Congratulations to Jeff Spencer, our new addition to the BOD, and returning member Mike Small. Thank you to departing board member, Joe Fulliero, for his four years of service to our community and to all those who put their names forward and ran for the BOD. Welcome to Joni Moritz, our new administrative assistant. I wish to take this opportunity to express a debt of gratitude to all of those who volunteer their time to serve on our various committees. Their efforts are an extremely valuable asset to Rose Hill, as they continue to provide support and expertise to the BOD decision making process. Members of our office staff, led by our GM - Jane Pritz, also give a very important assist to the smooth operation of our volunteer committees. The Rose Hill clubhouse construction project is progressing nicely and is currently ahead of schedule and well within budget. The Restaurant process continues to progress as focus groups have been formed and are currently underway. The Colleton Tennis facility resurfacing should have begun (weather permitting) by the time you receive this note. Under the leadership of Andy Stephens, the golf operation continues to improve steadily. The improvements to our infrastructure over these last 5 years (roads, drainage, buildings and grounds, equestrian facility riding arenas) have revitalized and enhanced our plantation. Rose Hill is, and will continue to be, a great place to live. A reminder: Summer is upon us. Members of all ages are out and about walking and biking on our roadways. Please drive carefully - observe the speed limits and the traffic signs (stop means stop) and show deference to one another. It is my pleasure to serve. Jack Diver, Board President
Golf Course Property As a reminder, the golf course property is for golfers ONLY, this includes practice holes. If you would like to walk your dog, ride your bicycle or fish we ask that you enjoy these activities on non-golf course common areas, such as Bill Baker Park, Colleton Point or you may fish at any of the lagoons that do not have a fountain and are NOT on the Golf Course. The reason we stress the golf course property is for golfers only is because it’s a liability issue for the golf course operator if someone is injured. Also, not everyone will stay on the cart paths and will, unfortunately, ride across the fairways and greens causing extensive damage to the course. Ultimately, it will cost the operator more money or the POA will have to foot the bills for the repairs. This goes for the Equestrian Center as well. Please keep dogs and bikes off Equestrian property. We do encourage residents to enjoy other common areas for walking their pets, bike riding and fishing. Thank you for your cooperation!

It’s hard to believe school is out and June is here. Time is just flying by and in the past week it appears summer is upon us with the temperatures in the low 90’s. As I am writing this article I am hoping the resurfacing of the Colleton Point tennis courts will begin the week of June 11 as promised and of course at this time of year it is always with the understanding “weather permitting.” As work begins we will keep everyone up to date on the progress in our weekly blast emails. The contractors are making a lot of progress on the clubhouse and very soon they will begin painting the interior. The decks look fantastic and I hope everyone is looking forward to enjoying the view while having a drink or enjoying a meal in the fall after the clubhouse reopens. The clubhouse needs the support of the membership to be successful and we are hoping everyone will visit it after it opens. We are currently meeting with the focus groups and getting a lot of good feedback from residents regarding the food and beverage operation. It is very encouraging to see the enthusiasm everyone has for the new facility. Since school is out there are lots of children and adults walking and riding bikes to the pools, tennis, golf etc. Please slow down and obey the speed limit and stop signs and let’s work together to keep everyone safe. I hope you have a fantastic summer!

Rose Hill Golf Club Updates It’s hard to believe we’re celebrating our 9th month onsite at Rose Hill! As we head into our first full year we certainly hope you’ve noticed the significant changes in the golf course conditions and overall shape we have been working towards. To say it hasn’t always been easy is a true understatement! Our first month we had a hurricane complete with mandatory evacuation. We had one of the coldest winters on record with actual snow days (that did yield for some beautiful pictures)! Throughout these huge events and tough conditions our crew has continued to work hard to bring Rose Hill back to a place of prominence among Low Country golf courses. While we aren’t there yet we will work hard to get there as soon as we can! Many times it’s hard to see the results of work being done during the winter or off-season, but as we get further and further into the growing season that hard work is much easier to see. From the beginning we have said that our process always works, it just takes time. That time and effort are set to meet very quickly. As the golf course gets better every day you can’t help but notice that the construction of the new clubhouse is coming together at a fantastic pace! By the fall the two should come together and create a fantastic experience for everyone! With that said the new clubhouse will allow for events, tournaments and much more flexibility in our day to day operations. The entire Rose Hill Golf Staff would like to THANK YOU for your continued patience as we go forward and are truly excited to call Rose Hill home! The Stephens Group

