He said: “Your friends, your neighbours and even people you don’t like, tell them about it... just spread the word. Save Our Town!” All three casks of the limited edition beer had been supped at the ‘Brickies’ by Saturday afternoon, but bottles were still on sale at various bars in Luton and Barton this week.

#saveourtown ambassadors were out in force at Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road ground on Saturday when the Hatters played Sunderland in front of a sell-out crowd of just over 10,000. A banner was paraded around the ground at half-time and a collection was held after the game, with fans donating £1,344.07 towards the group’s latest target of £10,000 to help publicise its campaign.

Local business people are continuing to add their names in support of the proposals. Among the latest is Gabrielle mcKeown, who runs the Brewery Tap pub in Park Street, a popular venue for Luton Town fans on home match days. She said: “Having taken the time to review all the information to hand I have not wanted to rush my decision. The importance of having a football ground and the team remaining in the town has to be weighed against the potential negative that newlands Park could have. I now feel that newlands Park should be supported.” A fundraiser hosted by #saveourtown and the Gavin Shuker (mP for Luton South) Summer School was held on Wednesday (August 15) at Hope Church, Villa Road, Luton.

A mAn who was found in possession of Class A drugs when stopped by police while driving a stolen car has been sentenced to more than five years in prison. In January this year Jibran Azam, 20, of The magpies, Luton, was driving a stolen car on the m1 when he was pulled over by officers. Azam refused to get out of the car and was seen to swallow something. The passenger in the car was seen to throw a container into a field. Fortunately a police dog was able to locate the container which was found to contain four grams each of crack cocaine and heroin. Azam pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to supply, as well as possession of cannabis and a number of driving offences, and was sentenced to five years and eight months. He’s also been banned from driving for three years and 10 months. During the sentencing Judge Bright referenced Azam’s previous Continued on page 3

Luton man used snooker cue in attack on woman A mAn has been sentenced to nine years in prison and given a lifetime restraining order, after attacking a woman in Bury Park Road, Luton. Aftab Uddin, 35 of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Friday, August 10, 2018, after he was found guilty of grievous bodily harm and harassment with fear of violence. The sentence relates to an incident which took place on February 8, when Uddin used a snooker cue to attack his victim, causing a deep cut to her head which left her requiring six stitches. He will serve a minimum of six years before he can apply for parole and will also serve a five year extended licence. In addition, he was also served with a lifetime restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim in the future. Detective Constable Joanna Bosson, who led the investigation, said: “Uddin is a clearly dangerous individual who showed complete

disregard for his victim as he hit multiple times with a snooker cue. “The victim was left with multiple injuries following the incident, and he then continued to threaten her through text messages and I can only commend her for her courage since the attack. “We are pleased that Uddin has received a significant sentence that reflects the severity of his actions, which should serve as a stern warning to anyone thinking of violently assaulting another person.” –––––––––––––––

convictions for dealing drugs which he took into account when passing the sentence. Azam’s passenger at the time of the offence, Eamonn Ronan, 41, of Links Way, Luton, pleaded guilty to obstructing the police and was sentenced to one month imprisonment. He was jailed for a further eight months for breaching a suspended sentence. Investigation Officer Gary Hales said: “We’re really pleased this prolific Class A drug dealer will be locked behind bars for a substantial amount of time. We will not tolerate those who wish to bring harm to our communities through the dealing of illicit and harmful substances and we hope this sentence acts as a deterrent to others. “If people have concerns about drug related activity in their community we would urge them to get in touch with us so we can take the appropriate action.”

Former top officer found to have committed gross misconduct A FORmER officer who repeatedly accessed information on an individual has been found to have committed gross misconduct. Chris Beresford, who had resigned from his role as a detective chief inspector in February after 20 years’ service, was found to have breached professional standards and would have faced instant dismissal had he still have been a serving officer. A Special Case Hearing held at our Kempston HQ on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, heard how Beresford had accessed force computer systems outside of his role on numerous occasions between november 2015 and October 2016. An investigation was launched in January by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Professional Standards Department which found he had accessed a crime report,

custody record, case documents and a restraining order and sent emails to outside agencies and websites in relation to the ex-partner of a family member with no policing reason. He was interviewed and subsequently criminally cautioned for two offences under the Data Protection Act and Computer misuse Act. Although Beresford had already resigned from the force, a decision was made in 2017 that all gross misconduct cases must continue to their conclusion. Chief Constable Jon Boutcher chaired the misconduct hearing and formally dismissed Beresford, who did not attend the hearing but was represented by the Police Federation. mr Boutcher said: “Chris Beresford abused his position to repeatedly access personal information of an individual with no proper policing purpose.

