IN'0160DUC'OiON hildren need to grow up learning the foundations of the Bible. When you teach from the Bible, your children will learn what God expects from them and what He can do for them. Children who learn the basics of God's love and care will grow and mature in their walk with the Lord.
Five-Minute Sunday School Activities is designed to give teachers a quick activity that teaches an important Bible truth. Teachers are often faced with a few extra minutes after the lesson is finished. There are also times when a teacher needs a few moments to get attendance and other important things out of the way before the main lesson. Instead of wasting these minutes with non-learning play, provide a Five-Minute activity! The activities in the book can also be used as entire lessons. Bible story references, teaching suggestions, and memory verses are included with each activity. EXTlOA TIME suggestions are given for each activity. If you have more than five minutes, extend the lesson time with the EXT lOA TIME option.

WHAT TO DO l. Introduce the lesson by telling the story from Genesis Chapter 1 about all that God created. Say, Verse 31 tells us that God sawall He had made, and it
was very good. We can look around us at God's creation and say, lilt is very good." 2. Distribute a pattern page to each child. 3. Say the memory verse. 4. Tell the children to use the letters in the memory verse to make words that describe things God created. Suggest some ideas for younger children: cats, dogs, trees, ants, stars, toads, goats and horses.

WHAT TO DO 1. Introduce the lesson by telling the story from Genesis 2:15-18 and 3:1-24. Say,
God made people to not know about sinning. But sin entered the world when Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree. God still wants us to stay away from sin and try to do the right thing every day. 2. Show the children the sample craft. 3. Distribute a pattern page to each child and say the memory verse. 4. Show how to cut the flaps on the solid lines, then fold on the dashed lines. 5. Have the students read the phrase on each flap and draw a picture to match under the flap. 6. Encourage the children to write the memory verse on the back of the craft. While the children write, encourage a discussion about what the world would be like today if Adam and Eve had not sinned. Also discuss what the world would be like if each person refused to sin even the tiniest bit.
M
EXT16A TIME Play the Good or Evil game. Write several good or evil situations on plain paper. For example: "You tell your mom you are finished with your homework, which isn't true. But you want to get to the computer before your brother does." Place the papers on the floor in a pattern so that the children can easily step from one paper to another. Set a timer and tell the children to walk around the area, stepping only on the papers, not on the bare floor. When the timer goes off, point to one child. That child should pick up his or her paper and read the phrase (help the younger ones with reading). Ask the child if that situation is good or evil. 11

God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. God said, "Eat from any tree, but do not eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, or you will die."
The serpent told Eve, "Surely you will not die if you eat fruit from this tree." Eve ate the fruit and gave some to Adam.

Duplicate the pattern page for each child. Cut one 8" length of yarn per child. Make a sample craft to show the children.
1. Introduce the lesson by telling the story of Noah and the flood from Genesis chapters 6-9. Ask, What did God put into the sky to show His promise? What was the promise? 2. Show the sample craft and say the memory verse. 3. Distribute a pattern page to each child. Ask, How does it feel to see a rainbow and know that God put it in the sky to remind us He keeps His promises? 4. Have the children fold the page in half. Also, have them fold at least one plain sheet of paper in half. 5. Help the children punch two holes at the top of the folded set of pages. They should thread the yam through the holes and tie it. 6. Explain how to use the booklet at home. On one side of the pages, the students should list promises that God makes to them (for example: "God promises me salvation."). On the other side, they should list promises they can make to God (for example: "Obey my parents."). Encourage the children to keep their promises to God. Have them color the booklet if time permits.
WP EXTlOA TIME Make a rainbow mural to display. On a large piece of newsprint, draw a simple rainbow shape and write the memory verse above it. Place bright colors of washable paint in shallow pans or bowls. Have the children dip sponge pieces into the paint and dab some on the mural. Encourage the children to paint each arch a different color. 13

To prepare, write these phrases on the chalkboard or on a piece of poster board: I promise to say three kind things to ... I promise to pray for ... I promise to be helpful to ... Give each child a slip of paper. Have the children write their own name on the paper. Place all the name papers into a bowl. Then have the children each draw out a name. Say, For the remainder of class time, you must keep the three promises that I've written on the board to the people whose name you have drawn. 15

1. Introduce the lesson by telling the story from Genesis chapter 22. Say, Sometimes it seems God is leading us in a way we don't understand. Maybe your parents feel God wants them to share money with a family in need, but your dad is not working now either. Sometimes we don't understand, but God always provides. 2. Show the children the sample craft. 3. Distribute a pattern page to each child and say the memory verse. 4. Have the children cut the strip from the page, then cut the two slits in the mountain scene. 5. Have the children fold the mountain scene in half at the dashed lines. They should tape it at the edge. 6. Help the children slip the moving strip through the slits, as shown. Discuss some situations, as mentioned in Step 1 above, with the children. Encourage them to tell of a time when they didn't understand what would happen but God provided. 7. The children may color the scenes as they wish.
WP EXT16A TIME Have the children write GOD PROVIDES with pencil under the memory verse. Then show how to go over the letters with glue, and sprinkle on some glitter or colored sand. 17
