In the Event of a Major Storm Sheriff’s Office NIXLE is Your Source for Accurate Information Last week, I released information regarding hurricane season and where to look for important storm information. I would like to clarify that the BEST place to seek important up-to-date information during a major storm is the Sheriff’s Office NIXLE. The link below is to a NIXLE advisory detailing where to get your official and up-to-date information from the Sheriff’s Office. In the event of a hurricane or other public safety issue, Sheriff’s Office NIXLE is the first public information dissemination point in Beaufort County. The information disseminated through NIXLE is copied to Facebook, Twitter, NEXTDOOR and our website to maximize public reach. To ensure consistency in the message and instructions to the public, the municipalities of Bluffton, Beaufort and Port Royal receive their hurricane information through Sheriff’s Office NIXLE, as do our local media outlets: print, radio and television. And although very useful, information released by the South Carolina Emergency Management Division is more general to the State and less specific to Beaufort County. Sign up information/links for all of the Sheriff’s Office advisory and social media platforms are contained in the link to the May 2019 NIXLE below. Should you have questions, please feel free to contact me. https://local.nixle.com/alert/7320578/?sub_id=1845290

Rose Hill Amenities, Clubs & Activities We often receive some excellent suggestions from our residents on material for the Plantation Voice Weekly & Quarterly. One of those great ideas was to showcase Rose Hill amenities, clubs or organizations each week in the PV Weekly. We would like to start off by spotlighting Pickleball.

Neighborhood Activity Spotlight: PICKLEBALL has been described as “oversized ping pong played on a badminton-sized court with a tennis sized net.” It’s the fastest growing sport in the United States, not only with the retired set, but it’s also taking off with the 13—16-year-old crowd! It’s easy to learn the sport at all ages and abilities. Our highlighted Rose Hill player is Dave Kostka. Dave responded to a Nextdoor announcement about Pickleball almost 3 years ago. Armed with his racquetball racquet he figured he could easily take on Pickleball. Once on the court, he was hooked, bought a real Pickleball paddle and has become a weekly regular. Dave has risen from rank novice to winner of the Senior Men’s and Mixed 3.0 divisions at Sun City’s 2019 Lowcountry Classic Tournament. Perhaps you, too, are a champion waiting to be discovered. Come out and join the Pickleball fun. Rose Hill has open play six mornings a week beginning at 9:00. The Pickleball group is very social; it’s a great place to get to know your neighbors while getting a good workout. For more information about Rose Hill Pickleball play, contact Bruce Clemens at 864-423-5559 The Today Show showcases Pickleball click here to see Rose Hill is now a recognized competitive Pickleball Community within the competitors in SE USA, winning 4 medals in their first ever event representing Rose Hill. There were 300 competitors from 21 Different States! Residents representing Rose Hill were: Dave Kostka Ken Allen Bruce Clemens Dayna Westmark Aaron Goddard Rose Hill won GOLD and SILVER medals in Men’s doubles divisions, GOLD in Women’s doubles and SILVER in Men/Womens Mixed division. Way to go Rose Hill!
