Kit Of Elements Professor Chadaphan Hawinsai Intro to Design I
PROGRESSION VS. DETERIORATION In this project. I was given a kit of elements consisting of simple planes, masses, and volumes that will be uniquely assembled into a rich three-dimensional spatial construct. The project focuses on breaking down elements and constructing them into a series of models with a sense of scales, mass, and structure while enhancing them towards greater complexity and refinement. During the process, I came up with the concept of “Progression vs. Deterioration” to help guide me throughout the development of this project.

PROJECT FINAL In the final model, a hierarchy is created going from small scale-spaces to large scale-spaces. Deterioration is represented by the large scalespaces, and progression is represented by the small scale-spaces. The model showcases progression and deterioration based on the perspective one looks at. Going from the small spaces to the larger space, one can see the process of breaking down. on the other hand, going from the large spaces to the smaller space, one can see the process of building up.

The small and middle model is embedded within the large model. The large model act as a protector for the small and the middle model. Final model
Progression and deterioration have an independent relationship with each other. There must be deterioration in order to have progression and vice versa. Without either, there will no longer be a balance in our world.
Movement In A Field Professor Chadaphan Hawinsai Intro to Design I
REALITY VS. FANTASY In this project. , I was assigned to come up with a pair of dichotomy after watching the film called “The Red Balloon”. This dichotomy is then developed through a graphic, which was used to create layered drawings that emphasized inherent hybridity, continuity, and a sense of transformation. In my case, the dichotomy that I came up with after watching the film waws “reality vs. fantasy”, which became my concept for this project. This idea is then applied to the idea of profane and sacred. Reality represented profane, while fantasy represented sacred.

AXOMETRIC OF FINAL MODEL
On a micro level, the wood element is the profane(reality) and the museum board is the sacred(fantasy). The intersection of the profane and sacred creates a new type of space where the characteristics of both exist. The sacred pierces through the profane, and it begins to integrate into the profane to become one whole model. This is parallel to a world where both fantasy and reality exist. A balance is created from both elements..

Pedestal final model
On a macro level, the pedestal is the profane (reality) and the intervention is the sacred (fantasy). The walls of the pedestal created boundaries and limits, where it resembles reality and the mundane things of one’s everyday life. However, the intervention penetrates through the walls or boundaries to open up an opening that offers hope The intersection of the profane and sacred is the climax of the project. It represents how fantasy can help cope with one’s mundane lifestyle, creating a balance between the two.

PROCESS
Located in Whangarei, New Zealand, the house is built on the cliffside of Whangarei falls. The project was first started through the analysis of different houses such as the Delta Shelter, 4x4 House, and the House of Bianchi. Then two process models and a final process model were done before developing the final model. Two different sites were chosen for the two draft model, before narrowing down to one specific site. The propose of this project was to explore how the structure can react to the environment.

First Process model
The final process model was done with an intention to create a new armature, new elements, as well as a facade system. The armature of the house is constructed with 2 elements: concrete and wood. In the case of this model, the profane is the armature and the sacred is the facade system. The profane represents the roughness of everyday society while the sacred act as an escape from daily routines.
AXOMETRIC OF FINAL PROCESS The final process model was analyzed thorugh multiple layers of drawings in form of an axometric. The facade of the model was hightlighted in a different lightweight to show it’s importance.
Little small étude models were created with objects can be found in the site. The propose of these models was to experiment with different elements before going into the final process model. Moving pieces such as a moving platform were constructed in some of these étude models. These moving pieces then were used throughout the final project. étude 1

The house of Maoris is occupied with great spatial qualities, going from more compact space to more open space. The house also has many public and private spaces. The circulation of the house guides a movement where the guests will experience all these spaces from compact to open. The moment in which the guest reaches out in the open, they will experience a surprise (The views of Whangarei fall). This will create a sense of relief and comfort for them. The house also contains many moving pieces in which it opens up or closes up spaces, which creates public/private spaces. It also acts as an expansion to the spaces throughout the house, helping to create that surprise and sense of relief.
Public intro private
This is a private space where it is only accessible through a moving platform. Space is highlighted by a facade system. The facade of the house is a movement created the many triangular shapes, it mimics the waterfall that is next to the house. As it’s shown, the facade is integrated throughout the house. It shows how the house acts as an escape to societal duties and slowing cleansing away the stress and burden of society, just like how water slowing erase away rocks. And at the end of the facade, a little splash moment is created which is similar to the waterfall as it drops into the base of the water. This represents the stress and burden is being shattered. The facade helps to create a special moment in that space.

PROCESS MODEL The project is located at the University of South Florida between the recreational center and the CWY building. The program for the building is to create an extension of the ROTC program, which is centered around the CWY building. The building has 2 floors, with the first consisted of hallways and a huge training ground for the ROTC students to train on. The second floor consists of a resting area where one could get a cool drink and a quick lunch break while being able to look around the views of the area including the training ground.

PROJECT FINAL
AXOMETRIC OF FINAL MODEL
The concept behind the Wall of honor is tension vs. relief, with tension being the tight spaces and relief being that open space. As one would enter the spaces inside the Wall of honor, one must first go through the tight, narrow walkway. Then reaching the training ground, where one would experience the giant open space and have a sense of relief. The ROTC training ground also has a moving rooftop that can slide open, creating natural lighting and opens up space. Since the area is always very dark around night time, and there is a parking lot where students sometimes parked behind the Wall of honor. There will light on the ground that will illuminate the building and the pathway along the Wall of honor.
The void space inside the building helps illuminate the Wall of honor in the night time as well. The light signifies that building represents the future leaders of our soldiers protecting our society, creating a brighter future for all the citizens of the country.
The Verticle Light Garden Professor Nancy Sanders Intro to Design II
Light Studies In this project, light is introduced as a new design tool and aims for more refined qualities of habitable space. I was given the opportunities to explore the interrelationship between space and light, and between tectonic and stereotomic forms of making. The project was first started with light study sketches, where I was about to learn about light and how light circulates in a verticle building. Then I had to make 2 lightboxes where further experiments were conducted in order to manipulate light. Lastly, I was assigned the final process model which determined the final form and the general spaces of the building.

The program I chose for this building was a planetarium. The building has many openings where one can stargaze, which allows one to view from different perspectives. The building also has an open rooftop, which is the prime spot for stargazers. As we move up each floor, it gets darker and darker, allowing for a better view of the stars. One of the main features of the building is a clear fire stairway that lights up, making the journey up to the top floor an experience. Located on the first floor, there is also a glass tank of a constellation(The Big Dipper)..