He accepted his criminal acts by accepting a criminal caution in may. Having looked at the circumstances of this case presented to me, I consider that he is fortunate not to have faced criminal charges. “Police officers are trusted with access to a large amount of personal data and it is imperative that information is handled responsibly and appropriately. “This was a breach of that trust and an abuse of his powers which let his colleagues down and could well damage the reputation of the force. Such behaviour has no place in policing and is gravely injurious to the relationship between the public and the police. It is in the public interest to ensure the swift and immediate cessation of the careers of any police officers who fail to live up to the high standards expected both by the organisation and the public in this regard.”

Sword, knives and drugs found in operation An operation targeting knife crime and serious youth violence in Luton has yielded positive results, after three teenagers were found with bladed weapons and a further two in possession of drugs on Thursday, August 9, 2018. Our Boson team, which is dedicated to tackling gang and gun related crime, led an operation assisted by firearms and community

policing officers, targeting known hotspots around the town. In an initial incident, a 17-yearold boy was arrested in macaulay Road, Luton shortly before 5pm after officers found him with a sword hidden in his trousers. Later in the evening, two 18-yearold men were arrested after being found in possession of a machete and a lock knife in a car park in

Lewsey Farm. At the same location, an 18-yearold man and a 15-year-old boy were also arrested after being found in possession of class B drugs. Detective Chief Inspector Duncan Young, from our Serious and Complex Crime unit, said: “This was a hugely effective operation which involved a number of the force’s teams, including our community offi-

cers, and was only possible thanks to an increase in engagement from our communities. “This is a true example that when police and communities combine, together we can make our streets safer. “Our Boson team is relentless in pursuing those individuals who think it’s acceptable to bring weapons and drugs into the county.”

Luton man jailed for three burglaries

A LUTOn man labelled a ‘professional criminal’ by a judge has been jailed for 21 months for three burglaries. Alan Smith, 40, of Kingsland Road, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, after pleading guilty to three attempt burglaries. Smith had attempted to steal from three properties on Claydown Way and Front Street on 27 April. He woke up one of the occupants during his attempts, and when police arrived at the scene Smith was found hiding in a nearby bush. When sentencing, Judge Bridge said of Smith’s offences: “We are dealing with a man who is a profes-

sional criminal. You have a truly shocking record it is a long time since I have seen a record as bad as this. You specialise in burglaries. “You should consider yourself lucky that you have not received a higher sentence and if you appear before the courts for similar offences in the future then your sentences can only get longer and longer.” Detective Constable Jeremy Atkin said: “I’m pleased that this offender has now been taken off the streets for a considerable amount of time and I’m hoping during his time in jail he reflects on his actions. “At Bedfordshire Police we are committed to reducing burglary and the sentencing of Smith shows that this is a crime that we take seriously.” –––––––––––––––

Police secure Criminal Behaviour Order for Bedford man

A mAn has been banned from entering Kempston for five years after repeatedly causing nuisance in the town. James Bondon, 19, from Bedford, was served with a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) following a hearing at Luton magistrates’ Court

on monday, August 13, 2018. The conditions include banning him from Kempston, with exception of any pre-arranged appointments. Bondon was also sentenced to a total of four weeks’ imprisonment for criminal damage, theft and breaching a suspended sentence. Sergeant Luke Blackburn, from Bedfordshire Police’s community team in Bedford, said: “Bondon was known to cause nuisance in the area which now he had been banned from, and we hope that this will bring reassurance to our communities and encourage victims of this kind of criminal behaviour to come forward. –––––––––––––––

Police secure a second Criminal Behaviour Order in a week

THE north Community policing team has secured a second Criminal Behaviour Order this week following a hearing at Luton magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Gareth Owens, 36, of Frampton Court, Bedford has been found guilty of begging offences and served with a Criminal Behaviour Order for a period of three years. The conditions of the order prohibit Owens from coming into Bedford town centre with exception of pre-arranged appointments, in which he is not to act in intimidating or anti-social manner. Sergeant Luke Blackburn said: “Owens is known in Bedford for his aggressive begging and nuisance behaviour. He has now been banned from the town centre and will no longer be able to intimidate members of the public. “This result was achieved through the hard work of my community team and local partners and it shows that we are committed to tackling this kind of anti-social behaviour and making a difference in our communities.” People can report anti-social behaviour through Bedfordshire Police’s online reporting centre or by calling 101.

