01 Urban Loop A new face for piazza Lupo The project is focused on the recovery of the ex Lupo’s gym and the homonymous square. Although it is located within the historic center of Catania, it has been marked over the years by numerous events of social hardship. The project involves the re-functionalization of the single building, converted into a cultural center, and the redevelopment of the entire Piazza Lupo, involving also via Spadaccini.

02 ParkFarm Archeological park of Santa Venera al pozzo “Project exhibited at the MuRa (Museo della Rappresentazione CT)” The project was born during a Landscape workshop that also saw the participation of the landscape architect Pierre Donadieu. The design was developed according to the theme of the “campaign”, assigned by the professors during the workshop. The goal was to enhance the landscape features of the site through architectural choices capable of creating a focus on archeology using agriculture.

Restoration of an old building in the centre of Trecastagni Project selected among the best works of the 2016/18 biennium and published in “The initial challenge of the project: four different perspectives from Europe architecture teaching: Bologna, Catania, Porto, Valladolid The project regards the restoration of an old building located in the heart of Trecastagni. From a detailed survey it was possible to trace the pathologies that hit the building. Particularly, after the identification of visible signs of deterioration which clearly indicate the pathological presence of humidity, we proceeded with the interventions. In order to optimize the conservation and enhancement of the building, it was carried out in compliance with the requirements of minimality, compatibility, potential reversibility and recognizability.

04 Let’s put the accent! Regeneration of a building in the Nesima district (CT) The project aims to redevelop a social housing building located in Nesima, a dormitory district created in the second half of the nineteenth century. All the choices made on the building have provided for the improvement of the architectural and energy features and have also had the objective of activating a social recovery process linked to the context.

05 The Leaf Sacred architecture in Senegal “Participation in the Kaira Looro competition The project draws inspiration from the leafs that store water for the survival of the plant. Furthermore, the form that extends upwards represents the natural human desire to achieve something superior. This space is designed to allow any person belonging to different kind of worship to find the right place to pray and have a significant experience of cultural union.

06 The Firefly Building in a tight and long lot “Winner of the competition for the “Architecture and Composition II” course (2016/17) as the best front and back solution” The project aims to replace an urban gap with a mixed-use building (commercial and residential). In a tight and long lot, light is an essential element. The project starts from this assumption and tries to find a solution to give the most brightness to the interiors space without limiting the privacy. This becomes possible thanks to the use of opalescent elements alternating with solar glasses.

Digital survey Photogrammetric survey techniques The photogrammetric survey is a technique based on the principles of Computer Vision and photogrammetry, which uses photographic images to reconstruct three-dimensional real objects. These techniques are having more and more following in the field of architecture and archeology because they allow to acquire a lot of information about the artifact and because they are often associated with the techniques of representation with virtual reality.

Collage renders Between architecture and art A group of Portuguese architects, the “Fala atelier”, decided to use digital collages as an instrument to communicate their projects. These images contain irony and sentiment and, despite they doesn’t have an overwhelming resemblance to reality, are able to give an immediate clarity of reading. On the next page, there are a repropose of the interior renderings presented in the project “The architecture of permanence” with a personal reinterpretation of digital collages.
