••• Introduction ••• Do your toddlers know that they can help God?

Knowing how they can help God is a first step in growing in the Lord. After they participate in the activities in I Can Help God, toddlers will begin to understand that they, too, can help God in many ways. Each of the first eight chapters includes a Bible story, memory verse, and a variety of activities to help reinforce the truth in the lesson. An additional chapter contains miscellaneous projects that can be used anytime throughout the study, or at the end to review the lessons. The most exciting aspect of Instant Bible Lessons for Toddlers, which includes My Amazing God, Jesus Teaches Me, I Can Help God, and I Believe in Jesus, is its flexibility. You can easily adapt these lessons to a Sunday school hour, a children's church service, a Wednesday night Bible study or family home use. And, because there is a variety of reproducible ideas from which to choose (see below), you will enjoy creating a class session that is best for your group of students, whether large or small, beginning or advanced, active or studious. The intriguing topics will keep your kids coming back for more, week after week.

* How to Use This Book * Each chapter begins with a Bible story which you may read to your class in one of two levels, followed by discussion questions. Following each story page is a story visual for you to make and use as you tell the story. Every story chapter also includes a bulletin board poster with the memory verse and suggestions for using the poster as an activity. All the activities are tagged with one of the icons below, so you can quickly flip through the chapter and select the projects you need. Simply cut off the teacher instructions on the pages and duplicate!

I Can Help God BIJ Helping MIJ FamillJ Memor'J Verse Serve one another in love. - Galatians 5:13

God's people were in the land of Egypt. Their families grew and grew. The Pharaoh said, "We must do something to keep these people from becoming so strong that they can rule over us." So, the king made God's people become their slaves. Then, he said that all baby boys must be killed so there would be no more generations of God's people. Moses' mother put Baby Moses in a basket on the Nile River. Moses' sister Miriam watched to make sure the baby was safe. Pharaoh's daughter found the basket. Miriam asked Pharaoh's daughter, "Would you like me to get someone to feed the baby for you?" When Pharaoh's daughter said, "yes," Miriam went and got her mother. Moses' mommy got to help take care of him, and he was safe. Miriam helped God by helping her family. She helped keep her baby brother safe.

The people of Egypt did not want there to be so many of God's people. They made God's people be slaves in Egypt. And, the Pharaoh didn't want the baby boys to live. Baby Moses' mother put him in a basket and set the basket near the bank of the river. When the daughter of the Pharaoh found the baby, Moses' sister Miriam asked if she needed a helper. Miriam brought Moses' own mother to take care of Moses. Based on Exodus 1:8-2:10

three pictures from the page. Prepare the bulrushes: fold a sheet of brown or green construction paper in half, then fold it in half again. Use scissors to cut strips down from the open side (not the folded sides), down to about 1 inch from the bottom. Use a pencil to curl the strips outward to look like grass or bulrushes. : 2. To tell the story, hold the bulrushes piece upright. Slip the baby Moses figure between the folds. Then, as the story progresses, slip the Pharaoh's daughter figure, then the Miriam figure between the folds of the bulrushes piece.

Another Idea Use the Moses-in-the-basket figure from the pattern page. Cut out the figure and cover it with clear, self-stick plastic. Place some plastic greenery, such as used in a fish tank, in a shallow pan or plastic container. Pour a little water in the container. Let children put Moses in the bulrushes while you retell the story.