JOINT STATEMENT FROM LUTON TOWN FC SUPPORTERS’ GROUPS

“We won’t be beaten – we won’t give in to your dirty tricks” supporters tell Mall owners C&R WITH the excitement of the first season back in League One upon us, we’re all looking forward to some great battles on the pitch. But make no mistake, our most important battle is off the pitch – and it is still to be won. Capital & Regional, owners of The Mall, continue in their attempts to ‘kick the plans for Power Court and Newlands Park into the long grass’. No matter that those plans have the overwhelming support of Luton’s communities, taxpayers, businesses and politicians. No matter that they will generate more than 10,000 new jobs and over £250 million a year for the local economy. No matter that they will help regenerate the whole town and give us back a sense of pride in the place we call our home. Oh no. This is all about them and their profits. A faceless, greedy corporation protecting their self-declared ‘dominance of the town centre and its retail’. Forget the will of the public, the long term future of the town. It’s all about C&R and the millions they pocket without giving anything back to the communities they laughably claim to care about. No one can any longer be fooled by their false claims and underhand tactics, surely? They say they support Power Court whilst simultaneously trying to kill off Newlands Park, knowing full well that without Newlands there can be no Power Court, no regeneration – just years more of the stagnation we have seen while they milk The Mall, and the people of Luton, for every penny they can. (Incidentally, what has happened to that £7million they were going to spend on The Mall? No sign of that, even if it is a paltry sum compared to what 2020 Developments have already invested, and a tiny fraction of what will be invested in regeneration by 2020’s plans, and the annual returns that investment will bring to us all, the people of Luton). You may well have seen the controversy about letters to the Luton News attacking 2020’s plans which appear to come from correspondents with ‘address supplied’ but no evidence of their actual existence. The pressure being put on

members of Luton BID, the representatives of businesses in the town centre, to withdraw their declared support for Power Court and Newlands Park with a highly skewed version of what the recent Retail Impact Report says. Rumours abound of members of the BID committee being approached and influenced by C&R. – Of attempts to bully the council with threats of legal action. We’re all familiar with ‘fake news’ and its alleged effect on national politics at home and abroad. Are we seeing those tactics being used right here on our doorsteps? Many might say a resounding ‘yes’. – It’s happened many times when PR companies get into the murky waters of trying to influence elected decision makers with their dark arts. Well, we’ve got some genuine news for you C&R. – We won’t be beaten. We will not give in to dirty tactics and threats about the future of the town and its economy. You know why? Because we ARE the town and the future of its economy. – Power Court and Newlands Park are essential to the health and wealth of Luton now and for generations. So let’s see this battle won, the applications approved with no more attempted delays by being ‘called in’ or judicial review. Let’s see the building work begun. As for you C&R, shape up or ship out. Speaking of which, any truth to the growing and persistent rumours that you’re planning to sell up and go anyhow? Why not come and talk to the people of Luton, tell us your side of the story? The invitation to Lawrence Hutchings, CEO of C&R was made months ago and still stands. We’re looking forward to two things this season. Success off the pitch, after this long drawn-out saga, and the Power Court and Newlands Park vision becoming reality. And success on the pitch, with our rip-roaring Hatters tearing through the rest of League One. COYH. COPC&NP! Supporters urged to drop the politics

