INTRODUCTION Born and brought up in nigeria, I have been very fortunate to be living amidst a plethora of cultures that my country offers. In spite of tremendous diversity, the cultures somehow found a way to blend so beautifully. even with the blend in cultures there seemed to be a disconnect between culture and aesthetics. This inspired me to consider new ways of tying the aspects togehter. In my search for new ways to bond these two, i began to consider who, what and why i was tying together. Since i began to ask those questions i have found that being able to respond to those three questions my designs have been able to please and its end users. Moving to Chicago, and to study under a ‘Miesian’ curriculum, was an opportunity I knew I couldn’t miss. I got to know fast, how much there was to learn, and how much there was to do. Even after working with amazing professors for five years, the thought of learning and sharing something new still excites me. I am ready to channelize all the things I have learnt in to practical experience, and along the way exchange my set of skills and knowledge with other colleagues.

Draw letterforms The adobe garamond pro font is a serif type font and while I was re-drawing the letterforms, I drew out the outlines of the letters. Trying as much as possible to keep the slender portions of the letters slender and then gradually transform into the thicker parts. I also paid attention to the length of the tails of the letters and tried to keep the curved and rounded portions at the angle of curvature the actual letters have. The little details is what makes each font different.

The composition for the word "Disruption", makes use of the letters 'S, R & U' to disrupt the word on the composition. The idea of this composition is to use letters from the word to disrupt itself. The change in size and displacement of the letters S, R & U disrupt the uniformity of the word and composition.
The composition for the word "transition" shows how the word changes from uppercase to lower case and also in color shade. The change in height increases the displacement of the letters. After the mid point where there is a mix between the uppercase and lowercase, the letters start to return to the right position. Hence showing how the word "transition" made a transition.

TEXt Print situates words in space more relentlessly than writing ever did. Writing moves words from the sound world to a world of visual space, but print locks words into position in this space. Control of position is everything in print. Printed texts look machine-made, as they are. In handwriting, control of space tends to be ornamental, ornate, as in calligraphy. Typographic control typically impresses most by its tidiness and invisibility: the lines perfectly regular, all justified on the right side, everything coming out even visually, and without the aid of guidelines or ruled borders that often occur in manuscripts.
This is an insistent world of cold, non-human, facts.
The first sentence in the composition, has the space between the words constant but in an irregularly spaced manner showing the "relentless" situation of words which print has over writing. The next line shows how writing would usually place words on page; which is the regular way of typing which word processing softwares try to imitate. The line which follows it leaves spaces on both sides which shows how print can lock words in a space. "Control of position is everything in print" is offset more to the right than the preceding line to show the control of position being referred to. The next line is italicized to imitate calligraphy and show something similar to ornate spacing. The spacing of words in italics change to fit the slant in the letters just like calligraphy. The sentence which talks about typography is broken up and shows right sided justification, even spacing (increasing the line spacing is intended to make the space more obvious.), alignment of the words without the aid of any kind of guide. The last sentence is isolated at the bottom of the page to give an emphasis and draw attention to it.

Point: the bulb holder becomes the point and the reflector makes the point more apparent. Line: the blinds create a variation of thicknesses for the lines. The open blinds create a thin lines and the closed blinds create thicker lines. Plane: the intersection of the pieces that make up the ceiling creates a plane.

Scale A graphic element can appear larger or smaller depending on the size, placement and color of the elements around it. When elements are all the same size, the design feels flat. Contrast in size can create a sense of tension as well as a feeling of depth and movement. Small shapes tend to recede; large ones move forward. This exercise requires objects that represent the world in miniature, such as figurines, toys, game pieces, or ornaments to vary in color. Using the variations in color to affect the sense of scale in the arrangement of the objects, Photograph the objects in a way that changes the viewer's sense of their scale

TEXture
Texture is the tactile grain of surfaces and substances. In design, texture is both physical and virtual. Textures include the literal surface employed in the making of a printed piece or physical object as well as the optical appearance of that surface. Paper can be rough or smooth, fabric can be nubby or fine, and packaging material can be glossy or matte. The two images contrast themselves in every manner; color, order, smoothness, feel, repetition, alignment etc. They create an experience for the viewers as optical effect and representation allowing the viweres mind to amplify the unique formal properties of each one.

color problem The depth of a two dimensional medium is affected by the shade/gradient of the selected color. The dark shades are foreground colors; the lighter the color, the more recessed the color is to the background. Starting at the dark shade then gradually noticeably lightening the shade as it the color recedes into the background gives the medium depth

For this exercise it was required to use just one size of type and flush left alignment only, to construct a typographic hierarchy exclusively by means of spatial arrangement. To make the project more complex, add variables such as weight, size, and alignment. Exploring simple and complex approaches to this exercise that convey my own ideas of design and communication appropriate for your portfolio book.

Layers are simultaneous, overlapping components of an image or sequence. They are at work in countless media software programs, from Photoshop and Illustrator to audio, video, and animation tools, where multiple layers of image and sound(tracks) unfold in time. Maps use overlapping layers to associate and separate different levels of data, allowing each level to contribute to the whole while maintaining its own identity. Printing techniques use multiple layers of ink to build a single image. Although the layered archeology of the printed page or digital file tends to disappear in the final piece, experimental work often uncovers visual possibilities by exposing layers. using all of the content from the Table of Contents page of the book., I Manipulated the content of the Table of Contents to re-imagine the layout design to present the content in a more (or different) visually interesting way

by Creating a graphic language and a spatial organization for my data. i Allowed form, color, and configuration to grow out of the hierarchy and nature of the content for the porfolio book. i Studied and identified relationships i found among the various design exercises; software, font type, alignment, color and shapes. after establising these relationships, the corresponding factors to each of the exercises completed during the semester were identified using various colors.
