always welcome meals are $10 per person, children under 12 yrs are free. Members are always free. TOP TUCKER. So come along and join in the fun and meet new people. STAY SAFE AND BE HAPPY, Merry
Christmas to all,
Kindest regards from your Committee.

Hello Rolly Rag Readers, Firstly, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to welcome both my wife and I into the community. It is a fantastic little part of North Queensland and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the change of scenery. Sergeant JACOBS is now well into his much overdue and well-earned leave, so Acting Sergeant Brett PAGANONI has returned to assist for the next two months. As we go to print, the Rollingstone Police Buggy is being decommissioned and prepared to be gifted back to the community. It is not lost on us the grandness of the gesture from the community to have raised the funds needed to acquire this asset. Both Sgt JACOBS and I wish to take the opportunity on behalf of the Queensland Police Service to thank everyone who was involved in its purchase. Road Safety - Unfortunately, we are experiencing a high number of serious and avoidable traffic crashes occurring on our roads throughout the Rollingstone Division. I can’t stress enough, if you plan to visit one of our local watering holes for a cold beverage, please utilise the available courtesy buses to get home. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE, it’s just not worth it. As part of the Queensland Police Services ongoing Road Safety Campaign to reduce lives lost on our roads, police will be out and about throughout this Christmas period focusing on the FATAL FIVE – Driving Fatigued, Drunk – or – Drug Driving, not wearing a Seatbelt, Speeding and Driving Distracted. There is a zero-tolerance state-wide to these offences and some pretty hefty penalties apply! For something a little different, the owners of Frosty Mango have kindly thrown their support behind the road safety campaign and want to reward responsible road users by donating free coffee or ice cream vouchers to be used throughout the Rollingstone Police Division. This is a great initiative and we would like to acknowledge the support of Frosty Mango. A friendly reminder that if you need to contact the police at any time please consider the following: If the matter is urgent or a crime is in progress, please call 000 If the matter is non-urgent please contact POLICELINK on 131 444 or utilise the online reporting system at www.police.qld.gov.au. This will ensure your matter is attended to appropriately and that we have all the necessary information required to resolve your matter. Lastly, I hope everyone gets to spend some time with friends and family this festive season after this chaotic 2020 year that we have had. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hopefully 2021 be a little kinder to us all. Brendan POWNALL S/Con 4033211

ROLLINGSTONE STATE SCHOOL 4 x STORIES FROM STUDENTS Rainforest
There are things that go wild
By Emily Burstow
By Bluey
(Adapted from the poem ‘Rainforest Song’ by Libby Hathorn) (Adapted from ‘Things That Go Squark’ by Peter Wesley-Smith)
Oh don’t chop down the bright, green vine, the smell of air with birds in line. Don’t pull it out saw it down, tear it, chop it, make it frown. Don’t chop the trees that grew so high, the big, bright birds don’t say goodbye. Leave this forest, green, bright place, the shine of glory on this forest’s face.
There are things that go wild at midnight There are things that go roar loudly There are things that go moo When they’re put in a stew While orange lions roar proudly. There are things in the morning go woof There are things that go jumping and meow There are things that go neigh In the middle of the day And that sounds really intense and wow. There are things that give you a scary fright There things that go angry grr And things that go ribbit And things that go cricket But the best is the things that go prrr.
Mysterious things By Mirra
(Adapted from the poem ‘Things That Go Squark’, by Peter Wesley-Smith)
There are things that go shatter in the night, There are things go swish swash at dawn; There are things that go sweep In the aurora fleet Or whenever the blue curtains are drawn. There are things that go caw in the morning, There are things that benfooble and fight; Ev’ry ev’ning at light There are things that might bite, And there are things that go flump in the night. There are things that go munch in the spring-time, There are things that go bark in the fall; But the best of the breed Is a beauty indeed, A thing that goes skipping with a ball. Sadly we have lost the most beautiful, kind & caring lady within our Community. Bette Grady …. passed away totally unexpectedly of a heart attack. Bette was a very special lady who welcomed everyone into her home & always with an offer of a cuppa & some freshly baked cakes and slices. She truly was a most wonderful lady who loved life, her gardens & most of all; her family. Our thought s are with Bruce, Leigh & the family. Bette Grady ……. forever a beautiful & dignified lady who will be sadly missed. Stage 1 of our Community Multipurpose Shelter Shed has been completed!! It has been a long road, but now we can see the product and we can appreciate all our hard work. Thanks to Rudi our unpaid Project Manager for all your hard work. I don’t think we could have done it without you!! Stage 2 is the Lighting. We are certainly feeling overwhelmed by the generosity of our kind & friendly neighbours….Ornatas Lobster Farm: Simon, we thank you so much. Ornatas are providing all electrical materials along with the Electrician to complete the work. Congratulations to the winners in our Spring Raffle - Dan & Jo Jo won 1st prize. They were the lucky ones to take home the wheelbarrow full of garden goodies. 2nd & 3rd prizes went to Drew Anderson & Hayley Davis. Thank you to all those who bought tickets. Our Christmas Hamper raffle tickets are now available-$1 per ticket or 6 for $5. Raffle will be drawn on Saturday 19th December. Good Luck. We would like to welcome a new baby in the community. After four girls, Jennifer & Geoffrey welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the family. Congratulations to you all on the arrival of your son & little brother. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those wonderful people who have supported the Community Association over the last year with meetings, events (due to Covid only a couple of small events) raffles, lucky numbers & get together’s. Thank you to those wonderful people who volunteered their time throughout 2020 with the delivering of the Rally Rag. Every little bit helps! Thank you to all TBCA committee members, Cr Margie Ryder, Nick Dametto, Ornatas Lobster Farm & Helene James from TCC for all your help & support through the year & I wish you all a Merry Christmas & Happy New year. At this stage we can’t give a date for the opening of the Community shelter shed, but we will do a letter box drop for this event. Australia Day 2021 will be held in Toomulla Park. Guaranteed to have lots of fun! Please stay safe over the Christmas and New Year break and be sure to tell your neighbour or your local police if you are going away. It is always good to ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property while you are away. Merry Christmas & Happy New year to everyone, have a wonderful break, enjoy the festive season and I hope Santa is good to you. Cheers…..Rhonda.

Are you bushfire prepared? The bushfire season in Queensland runs from late July to February, and will vary within the state. The Fire Danger Rating (FDR) is an early indicator of potential danger and should act as your first trigger for action. When there’s a bushfire in your area, it’s up to you to take notice, seek information, make decisions and act.
