17 March Beatrice Von Prussen Arctic and Antarctic, as an Artist aboard a Science Ship Beatrice is an artist inspired by nature, working with scientists exploring the world around us to make prints and illustrations. She hopes these will encourage others to see the natural world with wonder and awe. —————————————————

Ian Keable The Century of Deception
In the 1700s the people of England seemed to be especially gullible, even believing a woman could give birth to rabbits. These hoaxes were widely written about, and depicted amusingly and brilliantly by satirical artists (Hogarth; Gillray). Ian demonstrates how they are memorable, for both their imaginative nature and the differing motives of the tricksters. —————————————————

Annual General Meeting followed by u3a Travel Group : Uzbekistan - the Silk Road
2,000 years ago the Silk Road developed as the world’s greatest overland trade route, running from China through Uzbekistan (the heart of the Silk Road) to Venice. Come on our journey as we visit Khiva, Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent, beautiful cities full of the ‘4 BM’s’: beautiful mosques, minarets, museums and madrassas covered in fine turquoise tiles.
