At the end of the nineties there were very few heads of black Aspromonte pork. This species had been in the previous centuries at the center of the family economy of the area of Aspromonte, in Calabria and seemed destined for extinction.

The turning point came in 1995: Monsignor Giancarlo Maria Bregantini, bishop of Locri Gerace, as part of a wide-ranging project of territorial, cultural and above all social importance, founded the Cooperativa Valle del Bonamico together with a group of young shepherds from Platì and San Luca. In addition to the cultivation of small fruits, the cooperative dedicated itself to the breeding of the Aspromonte pig, thus starting its definitive recovery. Its primordial morphology has remained unchanged to testify to the purity of the species: strong, rustic, powerful, with two appendages hanging under the throat and, in the male specimen, a mane, characteristics that make it distinguishable among all black Calabrian pigs and that are found in the scents and flavors of hams and meats of Antico Nero d’Aspromonte ®.

An ancient story, an important british families moved to the Kingdome of the Two Sicilies in the XVI century and then to Calabria.

The company is now run by Maria Eleonora, established in the production plant of CannavĂ di Rizziconi in Reggio Calabria provicne; its territory of about 300 hectares represent the last leftover of an ancient feud of 40.000 hectares. Today the company is increasing an innovative olive growing, with native plants of smaller dimensions, easily mechanized. Azienda Agricola Barone MacrĂŹ s.r.l. was founded in 1991 in Calabria. The estate, covering a total area of 4,587,022 square meters, has a utilised agricultural area of 2,550,000 square meters - dotted with olive groves, vineyards, citrus groves, greenhouses and arable land - and has several buildings in the municipalities of Locri, Portigliola, Gerace and Antonimina.

After almost 50 years, wine production resumed: TERRE DI GERACE I.G.T. Calabria. From the combination of the high quality of native Calabrian grapes and modern winemaking techniques, a product is born which is the best synthesis of the Calabrian territory.

The firm was established by the Longo family in the second half of 1700. It was a liquorice factory. Thanks to its high quality, the liquorice was exported in Northern Europe and it was so wellknown to be mentioned in the Britannic Encyclopedia. Around 1880 the factory expanded so much that the farm became a rural village, with schools and a church, where workers' families lived. During the 70s their niece, Virginia Bombini jr, together with her husband Fernando Gallo stepped in the managment of the farm and renewed it thoroughly. They reclaimed uncultivated lands and planted new orchards, olive groves and vineyards, thus giving the farm its current structure. Today La Peschiera is a farm run by their son Alessandro Gallo who, together with his sisters Daniela and Flaviana, take care of its production.

It has a light golden yellow colour and a very rich fruity fragrance. Its freshness and elegance makes it a very pleasant wine.

Intense and fruity. It is a sweetish, fresh and aromatic wine.

It has an intense fragrance of red fruits. Its structure is full and its taste is harmonious and soft.
