From the desk of Jack Diver‌ This has been a very productive year regarding the renewal of several components of our infrastructure. The new Clubhouse has opened under the name of Oak Terrace at Rose Hill and has been well received by everyone who has had an opportunity to visit. Andy Stephens has his golf operation in its new quarters and the new food and beverage operation (led by Kent and Lori Mariman) has begun with rave reviews. Currently they are open for lunch every day from 11am to 3pm. Make it a point to stop in for lunch and have a look at this beautiful and functional facility Special thanks to Fran Richards and GM Jane Pritz for their tireless efforts in managing this project through each and every step and for bringing it in under budget (an amazing accomplishment). I would also like to thank Tony LaMartina, Sean Casey, Jeff Spencer and Jane Pritz for managing

the process that resulted in the selection of Low Country Kitchen as our F&B Operator. After several levels of discussion and review The RH BOD has recently passed the 2019 budget and has held the annual assessment at the same level for 2019 (no increase). The committee structure in Rose Hill is a vibrant and integral part of what makes our community so successful. Thanks to all those members who give up so much of their time to make Rose Hill a great place to live. Thank you to Jane Pritz and her office and maintenance staff for their excellent performance this past year. On behalf of the BOD, I wish to extend Best Wishes to All for the Holiday Season and the New Year Jack Diver, Board President

Community CARING NEIGHBORS Jane Phipps

Caring Neighbors held two informational meetings in October with insurance representatives explaining Medicare options that were available during the period of Open Enrollment. Both of these events were well attended and beneficial to those who chose to take advantage of this offer. We are grateful to Dieesha Hicks, the SC Health Insurance Program Coordinator for the Lowcountry Council of Government’s Office on Aging and to Joel Lacopelli from United Health for being our guest speakers.

Hey Rose Hill families! Lets do a family game night. We'll be meeting up at Colleton Point on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 5:30 pm. We'll have a potluck dinner (bring a dish or two to share) and then spend the evening playing games. Bring your favorite board games to share. Paper products and waters will be provided. BYOB. To RSVP or for questions, email meinerka@yahoo.com or call Kate at 404-849-3987.

Each year we hold a Holiday gathering for our volunteers and Neighbors (the people we are assisting). Colleton Point is decorated, the music is playing, and refreshments are served. This is a nice opportunity for everyone associated with Caring Neighbors to meet and spend time together during this joyous time of year. Mark your calendar for Friday, February 8, 2019 for our annual Valentine’s Fundraiser which will be held at our beautiful new clubhouse. More details to follow. Once again, we are in need of more volunteers. Please consider being a part of our important team so that we can better meet the needs of our community. More information is available by going to our website at caring-neighbors.org or by calling 843-368-2096.

Forward Tees Jane Phipps

The Rosebuds (9-hole golfers) and the LGA (18-holers) have recently been enjoying the cooler playing temperatures after a hot summer and uncertain hurricane season. Both of these ladies’ groups have increased their memberships, participated in golf exchanges with other local golf groups, and competed in friendly competitions. Most recently, the annual Halloween Scramble was held with the participants wearing highly creative costumes and enjoying a great meal after golf with their spouses and significant others. In December, the Rosebuds, LGA, and MGA (Men’s Golf Association) got into the holiday spirit while playing in the Candy Cane Tournament. The players enjoyed a delicious luncheon after the event in Rose Hill’s beautiful new restaurant/clubhouse. If you are interested in becoming a member of any of these groups, contact the Pro Shop at 843-757-9030 for more information. Page 4

Security Holiday Security Tips Chief Aaron Back 1). Play it safe on social While it’s common for people to check-in at the airport and post pictures on vacations, it can put them at risk. Even with the highest level of security on social accounts, you still can’t be sure of exactly who on the web will see that you're not home. Wait to post pictures until returning home and avoid announcing social activities that highlight you being out of town. 2). Ask a trusted neighbor to collect mail A full mailbox and packages piling up on the front porch are obvious signs that no one's home. We encourage our residents to ask close neighbors to grab their mail while they’re gone, and pickup any packages left on the front porch. 3). Safety-first lighting Plugging in outdoor Christmas lights can be a tricky task. Never run external lights through windows. A slightly cracked window makes it easy for burglars to pry open. Also, do not overload electrical outlets. If you are planning to leave town, utilize timers for lights, making it appear that you are home when you are not.

6.) Fraud It is not uncommon for criminals to take advantage of the generosity of people during the holiday season by soliciting donations over the phone for charitable causes although no charity is involved. Ask for identification, and find out how the donated funds will be used. If you are not satisfied, do not donate. Donate to a recognized charitable organization. Never give out your personal information like social security number or bank account number over the phone.