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM LUTON TOWN CEO GARY SWEET

AS I came away from a magnificent performance at The Hawthorns last night against a very strong West Brom team, as usual, I reflect upon the highs and lows, and the good and ‘can do better’ aspects of both the match and the experience. I love The Hawthorns. As I was taking in the environment last night, in many ways it felt a little like how I imagine Power Court will be. Indeed, there a few similar design characteristics (plus a few improvements) between the two which I know everyone would be so proud of once it gets built. Despite having an attendance of around 10,000 (with a very impressive 1,100 from Luton, for which we thank you) the stadium provided a lively atmosphere, whereby everyone felt involved and included. Apart from the result, our experience was blemished, for the second away game running, by hearing the chanting the name of a political figurehead by a small number of Hatters supporters. This is hugely disappointing for us, as a board, because the individual in question wasn’t playing or involved in the squad or staff. Everyone at the club has worked extremely hard and will continue to work tirelessly to create an environment – whether that be Kenilworth Road, Power Court or any away game – for our community of supporters to support their team and enjoy a football match knowing that all prejudice – whether that be political, religious, cultural or racial – can and should be left for another day. This allows us to invite anybody into our environment without discomfort, disrespect or fear, and welcome any and every member of our wide community respectfully. Luton and Luton Town Football Club is intertwined in a rich tapestry of continuous change and diversity and, for me, the success of embracing such difference has always been ideologically characteristic of ‘being Lutonian’. We absolutely accept and respect the fact that everyone holds their own independent opinions and values, but we politely ask for you to temporarily overlook those views for a couple of hours or so when attending Luton Town matches in future. We, at Luton Town, are proud of the culture we have nurtured in the last ten years, taking the positive elements of our glorious history and blending those with our ambition to be successful, our desire to see our club fully retributed, our passion to unite our communities and our absolute, indefatigable dedication to see our town regenerated, resulting in the feeling of pride and prosperity we all deserve. There is a lot at stake. Please respect others when supporting our great club, please support the players on the pitch and please refrain from introducing non-football songs into our stadia. Thank you for your co-operation. Gary Sweet

Takeaway fined £12,000 for hygiene offences

A TAKEAWAY, trading as ‘Vijays’ and registered as Vijays Indian Since 1992 at 90 Tavistock Street, Bedford has received a fine of £12,000 after pleading guilty to eight food hygiene offences. As a result of a visit to the premises by Bedford Borough Council’s Regulatory Services team on may 18, 2017, the visit identified a serious infestation of cockroaches where Environmental Health Officers identified that the hygiene and safety standards at the premises fell below legal standards. Intervention by Environmental Health Officers resulted in the food business agreeing to temporarily close the premises and cease trading. During the closure actions were taken to bring the pest infestation under control and improve standards within the premises, in order to ensure that food could be prepared safely and in a manner that did not present an imminent risk to the public. Significant improvements were made following a series of re-inspections which permitted the establishment to reopen after six days. Further improvements were made including formal staff training, replacement of equipment, documented food safety management system, pest-proofing of the premises and implementing a formal pest control contract. On July 17, 2018, Vijays Indian Bedford Limited, trading as Vijays and registered as Vijays Indian Since 1992 at 90 Tavistock Street, Bedford mK41 2RX and mr mohi Uddin Rubel, a director of the company, pleaded guilty to the charges laid. Vijays Indian Bedford Limited received a fine of £12,000 which reflected the early submission of a guilty plea and co-operation with officers following the closure of the business. mr mohi Uddin Rubel also received a fine of £375.

Archaeological excavation to enter its final stage THE archaeological excavation of Sandy’s future cemetery extension and Council depot site is to enter its final stage. The third phase of the excavation will see the final section of the site, closest to Stratford Road excavated. Archaeologists have suggested that it is possible this remaining small section of the site may uncover evidence of buildings which would have fronted a Roman road. The Council were encouraged by attendance at the site open day held on 21st July 2018, where almost 400 members of the public came along to see the site and speak with archaeologists. The full scale archaeological excavation of the site is a planning requirement which must be undertaken and paid for by the Town Council as part of the cemetery extension and depot build. The cost

of the excavation works, archaeological fieldwork, reinstatement of land, post-excavation analysis, editing and archiving will cost the Council £75,595. Due to the significance of the site the Council are required by planning to have the excavation formally written up into an archaeological report which must be publicised. Indicative costs for the analysis and publication are £25,000. The Council has planned for this expenditure, which will be funded via an internal loan from funds held by the Council. Once the excavation of this final section is completed Central Bedfordshire Council will sign off on the excavation and the Town Council will start work on the building of a much-needed Council storage depot and the beginning of the cemetery extension, including a car park for use by visitors.

