Ferdinand Bac, famous writer, decorator, painter and landscape artist, was the great nephew of emperor Napoleon the Ist. For the model he referred to was the villa Adriana de Tibur (at Tivoli, close to Rome) where Emperor Hadrian, in the second century AD, had built reproductions of the monuments he had admired in his journeys. His vocation as a landscape artist. He succeeded in doing so at Les Colombières between 1920 and 1924, transforming an ancient construction into a magnificent residence in the middle of a garden of some 7 acres, where each part is inspired by a country of the Mediterranean. Located above the Bay of Menton, which poets often called the Pearl of France, Les Colombières is a sumptuous property and a classified historic monument. The construction is composed of a 545m2 principal villa, a 87m2 guest house and a 115m2 independent apartment. It has recently been renovated and equipped for full modern comfort.
