HELLO We are thrilled to bring you a jam-packed drama programme, from Autumn 2017 to Spring 2018.

After a Spring season which took us from Gravesend to Naples, from a caravan to an adventure playground, we start the Autumn with The Real Thing - Tom Stoppard's witty play about love and deception starring Laurence Fox. Sam Holcroft’s ‘hilarious Ayckbourn-style family comedy’ (The Guardian), Rules for Living follows a family on Christmas day and the strains on relationships which come with the festive period. This Autumn we will also be welcoming Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days, Northern Broadsides with their new adaptation of Lesage’s Turcaret, For Love or Money, and Brian Clemens' thriller Strictly Murder. Moving into 2018, we see a classic tale brought to the stage with Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, starring Phil Daniels as the eponymous character. A lawyer suspects something strange is going on between his old friend Dr Jekyll and the mysterious My Hyde… In March 2018 we are very excited to welcome renowned director Lindsay Posner to the Rose for the first time with Stephen Bill's award-winning play, Curtains. As Ida's family gathers to celebrate her 86th birthday, old rivalries come to the surface in this hilariously dark comedy.

Music and comedy fans are in for a treat as we have a variety of shows, including renowned pianist Lucy Parham who will be performing Elegie – Rachmaninoff as a fundraising event for the Rose and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Audiences are guaranteed to have a smile brought to their faces with Rich Hall’s Hoedown, a mash up of music and comedy and Graeme of Thrones, a theatrical parody on the critically acclaimed television drama. It’s not just drama we do, we have a whole season of family-friendly shows including our Christmas extravaganza Alice in Winterland. Visit our website for more details. We look forward to welcoming you to the Rose including the Rose Café, which provides light bites and a wide selection of drinks, all with free wi-fi and regular events throughout the year.

Written by Blake Morrison Directed by and featuring Barrie Rutter Designed by Jessica Worrall In a small town in Yorkshire, a beautiful widow is being wooed by two suitors. Fresh from the City and with endless money to dispose of, the older one showers her with gifts – which the younger (handsome, impecunious, an inveterate gambler) wants to put to better use. A love triangle, then; a tale of rivalry and avarice. But money’s a slippery commodity and all is not quite as it seems. Throw in a bailiff, a drunkard, a vamp, a second-hand clothes dealer and two upwardly mobile servants, and the complications multiply. Adapted from Alain-Rene Lesage’s savage eighteenth-century comedy Turcaret, Blake Morrison’s For Love or Money is a story of monstrous wealth and whopping lies. 09

More recently, Trevor Nunn directed the John Barton and Hall adaptation The Wars of The Roses at the Rose. But KiSS also commemorates Kingston’s historic connection with Shakespeare, which goes back to the great actor David Garrick – who lived here, and built the Shakespeare Temple beside the Thames – and to the first performances of some of Shakespeare’s best loved plays at nearby Hampton Court.

KINGSTON UNIVERSITY

DORICH HOUSE MUSEUM

STANLEY PICKER GALLERY

One of London’s hidden gems, Dorich House Museum at Kingston University is located a ‘Deer’s Leap’ from Richmond Park, along Kingston Vale in South West London.

Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University is a public venue supported by Arts Council England, dedicated to the commissioning, production and presentation of innovative practice across art, design and architecture.

The former studio home of the Russian sculptor Dora Gordine and her husband the Hon. Richard Hare, a scholar of Russian art and literature, this listed building was completed in 1936 to Gordine’s own design, and is an exceptional example of a modern studio house created by and for a female artist. Following Gordine’s death in 1991 the house was acquired and renovated by Kingston University and is now open to the public as a fully accredited museum. In the spirit of Gordine’s exemplary life and career, the Museum operates as an international centre to promote and support women creative practitioners. Artist Hilary Lloyd was appointed the inaugural Dorich House Fellow in autumn 2015.

From its island location along the Hogsmill River, the Gallery generates an on-site, offsite and on-line programme of fellowships, exhibitions, participatory projects and events. In 2017 the Gallery celebrates its 20th anniversary with an exciting programme including new commissions by current Stanley Picker Fellows Yemi Awosile and Simon Martin, and an ambitious new live work by artistmusician Anat Ben David with design-studio Boudicca (pictured).
