GREEN MOBILITY Brief :- The Urban Design Studio Was Conducted With A Focus On The Principle Of Green Mobility.a Case Area Of 2.9 Kms Was Iden fied From Kurla Sta on To Ves Campus Area To Help Relate The Students To The Urban Transporta on Issues Faced By Them On A Daily Basis. The Case Area Was Divided Into 4 Stretches Based On The Urban Form & Changing Nature Of The Street. Mapping & Understanding Different Urban Layers That Make Up Urban Space. Site Observa ons & Surveys Helped To Iden fy The Stakeholders And Understand How Users Navigate & Interact With The Urban Form & Its Impact On Their Behaviour. Applying Methods & Techniques Of Analysis To Understand The Crowd Density, Vehicular Count & Area Of Comfort Zone. ISSUE MAPPING •THE ANALYSIS BROUGHT OUT KEY UTILITARIAN ISSUES SUCH AS CIRCULATION CLASHES AND UNSAFE PEDESTRIAN ACCESS, LACK OF DEDICATED, SHADED WALKWAYS, OVERCROWDING OF VEHICLES DURING PEAK HOURS, ENCROACHMENT OF WALKWAYS BY PARKING, HAWKING & OTHER ILLEGAL BUT CRITICAL ACTIVITIES. •QUALITATIVE ISSUES INCLUDED FOUL SMELLS. GARBAGE, UNEVEN AND BROKEN FOOTPATHS, AND CLASHES WITH OTHER STAKEHOLDERS SUCH AS HAWKERS, VEHICLES AND OTHER STREET ACTIVITIES.
GREEN MOBILITY STRUCTURAL MAPPING •CREATION OF PEDESTRIAN PLAZAS TO SERVE AS SPILLOUT FROM THE STATION AREA. •CREATION OF SAFE, COMFORTABLE & CONTINUOUS CYCLING & WALKING PATH WITH CYCLE SHARING DOCKS AT EVERY 500M •ACTIVATING GREEN POCKETS THROUGHOUT THE SITE BY INTEGRATING THEM INTO THE NON MOTORIZED TRANSPORT NETWORK. •PLACEMAKING AS A TOOL TO TACKLE IMPORTANT JUNCTIONS/ ACTIVITY NODES. •CREATING A PLEASANT STREET EXPERIENCE TO PROMOTE WALKABILITY. PROCESS MODELS
AS SHOWN IN THE ABOVE PROCESS MODULES WERE SCOOPED OUT TO CREATE THE FORM KEEPING THE CONTEXT IN MIND I.E. THE MOUNTAINS BEHIND SO THAT THE CONCEPT RESEMBLES CRITICAL REGIONALISM AND ALSO SHOWCASES THE PAY OF HEIGHT.
FIRST FLOOR COLUMNS GROUND FLOOR
OPENINGS WERE PLANNED KEEPING IN MIND TO CREATE MODERN YET FUNCTIONAL OPENINGS THAT BALANCED THE ENVIRONMENT INSIDE OF THE STRUCTURE MAKING IT THERMALLY COMFORTABLE
PLINTH AND LANDSCAPE
LANDSCAPE HAS BEEN ADDED IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT ENHANCED THE STRUCTURE AND SUPPORTS THE CONCEPT OF MODERNISM AS WELL AS MINIMALISM. VERTICAL WINDOWS WERE ADDED TO GET SUNLIGHT IN THE ROOM WHICH IS IMPORTANT IN A LIBRARY VERTICAL WINDOWS AND FINS ALSO ACTS AS VENTURI EFFECT.
`SEMI OPEN AREAS HAVE BEEN CREATED ON THE NORTH TO SHOW THE VIEW OF UTSAV CHOWK AND TAKE THE NORTHLIGHT LIGHT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
