52 Ways to Teach Children to Share the Gospel

[1

Alphabet Code Fun

J _

OBJECflVE: To give children a biblical basis for sharing the Gospel

Appropriate for ages 6 to 12

What to do: 1. Your teacher will draw a 3 %-inch circle in the center of the smaller circle and will punch a hole in each circle. 2. Fasten the circles with a paper fastener.

God's love is so big. It is for everyone in the whole world. Everyone, everywhere needs to hear the Gospel. Write the letter of the alphabet that comes after each letter found in the puzzle below. (Exception: The letter A follows the letter Z). You will discover a verse that tells how to have etemallife. This is the message we need to tell people all over the world. Make a decoder to solve the puzzle. The answer is on page 63.

3. Use a straight-edge to mark 26 evenly-spaced

lines extending from the outer edge of the 3 %-inch circle to the outer edge of the 6-inch circle. 4. Print the alphabet in clockwise order on each circle. It doesn't matter where you begin on each circle. 5. To decode the puzzle, line up the A on the outer circle with B on the inner circle. Find the letter under each blank on the outer circle and write the inner circle letter in the blank.

What you need: • duplicated puzzle • marker or pencil • scissors • tape • 6-inch and 4-inch poster board circles • brass paper fastener

OBJECTIVE: An eye-catching way to display and reinforce John 3:16

Appropriate for ages 5 to 9

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16 (NIV) Everyone needs to hear about God and His love. The colors in this mosaic picture will remind you that Jesus died and lives for all the people of the world. You may want to give it to a friend who is interested in hearing more about Jesus. What you need:

• 6 x 9-inch piece of black construction paper • Y2-inch strips of red, brown, yellow, black, and white construction paper • scissors • glue • paint brushes (optional)

-•• z:

= 0 ., 8

What to do: 1. Cut each color strip of construction paper

into odd shapes of various sizes.

2. Arrange the various colored shapes on the half sheet of black construction paper. Leave a little space between the pieces so that some black will be seen. This will give it the mosaic effect. 3. Glue shapes into place. You may want to use paint brushes to spread the glue over the construction paper. 4. While colored shapes are drying, cut out the John 3:16 cross pattern. Center and glue the cross into place on top of the colored strips.

OBJECTIVE: Introduces children to ways to

travel to people who need to hear the Gospel

Appropriate for ages 5 to 9 Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature. - Mark 16:15 Jesus told us to go to people who need to hear the Good News of salvation. Color each way a missionary could travel to tell others about Jesus.

•

You can be a missionary too. Do you know someone who needs to hear about Jesus? Put a circle around the way you would go, or travel, to tell that person the Good News of salvation. Start praying for that person today. Pray that you will be able to talk about Jesus with that person .

Bring a Friend Pop-Up Card

OBJECTIVE: To encourage each child to bring a friend to church

Appropriate for ages 6 to 9 They are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ. -II Corinthians 8:23

3. Make four pencil marks on the folded edge of one construction paper piece, 1 inch from each end and 1 inch from those marks. Cut a 1-inch line at each mark.

Titus and Paul told others about Jesus. You can help others learn about Jesus, too. Inviting a friend to church is one way to share Jesus with them. Make an invitation to send or give to a friend who needs to hear about Jesus. Check with your parents to see if your friend could spend the previous night with you or if your parents could pick up your friend on the way to church. You may want to bring an extra Bible for your friend.

4. Fold the cut middle pieces back and press down. Tum the card over and fold from the other side. Open the flaps.

What you need: • two 6 x 8-inch sheets of bright construction paper • two 6 x 1-inch construction paper strips • markers or crayons • scissors • glue What to do: 1. Cut out the patterns below (choose a boy or girl runner).

2. Fold two 6 x8-inch construction paper sheets in half.

5. Open the card. Press the middle pieces up from behind into box shapes. Pinch up and crease the center fold of the boxes. 6. Spread glue around the edges of the card, and glue it to the other piece of construction paper. Match the center folds. Gently pull the boxes toward you. 7. Make a spring by gluing the two paper strips at right angles. Fold the first strip up over the second. Keep folding the strips across each other until the paper is used up. 8. Glue the top flap and press. Glue the spring inside the card, centered just above the boxes. 9. Glue a hurdle onto each box. Glue the runner onto the spring. 10. Draw a track field around the hurdles. 11. Glue Jump for Joy .. . on the front of the card. Print a message on the track field, and sign your name.