Security Reminders There are many activities going on at Rose Hill this summer and we want everyone to be careful and safe on the property. Here are some tips for your safety: 1. Our pools, lagoons, tennis courts and dock are for the residents and guests of Rose Hill. Anyone arriving visiting one of these areas without a resident in their presence will be asked to leave Rose Hill. Make sure your guest has a guest pass on the dashboard of the car parked at these facilities. Please do not call in passes for a guests and let your privileges be revoked because of a violation. 2. When you go on vacation let security know and we will watch your home. The Leave of Absence form is on the Rose Hill website and can be dropped off at either security post, the POA Office or emailed to Chief of Security, Aaron Back, at aaron.back@securitasinc.com. 3. It’s Hurricane season do you have a plan in place? Please pay attention to warnings and leave when told to evacuate. The Beaufort County re-entry number is 800-963-5023 or BCgov.net. This information will be updated hourly as needed. Security will stay as long as Emergency Management allows us to stay. If you have questions during an evacuation, please contact Chief Aaron Back or visit our website at www.rosehillplantation.net for up-to-date information. Click here to view the 2018 South Carolina Hurricane Guide 4. Please remember that Securitas Security is a security company and will help you with whatever we can handle, we are not the police and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office should be called when there is a law enforcement matter. Charmette Gant You may have seen Charmette smiling and waving you through at the North Gate. Charmette is a Securitas employee and has worked for Rose Hill Plantation for the past 2 years. She is married with three children. During her spare time she enjoys gardening and spending time with her family. When asked what she enjoys most about her job as a Security Officer at Rose Hill she replied, the job is different every day. You never know what will happen next. Charmette is best described as a happy, vibrant, and thoughtful person and we are very fortunate to have her on the Rose Hill Team!

Caring Neighbors By Jane Phipps Caring Neighbors continues to be very busy fulfilling our mission of helping others. We continue to provide transportation for those who are unable to drive to appointments or to go shopping, we make visits to those who are home-bound and do whatever we can to assist those in need. In addition, we have sponsored informational gatherings to our Rose Hill population and arranged for Blood Drives on the plantation. Most recently, we treated our volunteers to an afternoon of bowling and pizza at Station 300 to show them how much we appreciate their time and effort. If you would like information about our organization or wish to volunteer (we could really use additional help here), please call Sheryl Inglefield at 843-368-2096.
Forward Tees By Jane Phipps The Ladies Golf Association recently held its annual meeting and luncheon at Caddy’s. New officers for 2018 were announced with Cathy Michael serving as President, Adrienne LaMantia as Vice President, Jackie Currie as Secretary, and Carol Fruit as Treasurer. It was decided that our Constitution and By-laws would be revised, and committee reports were presented. This group continues to play on Wednesdays and Saturdays and welcomes any new women interested in joining us. Our 9-hole players, the Rosebuds, play every Monday and Friday. Judi Rodgers is the leader of this group and has worked with our Rose Hill Director of Instruction, DaWayne Penberthy, to set up a calendar of Clinics for both men and women. The “Buds” have been participating in Exchanges with some of the local area golf courses where they meet new friends, enjoy playing 9 holes, and partake of a nice meal and great camaraderie. For more information regarding the LGA or the Rosebuds, contact the Pro Shop at 843-757-9030.
The ARB Process Summer is a popular time for making changes or additions to your property. You may be wondering What do I need to do? It’s simple, if you are making a change to the exterior of your property or to 25% or more of your landscape, then you need to submit an application or change request to the ARB. Once you submit your Page 5 June

Change Request or ARB Application it will be added to the ARB Agenda for the next ARB meeting. Remember, the ARB meets the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month and all applications need to be submitted at least a week before the meeting. The application fee and Inspection fee are due at the time you submit your application. The deposits are due (if approved) prior to receiving your permit. Fees and Deposits vary depending on the project. Please refer to the Fee & Deposit Schedule on the website for these prices. So now you’re thinking That’s not so complicated but how do I know if I need an Application to Construct or a Tree Removal Form? The chart below will help. If you’re still not sure, please don’t hesitate to contact the POA Office 843757-2450 and we will be happy to assist you.

