Bulla Meeting Point- Briefing Session with Kon Gogos (Run Organiser, centre)
Attendance was surprisingly good given the weather and only a few members had to cancel due to expected bad weather which didn’t happen. After the few cancellations, 32 cars ended up participating in the run which is moderate but a good group of members. Including new members, Nicholas & Virginia Cable their first run, Samuel Farag and Henry Ng and brother Isaac Ng who were introduced to the group at the start.
After a short briefing by Kon Gogos about the road rules and reminders of responsible driving and safety requirements new members were introduced to the group followed by group photos at around 9:30am.
Shortly after 9: 45am the group departed the parking lot of BP Hungry Jacks 82 Bulla Rd, Bulla embarking on the twohour journey towards Mt. Macedon along the designated route.
Members started by heading north through Wildwood, Bolinda and Romsey before turning north after Kilmore towards Pyalong and then south towards Lancefield.
Ten minutes into the trip though, came the first and only unexpected obstacle which was about a kilometre stretch of muddy and wet gravel roadworks caused by the rainy weather.
Members were very careful and slow going across this stretch of road as no one wanted to experience any mishaps to their beloved cars. Luckily members went over this obstacle without incident and the rest of the trip was picturesque going through the scenic country roads towards the Macedon Ranges.
Apart from the scenic beauty of these roads, driving through them would be otherwise pretty boring, but not this time. This time, driving on a convoy of super Porsche sports cars twisting and winding their way through these beautiful scenic roads has a magic feeling about it that is hard to put into words. On this day, there were few local drivers and no bikers on the roads (thanks to the weather) which were wet but for the most part sunny. Members even greeted by bright and vivid rainbow with all its majestic colours from the top of one clear unobstructed treeless hilltop. The view was truly magnificent even though the drivers may not have appreciated it as much as the passengers/navigators.
Along the way not only did we enjoy our cars and the sound of powerful engines but also the beautiful shades of yellow, green and red leaves of shedding trees on rolling hills and meadows. Thick misty forest ranges with the occasional blue sky shining through openings of the raining clouds.
Arriving at Mr. Cafe at around 11:30am marked the end of a memorable trip and a few more group photos. Afterward, members got to enjoy a well-deserved lunch and coffee break. Trips like these are trips that every sports car enthusiast must drive at least once.