Season’s Greetings From the Rose Hill Staff. We would like to wish you Happy Holidays and a Very, Merry Christmas. Jane, Crystal, Lisa, Joni, Aaron, Ed, Tony, Beau, Daniel & David

4). Guest procedures During this season, there is an increase in guests visiting the community. Be sure to call in your guests and visitors. If you have several guests please send security an email. Remember the rules about parking and remind your guests they must be with you while out exploring the neighborhood. Be vigilant. Even though there will be an increase in unknown guests, you are still encouraged to report suspicious behavior or characters. 5). Lock it Up Whether you are out shopping or parked in your driveway, always remember to lock your car doors. Be sure to lock all the doors to your home. Keep wrapped gifts out of view from the outside.

Tennis & Golf in Rose Hill Tennisclub of the Lowcountry 2018 has flown by and the Tennisclub of the Low Country (TLC) has grown in Membership and activity. We are very thankful for this activity and look forward to more growth next year. Through December we are running a Membership Special where the initiation fee is waived if dues are paid in full for the year. You will also only pay for 11 months and get the 12th month free. If you have been thinking about joining us, now is a good time. TLC has had a very busy league season and several teams won State Championships. Our Men’s 9.0 team went all the way and won Nationals! It has been a fun season with great tennis and already teams are busy forming for the 2019 Spring League season. Our daily programs continue to thrive and we have programs for all skill levels. Live tennis is always well attended as it is such a great workout for all levels of players. We have evening programs and men’s social play for those of you who work, so look at the schedule on our website. Our junior program runs on a monthly cycle and juniors can join in at any time. We have programs for beginner to advanced, starting at 5 years old. Private lessons with one of our seasoned certified tennis professionals may be scheduled at your convenience. Information is available on our website www.tlcrosehill.com or by contacting the Club at 843-271-6401 to sign-up. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season, and if you are traveling, please be safe. Hope to see you at the club in 2019. See you on the courts!

Time surely does fly when you’re having fun and 2018 is no exception! We’ve come a long way since this time last year and we are very excited about 2019! Course conditions are improving everyday and before you know the growing season will be here again, so we can take playing conditions to the next level. With a little help from Mother Nature (and some good turf chemistry) the course should be ready to host events and provide all players with a good test of their abilities. The biggest news going into the new year is the NEW CLUBHOUSE! Obviously, we are very excited to be in our new home and looking forward to creating new memories in such a wonderful space. The options are endless in terms of hosting tournament events, parties and everyday outings. We plan on hosting more than a few member and resident events as the facility begins to run on all cylinders. We certainly hope that will be very soon and we will certainly give plenty of notice in and around the Clubhouse and on our FaceBook page if you’re into the social network scene. This March will mark our 1 ½ anniversary at Rose Hill and we are very Thankful for all the support and patience. Bringing the course back has not been an easy process, but we believe the result will be well worth the wait! Please make sure to come see the New Clubhouse, eat at the New Restaurant and check out the New Pro Shop as soon as you can! Thanks again and we look forward to seeing everyone enjoying Rose Hill Golf Club in 2019! Rose Hill Golf Club Staff

In the Spotlight MEET CHEF REGINALD WILLIAMS Chef Reginald's culinary career started in 1986 as a banquet manager at the Plantation Club on Skidaway Island, GA. After observing his work in his role as banquet manager, the Executive Chef asked if he would be interested in joining his culinary team, to which he replied with an eager yes. This is where his love for the culinary arts began. Under the tutelage of Executive Chef Harold Kimball and Sam Gardner he learned all techniques, methods, and sauces needed to take his culinary skills to the next level. After ascending to the level of head banquet chef and then Executive Sous Chef he then took his skills to the Savannah Desoto Hilton where he was assigned the position of evening Executive Sous Chef in 1994. This is were he developed his cooking style that included using the locally sourced seafood and vegetables that are used in Southern cuisines with influences of Caribbean, West Indian, and African spices and herbs which to this day has a strong influence and history in the South. In 2001, he moved to Hilton Head Island where he joined the SERG Group and opened Marley's Island Grill. It is here that he had the pleasure of working with some of the Island’s best chefs such as Nick Unagnst, Clayton Rolliston of (Lucky Rooster), and Anthony Jackson. After working with the Group until 2008, he joined the team of Alexander's Restaurant and Wine Bar of Palmetto Dunes as Executive Sous Chef where he continued to perfect his skills working with famed Chef Franz Auer, and Chaun Bescos. Then taking over as Executive Chef in 2009. Upon returning to the SERG Group in 2012, he was an instrumental part of opening 8 of their 12 current restaurants around Hilton Head and Bluffton. On November 1st of 2018, we had the honor and pleasure of hiring Chef Reginald to lead the culinary team of Oak Terrace at Rose Hill Plantation. We are excited to introduce Chef de Cuisine Reginald Williams. Education: Solomon Charles Johnson High School , Savannah State University Home: Savannah, Georgia

Thank you for Lighting Up Our Holiday Season A BIG holiday Thank You to Dave & Debbie Kostka, Keith & Lu Klaiber, Colleen Jacques, Nancy Kirkland and Linda Kulach (not pictured).
