Dozens of community projects have benefited from full or par tial funding from this pot of cash. The money has gone to suppor t inclusive ventures for all ages and abilities. Here are a selection of some wonderful projects that have been made possible by the RRR.
What is in store for the future? The project has ended and all £6.7 million has been spent…
We have just topped off 10 years of great projects!
Let’s celebrate!!
What did we do?
The good news is that the Community Fund has been so successful and popular that Rooftop residents through the Customer Panel awarded £156,000 to 74 local community projects in the period up until the end March 2015. The funding has made a fantastic difference in local communities. The Young People’s Fund has also been set up to provide grants of up to £300 to young people living in Rooftop homes, or who are Rooftop customers. The grants provide funding to suppor t training, and also attendance at interviews to help young people get into work. The Community Fund will continue in 2016 and the future which is great news for local communities. Find out more about the Funds and how to apply on the Rooftop website. Let’s celebrate – and say a big thank you to all the residents and local communities who have been involved.

with the Rent Restructuring Reserve fund.
We have just topped off 10 years of great projects! Let’s celebrate the achievements of the RRR, projects improving the quality of life for Rooftop tenants and communities.
What is RRR? The Rent Restructuring Reserve fund is quite a mouthful! But this fund has brought untold benefits to Rooftop Housing Group tenants over the last 10 years and we want to tell you all about it. This fund was created 10 years ago when the government insisted we raise our rents in line with national levels. Rooftop decided to use the extra revenue this created to benefit the tenants. The total sum to spend over 10 years was £6,700,000!
Who decided what to spend the money on? – We all did! We asked you about your priorities and came up with a range of wonderful projects. On top of the main programme of improvements we made £100,000 of the money available as a Community Fund. Tenants themselves decided how this money should be spent. There was no funding elsewhere for these projects so they could not have been done at all without the RRR.
You are at the heart of what we do
• External cladding has
been added to many homes, making them warmer, less damp, ‘greener’ and extending their life. Fuel bills in these homes have been substantially cut!
Our tenants are at the heart of all we do so the range of projects were chosen on the basis that they would improve the lives of as many tenants as possible.
• Contribution
to new housing in the Mar tin Avenue area of Evesham, doubling the number of proper ties on the site.
• New front and
back doors programmes – almost 2 million pounds spent. 2,000 front doors replaced!
• Extensions or loft conversions to
houses adding an extra bedroom so that growing families can remain in their communities. Extensions to one bed bungalows to add a bedroom. This makes downsizing more attractive to elderly residents thereby freeing up a larger home for a family in need.
• Pocket parks have
been created with the help of the main fund and the community fund. Parks are impor tant to good quality of life for all in our communities.
• Outside
security lights were fitted to all bungalows across our regions to improve security and safety.
• Solar panels or air
pump heating were installed in a number of proper ties, dramatically reducing fuel bills and using renewable energy.
• New kitchens and bathrooms now include decorating and non-slip flooring.
• Parking spaces
have been created for many reducing congestion and improving safety.
• The Freephone
repairs number was introduced and initially funded from the RRR.
This wonderful project has now come to an end, but look at what we have achieved!
