Artist’s Statement 2014 On the last day of 2013 (New Year’s Eve), I had the privilege of walking up Scarfell Pike in the Lake District with a few close friends and one of my sons. It was visually an awe-inspiring experience. Against the drama of Scarfell itself there was the visual contrast of mist, storm clouds and patches of golden winter light breaking through. I had to paint the scene! We all need help and someone to turn to at certain times in our lives. These verses speak of the permanence of God as well as His power to help. My hope is that as you view these works and the 100 or so in the actual exhibition you will be reminded of that and feel a sense of peace, particularly if you face your own mountain to climb.