Summer is here!! Where has the year gone? School is out, and kids need to be kept busy – we hope to see some of them participating in our summer tennis programs. Our regular junior programs will run during the month of June, and that information is on our website www.tlcrosehill.com. We accommodate children between the ages of 5 and 16 and participants of all levels. This year we will have summer camps in the month of July between 8:30 and 12:30 pm, depending on ability. Please go to our website www.tlcrosehill.com and look under our junior programs to get the groups, rates and registration forms. Friends and visiting family are welcome to participate, but please get your reservations in early. The month of June has some new adult clinics and programs that we hope you come and try. We are also running a Membership Special for the month of June – no initiation fee if you pay for the year up front; and, half the initiation fee if you pay for 6 months. Members get many forms of discounts, and we would love to answer any of your questions.
Our spring league was extremely busy and successful. We had several teams make it to the State playoffs on Hilton Head, and a couple of teams are now going to Sectionals in September. Congratulations to all. Our juniors have also had a busy spring with tournaments and we are excited for them as their game continues to improve, and in several cases really excel. Whether they are just starting to play, or are going to higher level tournaments, it is always gratifying to see them enjoy playing and improving. Watch the website and the weekly emails for more information. Weekly adult clinics, social play and special events for all levels are available for TLC members and non-members to join in the fun. Private lessons with one of our seasoned certified tennis professionals may be scheduled at your convenience. Information is available on our website www.tlcrosehill.com or by contacting the Club at 843-271-6401 to sign-up. Jill Cox
Joni moved to South Carolina with her husband, Ben, early in 2006 from North Dakota. Having lived in Charleston for a short period of time she was eager to come back to the south to enjoy the warm weather and the benefits of living near the coast. She had a quarter-horse while she was growing up and later owned two horses for several years that were gifted to Yellowstone National Park as trail horses. Her love for animals extends to two large dogs, two cats, and two grand doggies. She has had many animals in her life and enjoyed all the gifts and companionship they have provided. Joni’s involvement with handicapped children and non-profit organizations included a partnership in which she volunteered time with the Children’s autistic unit supporting various activities and events. She has been a member of St. John’s Lutheran church in Beaufort and served as a council member co-chairing the fellowship committee. Lastly, she loves to sing. She has performed as a soloist for many shows and productions including singing for two governors of North Dakota and elsewhere for special events including weddings and funerals and performed during the Beaufort County tree lighting ceremony. Her friends say she was born singing. Joni is excited about her opportunity to share her talents and skills with Rose Hill Plantation Property Owners’ Association.

THE PICKLEBALL CRAZE By Colette Goddard
You might have heard the sport pickleball mentioned around the neighborhood and wondered what it was. Pickleball has been around since 1965, but is now exploding in popularity. Pickleball is the fastest growing racquet sport in the country. Rose Hill is fortunate to have many amenities available and we're thrilled that pickleball is one of them. It is a FUN, engaging sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. It's a game for all ages. Four players use pickleball paddles to return the ball back and forth over the net. The rules are fairly simple and easy to learn. The game can be developed into a fast-paced competitive challenge. Although it is a sport, you don't have to be an athlete to play. It's a simple game that beginners can easily pick up. Enjoying the outdoors, getting exercise while having fun and meeting new neighbors; what could be better? If you would like to give it a shot, don't hesitate to come and check it out. Currently, there are two groups. Group Play for entry level players is on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00-11:00 am. Wear tennis shoes, sunglasses, a hat or visor, and bring a water bottle. It is helpful to wear clothing with pockets to stash spare balls. We encourage newbies to come and watch, then be ready to jump right in. Don't purchase a paddle until you give the game a try and are sure you like it (plus there are Rose Hill paddle restrictions that we will review when we meet). We have a few extra paddles to share with newcomers. Contact person: Colette 614-397-3686. Group Play for seasoned players is on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 9:30-11:30 am. Contact person: Bruce 864-423-5559. *************************** The times indicated above are meant to set convenient times when interested players can come together and play. Since those hours are also set aside for Organizational Club Play, if an organized group has reserved the courts for play, the group must cede the courts and reschedule. To review the Rose Hill policy on Pickleball play, please visit www.rosehillplantation.net
