Apryl Burrows
A
pryl Burrows, who is the proud creator of Apryl Jasmine, has been entrenched in fashion since she was eight years old. “As a young girl I was always very artsy and crafty, using scraps of leftover fabric from my mum’s sewing projects. My clients were my dolls and they were always fabulous,” she told Up and Away. But it was in her teenage years that Burrows got her first chance to blossom. “I didn’t know what a fashion designer was until age 14 when I landed a summer job with the late Jeffrey Taylor, a Bahamian artist and designer. Although I was a teenager, I was inspired by actresses like Diana Ross and singers like Sade, Phyllis Hyman and Whitney Houston,” the designer said.
