OUR STORY Cinas was founded under the name Carl J. Nielsen in 1903. Since the 1980s, the company has developed into the design, import and distribution company that we see today. All of our products are made with carefully selected manufacturers in the Far East, where the cooperation has functioned for generations. High-quality requirements are incorporated into this network, ensuring that our products always live up to our quality and finishing standards. OUR MATERIALS TEAKWOOD
We use Java teakwood to manufacture our furniture. Among the other hardwoods commonly used for outdoor furniture, many are referred to as ‘teak substitutes’. But there is no substitute for teak, and in outdoor conditions, no other hardwood in the world performs to the same high quality standards as teak. Simply put, teak is the best hardwood in the world for untreated wooden outdoor furniture.

With its balanced natural oil content, mahogany has proved itself over time as the best material for painted outdoor furniture. Prior to assembly, we apply several layers of paint to each component to ensure optimal protection and outdoor resistance. This strong smooth painted surface highlights the flowing modern lines of each piece of Cinas furniture.

For consumers and producers alike, it can be difficult to know whether a piece of timber comes from a sustainable forest. To help ensure that we are sourcing timber responsibly, Cinas supports certification systems that document its path from the forest, all the way to the consumer. As a minimum Cinas requirement, all teak and mahogany used in our products comes with a V-legal document from the Indonesian government agency Perum Perhutani.

Our powder-coated aluminum furniture is rustproof, easy to clean, and requires only minimum maintenance. All Cinas aluminum frames are offered in our classical ‘glossy powder coating’, with several items now also available in a contemporary new ‘matt anthracite powder coating’. Combine various types of tables, seating types and cushions to create a selection for your every mood and preference.
This year, Cinas is introducing a brand new innovative system that enables us to produce chairs without tools, screws, or glue.
Our garden umbrellas are water-repellent and treated for UV+50 resistance. Poles are available in white-washed hardwood, with several size options to suit a variety of applications. The hub and runner are made of strong polyresin, and fittings have a satin finish. The umbrella fabric is reinforced with double stitching, and leather patches enhance the strength of the corner pockets. Choose covers to suit your market: Standard Polyester (235gr/m2) or Olefin (210gr/m2). Umbrella bases in concrete (including wheels and castors) are available with the patented tube.
Our flexible U-shaped polypropylene lamellas feature our own unique T-shaped grip system for easy insertion in a rail inside an aluminum frame.

Designer Designed by nordvink®, our DryUnder line has emerged from a collaboration between Sanne Kyed and Anne Nørbjerg, who both studied architecture and design in Aarhus, Denmark. nordvink® focus on aesthetic and functional products designed for everyday life. Inspired by urbanization, they work at the intersection between architecture and design. The products have a nordic touch, with a playful combination of materials and colours that create contrasts in the simple and individualistic designs. DryUnder is a minimalistic, functional design made to suit urban balconies and terraces. Its innovative, beautiful features include a clever drying rack built in for those limited city spaces, adding value in use and function.

OUR MATERIALS MAO ZHU, BAMBOO (CHINA) The product’s lifetime is crucial for the environmental load. It is one thing that both we and our customers and consumers should think about if the aim is to operate in the most sustainable way possible. The difference of whether a product lasts for 15 or for 2 years is colossal – both for the pleasures of furniture, the economy and by no means least, for the environment. Products that last for a long time result in a significantly less environmental impact than those that only last for a few years and must be replaced regularly. The joy and satisfaction of a product that also stays spectacular and functional year after year – just gives sustainability a different meaning.
Bamboo grows extremely fast and is ready to harvest in 4-6 years. Bamboo regenerates itself from its existing root system and is one of the fastest growing plants on earth. Giving 25 times more wood per hectare per year than traditional hardwood forests, it is an extremely sustainable material, and our natural choice for furniture. Fresh bamboo has a yellowish natural color, however, the bamboo we use for our furniture has gone through a steaming process (carbonizing) to gain the warm glow similar to untreated oak or teakwood. Vertically carbonized bamboo We have developed vertically carbonised bamboo production for use in our furniture. The vertical bamboo strips are glued and pressed together giving a slim and straightline pattern with subdued bamboo shoot visible at the surface.

RECYCLED POLYESTER FELT
There are good reasons for selecting products made from wood. As well as being a beautiful, vibrant and natural material that feels good to touch, wood is a renewable resource. Unlike many other materials based on oil, coal or metals, wood is sustainable, recyclable, and decomposes naturally. From the perspective of climate control, our willingness and determination to manage forest resources is crucial, and consumers and producers need to know whether a piece of timber has sustainable origins.
We began making felt baskets from recycled polyester from plastic bottles in 2010 – to transform trash into stylish products. PET plastic bottles are made from oil, which is a limited resource. By taking plastic bottles, chopping them into granules, from which is spun polyester thread to create a woven or knitted fabric. The end product becomes soft yet strong ready to be used one more time! Recycling at its best!
Certification systems backed by the EU and responsible timber producing countries document the path from forest to consumer, and Cinas has a firm policy in this regard. All of our timber and finished wood products are procured from producers covered by the two.