Much needed work to start on final part of A421 upgrade CEnTRAL Bedfordshire Council is to commence preparatory site work on the A421 from the first week of September, ahead of dualling the remaining section of road running from magna Park in milton Keynes to the roundabouts in Central Bedfordshire adjacent to junction 13 of the m1. Central Bedfordshire Council will be leading the project, working with milton Keynes Council to deliver the upgraded section, which is 3km long and used by almost 30,000 vehicles a day. The majority of this stretch falls in Central Bedfordshire. The initial work is starting after the Department for Transport announced in march that they had approved £23.5 million worth of funding from SEmLEP’s Local Growth Fund for the project. Both Central Bedfordshire Council and milton Keynes Council are each contributing up to £3million towards this £28.5million project. As well as easing congestion, the upgraded A421 road will help improve access to planned developments in Central Bedfordshire, such as the 5,000 homes proposed in new villages in the marston Vale area (in Central Bedfordshire Council’s Local Plan), as well as 40 hectares of employment land. The upgraded road will also help improve access to Ridgmont train station, which is due to be enlarged as part of network Rail’s East-West Rail project. Councillor nigel Young, Executive member for Regeneration at Central Bedfordshire Council, said:

said: “As a council, we have a commitment to investing in infrastructure and providing it ahead of growth. The A421 road project supports our priorities to enhance Central Bedfordshire, and the new road layout will improve east-west transport links.

“The upgraded road will provide future and existing residents with greater opportunities for leisure activities, housing and employment. It will also help take traffic away from local parishes, increase safety, and benefit local businesses as well as commuters.

A new library for Dunstable – the next chapter In preparation for the next chapter of Dunstable Library, opening hours at the current library at Vernon Place will be changing. From Tuesday, September 11, 2018 Dunstable Library will be open from 10am to 2pm Tuesday to Saturday. Its last day will be Christmas Eve when it will close its doors for the last time at 2pm, ahead of the move into its new home at The Dunstable Centre, Court Drive, Dunstable. This will help to provide time to sort out the old building, the recruitment and training of new staff and the move to the new building. The brand new larger state-of-theart facilities based within the new Dunstable Centre, will house the most popular books and services, plus public access computers, flexible space for activities, events and clubs. During the closure, library users will be able to access the same library services in Houghton Regis and Leighton Buzzard. The library will be running a Drop Off Point for people to return library items at The Grove Theatre. The Drop Off Point will be open between 10am and 5pm,

Kempston burglar jailed for 27 months

monday to Friday, and 10am and 2pm on Saturdays throughout the closure period. Items will have been issued for a longer period than usual so that members will not be charged fines while the library is closed. Councillor Ian Dalgarno, Executive member for Community Services at Central Bedfordshire Council, said: “The leisure centre and library in Dunstable were no longer fit for purpose or cost effective to run. By bringing services together under one roof, the new facility will reduce running costs, while providing more flexible services to customers, such as improved opening hours for public services. “The brand-new library will be a large, bright and airy open-plan space, incorporating state-of-the-art equipment. The space will flow seamlessly within the main foyer and will be zoned for different activities.” more information about the Dunstable Centre redevelopment and the story so far can be seen on our website at www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/leisure/centres/dunstable /redevelopment/overview.aspx

motoring Honda unveils new subcompact SUV for 2019 HOnDA has revealed the first details of the 2019 HR-V, its most sophisticated subcompact SUV to date. The new model features enhanced exterior styling, updates to the interior and a range of advanced technologies. Upgrades to the elegant exterior design include a more substantial interpretation of Honda’s ‘Solid Wing Face’ graphic, with a new, high-gloss dark chrome panel that replaces the black-and-chrome combination above the grille. The front bumper features deeper air intake sections that house circular fog lights, and the headlights now have projector lenses with redesigned LED daytime running lights as standard. At the rear, a dark chrome garnish across the tailgate mirrors the new trim at the front, and the rear lights sit within darker lens casings. Higher-grade models feature a new 17-inch alloy design, and the exhaust tailpipe has a unique chrome

finisher. The headlights and rear lights are upgraded to full LED units, and the rear casings are enhanced with dark ‘smoked’ effect. From launch, the 2019 Honda HR-V will be available with the highly-efficient 1.5-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine, which offers a high output of 130 PS (96 kW) and maximum torque of 155 nm at 4,600 rpm. Acceleration from

