It will feature trained musicians who will give insight on the various facets of being a skillful musician. (This class is for IMD Registered Orchestra Members.) Our objective is to provide a learning and sharing environment and equipped musicians to take their musicianship to the next level.

Course Outline I. SESSION A: MUSIC THEORY, TECHNIQUES, AND EXERCISES We will discuss and conduct various exercises dealing with music theory, scales, sightreading, articulation, tone, blend and dynamics.

SESSION B: MASTER CLASSES During the Master Class session, the musicians are divided into groups of like instruments.

A skillful musician will instruct each group, discussing and demonstrating better playing techniques specific to their instrument.

Choir directors must build their own skills before they can effectively lead a choir. While there are various styles among directors, there must be a clear communication with choir members to ensure accurate song delivery. This session is a fun and interactive experience, fostering hands-on practice of techniques.

Vocal technique is an extremely important part of the development of this musical instrument. The training for this class is rigorous and will challenge even the most experienced vocalist. The following will be enhanced: breath support, understanding and prevention of hoarseness, how to properly use one’s voice, how to avoid misuse of the voice, and much more. (This class is open to all singers and soloists.) After completing this training, participants should be able to properly use their vocal instrument.

As we build upon our relationships and learn to effectively communicate with God first, then we will find that the congregation will become much more involved in worship and will have a much deeper and more meaningful experience. The manifestation of the Spirit of God during praise and worship demands that everyone be like-minded and in one accord. That, in and of itself, helps to create an atmosphere for healing and deliverance. This session will demonstrate being led by the Spirit as we communicate in worship and how to lead corporate worship much more effectively to the glory of God. Course Outline I. Know God: His Word, His voice, His heart, His presence II. Understand what is God saying to your church in this season? (1 Chronicles 12:32) A. Be in touch with the move and work of the Spirit in the congregation you serve B. Select songs that relate to that move C. Study, memorize and quote scripture that supports the move III. Understand your position and function as worship leader A. Be confident and stand in spiritual authority as you lead B. You Can't Fake This (Keep It Real) C. If you worship, so will they.

D. If they trust you, they will follow.

E. Lead them; don't leave them F. Keep a servant heart - you are serving them. They are not serving you.

Effective leadership is what pulls out a person’s God-given potential. In this panel session, leaders who have proven and effective leadership in music ministry, will share tools and strategies that contribute their success. Topics include creating an atmosphere for worship, the critical importance of personal Bible study, interpersonal skills and communication, dealing with difficult people, shared leadership structure, and maintaining order and excellence. This is an interactive Q&A session.

This is an opportunity for music ministries to be observed, assessed and mentored while sharing their gifts and talents. A panel of notable artists will assess new artists and offer feedback to help improve the level and overall execution of their ministry presentation. There is no cost to participate. It is first come first served. The goal here is to give new artists an opportunity to “BRING IT!” as well as, provide mentorship to help new artists prepare for music ministry in general. This session is repeated, Wednesday – Friday.)

This session will give the tools to help create music that is spiritually guided. Do you feel you have the call of God to write songs? This class will help you to move towards answering and fulfilling that call.

This class is designed to give you some skills that will focus in on your gift and how to make it a blessing to the body of Christ. Participants will learn how to recognize their gifts and move forward to develop them in the purpose and plan of God.

Lack of unity, peace, and harmony is a heart problem, not a music problem!

BITTERNESS • Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. (Hebrews 12:14-15) •

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

ANIMOSITY • So Esau harbored animosity toward Jacob and kept saying to himself, "The time to mourn for my father is very near. That's when I'm going to kill my brother Jacob." (Genesis 27:41) •

His words are as smooth as butter, but he harbors animosity in his heart. His words seem softer than oil, but they are really like sharp swords. (Psalm 55:21)

DISCORD • There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. (Proverbs 6:16-19) •

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. (Romans 16:17)

They often walk away with only the compensation they receive for the appointment, ministry assignment or gig. They have neither investments nor a secondary income. Often, we see that some of the most familiar (famous) artists leave this earth with no insurance, with their fan base left to attend benefit concerts to raise money for funeral services. This is a disservice to their legacy. This course will deal with the importance of branding, investing and insuring your future and your family’s future. It also gives wind, brass and string instrumentalists an outlet to use their gifts to glorify God and edify the body of Christ. This session will provide resources and strategies that will help facilitate the process of starting an orchestra in your church, district or jurisdiction. (This class is for IMD Registered Orchestra Members.) Our goal is to connect with individuals across the Church of God in Christ that have an interest in starting an orchestra in their local area. Course Title: I Say Praise, You Say Worship: Blending the Traditional with the Contemporary (Interactive Practice) Facilitator: Email: Social Media Connect: Facebook:____________Twitter:___________Instagram:_________ Course Description: Given the various genres and styles of “worship” music, it is important to offer something for everybody. A “full service” worship team offers a buffet of musical options and experiences so that the entire congregation, across all ages and preferences, can participate. Learn how to embrace modern, contemporary music without completely elimination more traditional music. This class will provide demonstrative techniques to help worship teams lead congregations into a richer, more resonant, and full worship experience.

Topics of discussion will include, organizing a successful youth choir that would be multidimensional in structure, and providing opportunities for youth to establish purpose and meaning while being a part of a youth choir.

Course Outline I. Personal devotion, prayer, fasting and a personal relationship with God as Youth Choir Coordinator II. Know the vision of your Leader III. Appoint a team to assist or work with a team that has been established IV. Ensure proper screening and background checks for working team V.
