PreK-5
LIL’ EAGLES & PRE SCHOOL
We believe a child’s sense of self-worth is enhanced by learning that God has designed them as a fantastic one-of- a-kind! RCS preschoolers learn how to respect and enjoy each other’s differences and to play with a spirit of sharing under the guidance of our supportive and nurturing teachers. As born-again Christians, our teachers delight in sharing the love of Christ with children.
Daily RCS preschool activities include cutting and pasting, counting, numbers, reciting the alphabet, Bible reading, Scripture memory, music and movement, and playing to foster the joy of each new day!
ELEMENTARY
Our elementary provides excellence in education through academic rigor and spiritual growth. While teaching our core academics, we weave the Bible and Christian principles into each subject.
Our guided reading approach challenges students in our language arts program while teaching the foundations for excellent writing. Our math curriculum promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills while building excellent computational skills. In social studies and science, our students learn to see God at work through His creation and humanity through hands-on projects and activities as we learn to trust that God is in control of the past, present, and future.
MIDDLE SCHOOL 6-8
Excellence in academics at the middle school level prepares our students for the rigors of our collegepreparatory high school.
Our core academics include math in 6th grade, which lays the foundation for pre-algebra and algebra classes in the 7th and 8th grades. In science, students start with Earth Science studying the natural world around them, followed by Life Science and Integrated Physics and Chemistry in 8th grade. Novel-based units highlight our English curriculum covering themes, characterizations, literary elements, and plots. Students develop into meaningful writers through various lessons on grammatical concepts and writing modes such as literary analysis, poetry, short stories, persuasive essays, and compare/contrast essays. Our social studies curriculum studies world history, ancient civilizations, Texas history, and the middle ages. In addition, we cover the Old and New Testaments in survey classes.
6th
To avoid the anxiety associated with a student’s rise from Elementary School to Middle School, 6th grade at RCS is a transition year. 6th grade students participate in middle school activities, including sports, fine arts and academic endeavors, while following a schedule with fewer class changes. This allows teachers to come alongside students and facilitate the progression to an eight period schedule in 7th and 8th grade.
MiddleSchoolSports6th-8th
7th-8th
With excellence in mind, we have chosen to supplement our academic core subjects. We promote Jesus Christ and Christian values through our academic core classes, chapel, field trips, and advisory classes. 7th and 8th grade have an eight period modified block schedule. In addition to academic content, we look to produce well-rounded students by offering numerous electives:
