Dear Movie Lovers, There are 5 weeks in this month, so we'll just do the 4th Tuesday of the month instead. Downton Abbey" is still at Cinemark Bluffton and much easier to get tickets at this point. If you haven't seen it yet and really liked the PBS sitcom, it is well worth taking the time to go and see. It has all of the old, familiar characters with several plots going on concurrently. Add in Imelda Staunton as a cousin who throws a monkey wrench into the mix! Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Cinemark Bluffton on Buckwalter Parkway. The times are 1:00 and 4:00 pm. Also playing is "Judy". This is a review of Judy Garland's final days with flashbacks to her MGM days as a child star. Renee Zellweger does a heck of a job playing Judy. Rufus Sewell plays Sid Luft, father of 2 of her children. I'll have to say that this was a bit depressing. She found herself having to leave her children, who meant the world to her, and go on the stage in London to make enough money to be able to be with her children.Times are 1:35 and 4:30 pm, Cinemark Bluffton. So find a friend who has the same interests and enjoy!
After a successful inaugural Rose Hill Author Series in September that featured a conversation between low country authors, John Warley and Rebecca Dwight Bruff, The Rose Hill Readers are excited about the upcoming event to be held on November 19th at noon at Oak Terrace. The second in the Rose Hill Author Series features Bernie Schein, whose just released book, Pat Conroy: My Lifelong Friendship, has generated a lot of press already. His book is an honest account of the lifelong unlikely friendship between himself, a Jewish shopkeeeper’s son and Pat Conroy, a Marine fighter pilot’s son. Their relationship dated from high school to Pat’s death. The story includes a 15-year separation during which the two best friends never spoke. The Rose Hill Author Series is a partnership between The Rose Hill Readers, the Pat Conroy Literary Center and Oak Terrace.
