It is one of the most joyous occasions; when your family gets together to go pick up that new edition to the family. Your first family pet; however now that you have that cute little furry bundle of joy, how do you make sure that you keep everything intact and he/she does not take control of your house by barking, chewing and urinating on everything? I have taking the time to list some dog training tips that work if followed and applied consistently you are sure to keep your house intact and quiet.
Take her outside: When you first get your puppy home take her outside first. Most likely she is going to be very tense from the excitement of the car ride all the new faces, new surroundings and new sounds. Let her stay outside with you until she goes potty before you take her inside. If she gets a feel of the grass and dirt under her paws she will begin to understand that this is where she is supposed to use the potty. If you take her inside and she has a accident; most likely she will do it again. Do not play with her or pet her: while you are outside with her and she is learning how to go in the toilet area; refrain from playing with her. Yes she is all cute and cuddly and you want to hold her and pet her; however she must begin to learn that during the time she is in this designated area this is the time she uses the potty. Make her feel special: Now that she has used the toilet area for the first time; make over her and tell her how proud you are. Give her lots of attention and love and she will understand that she has just done something great. You can even give her some puppy treats. Crate training: This is one thing I highly recommend especially when you are first learning how to potty train. This dog training tip will actually make everything much easier for you. Dogs will not soil where they sleep and if you get your puppy used to sleeping in a crate they will eventually learn how to become potty trained much quicker than if you decided not to potty train. There is nothing inhumane about crate training; your dog will eventually grow attached to it and will understand that this is there bed. However the biggest piece of advice I can give you is that you want to make sure the dog crate is not too big. If it is they will go to one end of the crate and do their business and then come and sleep on the other clean end. If your crate is too big; take a piece of cardboard and place in in half the crate to cut off a portion of the crate so the puppy can not use it. Of course as the puppy begins to grow and becomes potty trained you can remove the cardboard from the middle of the crate. If you are consistent with these dog training tips that work you will notice that your puppy will become a great addition to your family. If you found these tips helpful then feel free to visit the
