Introduction O
ne of the best ways to teach children biblical truths and Christian attitudes is through Bible stories. In fact, there are hundreds of interesting and exciting stories that fill the Bible! These stories make spiritual truths come alive. When you teach Bible stories to children, they learn how to live the Christian life through the examples of real people with victories and struggles. This book provides over 80 Bible-learning activities designed to teach Favorite Bible Stories and biblical principles from both the Old and New Testaments. As your 2- and 3-year-olds do these activities, they will begin to learn not only the Bible stories themselves, but also how much their God loves and cares for them. There are two Bible-learning activities (on facing pages) for each Bible story. You may choose to use either or both of the activities in teaching the Bible story. And because this book is reproducible, you may make as many copies of each activity sheet as you have students. You’ll find a great variety of activities, suitable for a variety of teaching situations, that are designed for the abilities of little 2s and 3s – coloring, pasting, playing with puppets, acting out Bible stories and other exciting activities just right for this age. Each activity sheet features a short introductory paragraph that refers to the Bible story and gives instructions for the activity. These paragraphs are designed to be read aloud to the children. The top of each page also lists the Bible story and Scripture reference. A special “For the Teacher” section at the bottom of each page gives valuable teaching tips, hints for using an activity, or further instructions just for you. (Cover this section prior to making copies so the teaching ideas do not appear on the children’s papers.) Most activities require only ordinary school supplies or household items. Care should always be taken to ensure the safety of the children, so keep staples, scissors, paper fasteners and all other potentially harmful items out of their hands. Children will look forward to your class with the opportunity to work on these fun activities. And the wide variety of different learning projects will help your children learn and remember Bible stories – many of which are sure to become their favorites!

God’s Creation Gen
esis 1
Heavens and Earth Picture God made our world. He made the water. He made the land and the mountains. He made the sun and the moon and the stars. God made everything. Color the water blue. Color the land green. Color the moon yellow. Glue the orange sun your teacher gave you in the dashed lines. Stick stars in the sky. Your teacher will help you say “thank You” to God for all the things He made.
For the Teacher: Cut an orange sun out of construction paper for each child, using the outline as
a pattern. Provide star stickers to paste in the sky. Give each child a blue crayon to color the water. Repeat with green for the land and yellow for the moon. Conclude with a short prayer the children can repeat after you, thanking God for His creation. 11

Animals God Made God made everything. God made our world and He made the sun and the moon and the stars. God made all the plants and animals and fish and insects and all the living things. God made all the people, too. God made you! Can you name all the animals in the picture? Which of these animals would you like for a pet? Your teacher will help you glue things on these animals. Then you can touch the animals and remember that God made them.
For the Teacher: Provide scraps of fabric and/or fake fur, and cotton balls. Going from student to student, cover each animal with glue and allow each child to stick the material of his or her choosing on the animal. 12
Adam and Eve Gene s i s 1 : 2 6 - 2 : 2 5
A Garden Home Adam and Eve were the first man and woman God made. God also made them a beautiful garden where they could live. Look at the picture. Can you name some of the things God made that were in the garden? Color the picture. Then cut out the pictures of Adam and Eve on the dashed lines. Glue the pictures in place so Adam and Eve are standing in their garden home.
For the Teacher: Older children may be able to cut out Adam and Eve. You will need to precut the pictures for the younger children.
13
Adam and Eve G ene s i s 1 : 2 6 – 2 : 2 5
Trees God Made In the beautiful garden God made for Adam and Eve, He put trees with delicious fruit growing on them. Color the picture. Then glue the fruit-flavored cereal circles your teacher gives you on the trees as fruit.
For the Teacher: Provide colorful, fruit-flavored cereal circles to glue on the trees (bring extra for snacking). As the children color and glue, talk about other wonderful foods God made. Help the children to thank God for good food. 14
Noah and the Big Boat G ene s i s 6 : 8 – 8 : 2 2
Noah’s Ark God knew it was going to rain for a long time, so He told Noah to build a big boat and fill it with animals and Noah’s family. God wanted to be sure the animals and people were safe. Glue ice cream sticks or construction paper strips on the big boat Noah used to save the animals.
For the Teacher: For young children, it is best if a teacher or helper puts the glue on the paper and the children press the craft sticks or construction paper strips onto the glue. 15
Noah and the Big Boat G ene s i s 6 : 8 – 8 : 2 2
A Hungry Bird God told Noah to take two of every kind of animal into the big boat so they would be safe from the flood. While the animals were in the big boat, Noah took very good care of them. He fed them. He made sure they had water and good places to sleep. Noah took birds into the big boat, too. Color the picture. Glue a craft feather onto the bird. Your teacher will help you spread some glue below the bird’s beak so you can “feed” the bird by sprinkling birdseed on the glue. Noah took good care of the animals. We should always take good care of our pets, too.
For the Teacher: Talk about the different foods the animals ate and how Noah cared for the various animals. Discuss how the children can help care for their pets. 16
Isaac’s Wells Gene s i s 2 6 : 1 2 - 3 3
A Well of Water The Philistine shepherds said Isaac’s new well belonged to them, not him. So Isaac dug a new well. The Philistines said they wanted that well, too. Isaac was not happy, but he did not want to fight with his neighbors. He went to another place and built a new home. He dug a well at his new home. God visited with Isaac. He was happy with Isaac’s attitude. “I will bless you,” God told him. Color the water blue. Your teacher will help you put the water in your well. Glue the stone picture around the well. Add fluffy cotton to the lambs.
Genesis 26:12-33
For the Teacher: Precut the water circle, making sure to cut along the dashed lines, and the stone picture for each child. Help each child glue a water rim to the inside top of a foam cup. Provide stretched out cotton balls for the children to glue to their lambs. 17
Isaac’s Wells Gene s i s 2 6 : 1 2 - 2 2
Lamb Wristlet Isaac was a shepherd. He was a wealthy man with many animals and servants. Some mean Philistines lived near Isaac. When they saw how rich he was, they became jealous. They wanted to hurt Isaac, so they put dirt in Isaac’s wells. Without water from the wells, Isaac’s sheep couldn’t drink. Isaac’s servants wanted to fight the Philistines. But Isaac said, “We will show mercy to them.” So Isaac and his servants dug the dirt out of the wells and they dug a new well. Isaac showed mercy to the men who hated him. You can make a Lamb Wristlet to remind you to show mercy to those who are jealous of you. Glue the ears and wiggle eyes on the lamb. Spread glue over the lamb and sprinkle soap flakes on the glue. Your teacher will tape it to your wrist.
Finished Craft
Genesis 26:12-22
For the Teacher: Cut out a lamb face and wrist band for each child. Using the pattern, cut the ears
from black felt. To make the gluing easier, provide paint brushes and pour the glue into a shallow pan. 18
Joseph’s Colorful Coat Gen
esis 37
Joseph Paper Doll Joseph was a boy who loved God. Joseph also loved his father, and his father loved him. Joseph’s father gave him a very beautiful coat made with many colors. Color the picture of Joseph. Color Joseph’s coat with bright colors. Your teacher will show you how to put Joseph’s coat on him. Pretend you are Joseph’s father and put Joseph’s coat on him. Then take off Joseph’s coat and pretend Joseph goes to sleep. When Joseph wakes up, you can put his coat back on him.
For the Teacher: Glue each figure of Joseph to poster board and cut it out. Also precut each coat. Help the children put the coats on and take the coats off their Josephs. When the children are done playing, staple the coat onto each Joseph for the children to take home. Cover the staples with tape to avoid injury. 19
