When you have a decision to lose weight you will most surely come across many weight loss tips that offer you advice on what you should and shouldn't do. The major way is taking one of those miraculous weight loss products or diets. In this way at the beginning you may see some good results but in the long term you will end up in a worse situation that you were before starting your weight loss efforts. The fact is such products that promise quick and dramatic results do not work as advertised. There are many reasons of why they fail. Weight loss diets should be specific and tailored to the needs of each individual because you cannot just follow a diet given to your friend and expect to see the same results. What works well for one person may not work for another and vice versa If you are overweight for some years don't think you could lose the extra pounds in just a few weeks? If it was so simple and magic then the majority of the population would not suffer from obesity and people would not care about finding ways to lose weight. It is true that there are some cases that people managed to lose a lot of weight in a short time but this is only the rule exception. Keep in mind that in order to lose weight you may need a lot of time and effort. Alternative is the other way to lose weight which is the healthy way. In this way you are guarantee that the whole process will do more good than bad to your overall health. Also you will not get the weight you lost back after a few months. The good think about healthy weight loss is that you know in advance that the method will work. It may take more time than adopting a chemical diet but the results will be solid and permanent. • Do not skip meals. It has just the opposite effect of what you want. Your diet schedule should include a good breakfast, three small size meals with three hours interval between them and one lunch meal taken at least 3 hours before going to bed. • You should eat all kind of foods from the food pyramid. There is no exclusion of any nutrient or vitamin from your daily intake. • Try to include in your diet as many fruits and vegetables as you can. Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened but fresh fruits have natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which is needed by the body, and fruits of course are an excellent source of vitamins. Fresh vegetables are better than cooked or canned vegetables. • Deal with sweets and fatty food as your enemies. Remember that sweet and fatty things generally mean more calories. Chocolates should not be a part of your diet. Even the bitter


chocolates are not good for you because though the sugar is less there is still the cream in them. • Alcoholic beverages are not good for you. Beer can be fattening and the rest of the alcoholic drinks may not be fattening by themselves but after a couple of swigs you will be in no position to watch your diet and your appetite too will be something to battle with. • Do not fall for snacks in between meals. The main problem with most snacks and junk food is that they are usually less filling and contain a lot of fat and calories. • Drink a lot of water daily. As soon as you wake up, gulp down a glass of cool water. Have another glass of water while you are having the meal. This is a way of making yourself full so that you can actually rise from the table eating less but feeling full just the same. So that you get that feeling that you are full faster. • When you decide it's time to start working out, start slowly. You can walk around the house. Start moving. Do anything that makes your body move and spend calories. Joining a gym or buy a bicycle and take regular rides are very good. • Smoking is bad for weight loss. It may lead to erratic eating habits and excessive dependence on things like coffee. • Black tea or coffee without cream and sugar can actually be good for you. But the caffeine in the coffee is not really good for you because it is an alkaloid and can affect other functions of your body like the metabolism. • Choose white meat rather than red. White meat, which includes fish and fowl, is miles better than red meat, which includes beef and pork for those trying to lose weight. • High Fiber multigrain breads are better than white breads. Remember how I told you to increase the fiber content in your food; well this is the answer to that. It is not only better in terms of the fiber content but also in terms of the protein content as well. Remember there is only one thing that you have to bear in mind. Weight loss does not happen by itself. You are the master and slave of own well being.