0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes 10.2 seconds when equipped with the sixspeed manual (6mT), and 10.9 seconds with the optional CVT. The petrol engine offers an impressive blend of power and efficiency, with average fuel economy from 53.2 mpg* and official average CO2 emissions of 121* g/km for the CVT model. The i-VTEC engine has been

enhanced by ‘advanced plateau honing’, that lowers the friction level between the pistons and the cylinder bores by creating an ultra-smooth surface. Its timing chain guides also feature a new friction-reducing coating, which further helps to reduce long-term wear and boost engine efficiency. Honda has improved the interior quietness and refinement of the HRV by adding greater levels of insulating material around the car, including around the front bulkhead and wheel arches, the boot structure, and both front and rear door panels. Depending on model grade, the 2019 HR-V will also be equipped with Active noise Cancellation (AnC) for the first time. AnC is designed to reduce low-frequency noise in the interior by monitoring for such noises using two in-cabin microphones, and then cancelling them out with precisely-timed ‘reverse phase’ audio signals through the speakers

The WEC Super Season resumes this weekend at Silverstone

THE Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team is ready to continue the fight for top honours in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Round 3 takes place at the world-famous Silverstone Circuit, just a few miles from Greatworth Park where the team is based, making this the home event. The team expected fierce competition in the GTE Pro class at Le mans and that is precisely what they got. “The competition in GTE Pro is exceptionally strong – we saw that at Spa and Le mans,” said team principal George Howard-Chappell. “The guys with the new cars are sure to be improving and we already know how competitive Porsche and Ferrari are. We booked a test a month before the race and were joined by two of the other manufacturers, so at least three of us have an idea of what to expect given the new track surface. Ideally we would like to continue the winning streak that our sister team in the USA have been having but let’s see. We will be going flat out for sure and I’m confident the track layout suits our car.” The #66 Ford GT of Stefan mücke (GER), Olivier Pla (FRA) and Billy Johnson (US) came out on top of the Ford WEC runners at Le mans, with a sixth place finish earning them the points for a third place finish in the WEC standings. With a win in the opening round at Spa, mücke and Pla are now in second place in the Driver’s Championship battle, just eight points behind the leaders. now that Le mans is done for 2018, both #66 and #67 drop to the usual two-driver crews for the next few races. “It was important for us to take as many points as possible at Le mans,” mücke said. “The competi-

tion was very strong, especially from Porsche, so I’m pleased that we are in second with everything to fight for. Our target is to win the championship so we need to keep scoring maximum points and a win at Silverstone would be particularly special for the team as it is the home race. “Silverstone has always been the first round in the past so it’s good to go and race there in the summer this time. We tested there a few weeks ago and the circuit has new asphalt, which is going to make it very interesting. Everything you learnt about the track in the past, forget it! There is a lot more grip, which is a good thing, but it is also very aggressive asphalt so tyre management will be crucial this weekend if we want to stay in the game.” Andy Priaulx (GB), Harry Tincknell (GB) and Tony Kanaan (BRA) took a hard fought fourth place in class at Le mans but were demoted after the race due to a driving time infringement. The British duo, who won the 2017 WEC round at Silverstone, are eager to collect a good haul of points this weekend. “A repeat of last year when we took pole position, fastest lap and the win, would be very nice,” Tincknell said. “We’ve had a tough start to our season. We were going well at Spa until the accident and then we had a good race at Le mans, fighting hard all the way through with no issues other than a short fill which took us out of contention for third and then the post-race penalty. It means we are well down the championship table so we need to just go for outright wins now, hopefully starting at Silverstone. We had a great test there not long ago and we look reasonably strong. This race is going

to be all about tyre life due to the combination of the new abrasive surface and the high speed nature of Silverstone. With only four sets of tyres for six hours of racing that is going to be the key. The Ford GT has good aero efficiency and we look

after our tyres well so hopefully that’s an advantage for us. Let’s hope the home support will cheer us on to another win.” The 6 Hours of Silverstone gets underway on Sunday, August 19 at 12:00 GMT.

Alongside this he has had a solo career, and is now heading out on the road to support his recent album ‘Ghost in the Tanglewood’ released by Graphite Records in march 2018. “While leaning towards country music, my fairly unavoidable accent means that the songs come off less Willie nelson and more Bobby Thompson, but every lyric is purely heartfelt and every song is as true a

story as you’ll ever hear. This stuff has always been in my blood since I was a wee nipper and it’s an honour to finally get it out for people to hear” says Ginger. This album began life as a Pledge Campaign with all profits donated to The Samaritans to raise an awareness and support suicide prevention and mental health issues – a theme running through the album and close to Ginger’s heart.
