Time: Day Duration: Seasonal part-time Course Description: The course will identify and define the essential concepts, skills and techniques of interpersonal relationship and leadership and assist learners develop and integrate those skills into their professional environment. Effective Interpersonal relationship and leadership skills are important for reaching true potentials and building strong relationships with colleagues. Course Objective: The objective of this course is to help students develop interpersonal relationship and leadership skills through, readings, assignments, group activities, presentations and discussions. The group activities and discussions will form the experiential learning foundation for developing leadership and interpersonal skills. The course is based on experiential learning which requires a lot of observation, participation and involvement. As a result, attendance is essential to promote personal learning and the learning of the other students. 1. Define effective communication a. Listening b. Inter-generational c. Barriers d. Assessment The final grade will be a accumulation of grades based on class attendance, class participation and interaction and satisfactory completion of reflection papers and self-evaluation of learning and how learning will improve your leadership and interpersonal relationships, and other course assignments Reflection on paper Following each session write a reflection report based on your observation and learning. Discuss your learning: What has changed for you in your understanding of both yourself and others, how will your future behavior reflect these learning Self-Assessment - What did you learn about yourself? - What values, beliefs, and assumptions did you have about yourself? - What did you learn about others communication and leadership style? - Are all leadership styles ineffective? - Which are the most effective leadership qualities? - How has your communication skills improved? - How has your leadership skills improve?
