AWARENESS IS PART OF “CHANGING THE GAME�!
In sixth grade students begin a World Area Studies course. We will be exploring Latin America, Canada, Europe, South America and Australia. Our focus will be on both physical and human geography. This means we will include the culture of the people and the history of the regions and people.

FIRST CHECK BY NAME ON THE BOARD STUDENTS WITH ONE CHECK WILL WRITE A WRITTEN REPORT ABOUT THEIR BEHAVIOR. IT WILL BE SIGNED BY THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN AND RETURNED TO ME WITHIN 2 SCHOOL DAYS.
THIRD OFFENSE
SECOND CHECK BY NAME ON THE BOARD STUDENTS WITH TWO CHECKS WILL WRITE THE REPORT FOR THE FIRST CHECK AND GET IT SIGNED BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN. IT WILL BE RETURNED TO THE SCHOOL WITHIN 2 SCHOOL DAYS. I WILL ALSO MAKE A PHONE CALL TO THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN. IF THE STUDENT IS INVOLVED IN A SPORT OR CLUB, I WILL GIVE A REPORT TO THE STUDENT’S COACH OR SPONSOR.

OTHER TIMES, IT WILL BE A WORKSHEET OR STUDY GUIDE. IT WILL INCLUDE TESTS WHICH HAVE BEEN GRADED, TOO. THE PORTFOLIO MAY INCLUDE SCREEN SHOTS OR URL’S TO WEBSITES THE STUDENT HAS CREATED, OR A LINK TO A MOVIE THE STUDENT PRODUCED. IT IS A COMPLETE RECORD OF EVERYTHING WE DO IN THIS CLASS. ABOUT THE TEACHER
My name is Ms. Buckley, and I care about student success.. I have helped hundreds of students become successful in History and Social Studies in my years of teaching. This is my 14th year teaching, and you are in good hands. I am excited about my content area, and my love of Social Studies is contagious. From the moment my students meet me, they notice that I am sincere. I create an environment where authentic learning is encouraged. I invest in my students. Ultimately, they begin to invest in themselves. I have high expectations, and perhaps, the most important thing I teach is kindness. I model it, and I require it.
I am from Dothan, Alabama, and I lived in Blue Springs, Alabama for the past 23 years. I have two sons who are in college, and one sweet little granddaughter named Zelda! Both of my sons earned scholarships to Auburn University. My oldest son, John-Michael, decided to go into Aviation Mechanics and Powerplant Technologies and has transferred to another school. My youngest son, Dusty, is getting his degree in Business and is still at Auburn. I can't forget my best friend, the most amazing dog in the world. Her name is Mercy. I applied for this job all the way from southeast Alabama because I saw that this district had Apple Distinguished status. I taught at another school with amazing Apple technologies that revolutionized the learning experience. Since that school closed its doors, I have been actively searching for another Apple school. I found you!!! I earned my BS Degree in American and Latin American History at Troy University. I, also, earned my Masters Degree in Secondary Education World and American History at Troy University. I have been teaching for Troy University since 2013, and I continue to teach World and American Histories online on a part time basis for them.
