JOHN ISNER
S I N N TE P M A C
July 17 - 21, 2011 Rome, Georgia
MEET JOHN ISNER John began playing tennis at age nine at the Carolina Tennis Academy. John played tennis for four years at the University of Georgia, earned AllAmerican honors each season from 2004-2007, and is the school’s all-time leader in singles and doubles wins. In May 2007, after leading his beloved school to an NCAA team title, he reached the singles final and captured the doubles title in front of his home crowd in Athens. John began playing professional events in 2007. After competing in only a few tournaments, the towering American’s breakthrough came later that summer, when he reached the finals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington, DC. While en route to his first ATP final, he posted a record five straight wins in a third set tiebreak. Thanks to his incredible week in Washington, his ranking rose to #193 John Isner and Serena Williams in the world after just six weeks as a pro. Since 2007, John has been recognized as one of the future stars of American tennis. John has caught the attention from many due to being the only player in the top 150 to attend college for 4 years, having one of the hardest serves, being the second tallest player on tour (6’9”), and his fast rise to a ATP top 20 ranking. Additionally, John holds the record for the longest match ever played in tennis history. His heroic battle at Wimbledon against Frenchman Nicolas Mahut lasted for 11 hours and 5 minutes, and ended with John’s 70-68 victory in the fifth set. OBJECTIVE NCAA Quality Training
The coaching staff will provide campers the same championship instruction that the UGA Men’s Tennis team and John Isner have received. All levels of players are invited and our objective is that campers will learn valuable life lessons of a good attitude, enthusiasm, and hard work within a fun environment. For the beginner, basic fundamentals and stroke production will be emphasized. For the intermediate players, reďŹ nement of the fundamentals -- footwork, strokes and strategy -- will be stressed. The advanced players will be trained at the same intensity level that we train our Bulldog college players. Along with match play and conditioning, the emphasis is concentrated in challenging the campers regardless of their level of play.
COACHING UGA Coach Will Glenn
John Isner and Coach Will Glenn have teamed up again for the second annual John Isner Tennis Camp! Coach Will Glenn has been at the University of Georgia as a coach since 2005 and as a player since 1998. He has spent the past 12 years helping the program win National Championships as both a player and coach. In 2008 he was named Associate Head Coach alongside Manuel Diaz after winning back to back NCAA National Championships. Will helped to coach John Isner during his time at UGA and then on the pro tour in 2009 where he traveled with John to Australia and New Zealand before returning to coach for the Dawgs in the Spring. He and John are very excited about bringing the John Isner Bulldog Tennis Camp to Rome and hope to make it one of the top camps in the country for high level junior players.
