Booklaunch Brand-Driven Innovation by Erik Roscam Abbing Program Booklaunch October 27, 2010 14:00 - 17:30 Faculty of IDE, TU Delft Joost van der Grinten zaal

Dear Friends, I am triple proud today! I am proud to have such a great group of people together from so many different backgrounds. People from schools and universities, from product and service industries, non-profit organizations, agencies and consultancies. And although we have a full program for you, we do hope that you will find plenty of time to mingle and be inspired by each other. I am also proud to celebrate the convergence of three disciplines: the worlds of branding, innovation and design are merging at a rapid pace, resulting in new ideas, processes and businesses. You, the speakers and visitors of this book launch event, are the living proof of this convergence, and I look forward to celebrating with you! The third reason I’m proud is that my book, Brand Driven Innovation, is finished. It was quite a ride, I’m very happy with the result, and I’m glad it’s done. I missed some of you dearly during the writing, and it’s great to be back among the living ;-) Have a wonderful afternoon; I am very grateful that you are here. Cheers!! Erik Roscam Abbing Delft, October 27th 2010

He was educated as an industrial design engineer (MSc in Delft 1976), and received his PhD (also in Delft) in 1984. Before working at the Delft University he spent ten years as a management consultant.

Igor Kluin Igor Kluin (1973) worked in advertising before he embarked on his adventure as innovative entrepreneur in the renewable energy business, by founding Qurrent in 2006. Qurrent enables its customers to generate their own energy locally from renewable sources, using solar panels, micro wind turbines, heat pumps and hydrogen fuel cells. In 2007 Qurrent won a starting capital injection at the PICNIC Green Challenge, handed out by Virgin’s Richard Branson.

Guido Stompff In 1993 Guido Stompff completed a master degree from the faculty of Industrial Design, TU Delft. After working for two small design offices he became part of the design team of Océ Technologies, based in Venlo. Guido Stompff always had an inquisitive mind, questioning about and reflecting upon the design discipline and its contributions. It resulted in several publications in a variety of subjects, before settling upon the relation between brand and new product development.

Aldo de Jong Aldo de Jong holds a master in chemical engineering of the Delft University of Technology. After jobs at Procter and Gamble and General Electric, Aldo embarked on an MBA at Barcelona’s IESE Business School. From then on, Aldo’s career has centred on consulting in strategic innovation and design, first at Eggo innovation consultants and later at Smart Design (Barcelona office), consulting his clients on how to use design as a strategic tool to drive innovation in their business. Aldo recently left Smart Design to start his own company Claro Partners.

NLISIS introduced her to the world of brands and customer driven innovation. Full of enthusiasm and eager to learn, she adopted the brand driven innovation approach and is now busy putting it in practice on a day to day basis. Learning (fast) while doing is the motto at the moment.

Judith van Zanten Judith van Zanten (1984) graduated at Priva two years ago to finish her study Industrial Design at TU Delft. With plenty room for growth and an optimal working environment, she started as design manager at Priva. In this function the identity of Priva is translated into both internal and external touchpoints, such as products, processes, services and communication. As Priva puts people first, human driven innovation and human centered design are practiced on a day to day basis.
