POWER COURT FREEHOLDS NOW UNDER 2020 CONTROL

Parents concern at cut-backs at Heart primaries THREE primary schools in Bedford’s most deprived areas fear losing staff from Head Teachers to Teaching Assistants in proposed cutbacks. Parents have now launched a petition fearing the changes could impact on up to 1,200 children’s primary education and longterm life chances and have formed an action group to put the spotlight on the situation. Alistair Burt and Mohammad Yasin who are MPs for the constituencies which include the schools

affected, have been approached by parents and families for their support. Members of the action group also attended the meeting of Bedford Borough Council meeting on Wednesday, October 10 in an attempt to air their views. Shackleton, Shortstown and Cauldwell are all part of the Heart Academies Trust which includes the secondary Bedford Academy in Mile Road where founding Head Teacher Claire Smith is now CEO.

Owners of Luton News and Times & Citizen up for sale THE entire Power Court site is now under the full control of Luton Town Football Club following a deal signed last week.

2020 Developments (Luton) Ltd, the Hatters’ property arm, completed the purchase of freehold interests in Power Court from Luton Borough Council. It follows 2020 Developments’ acquisition in 2016 of the greater proportion of the town centre site from British Land PLC.

Contracts were exchanged and completed between the two parties on Friday, with existing 2020 shareholders funding the purchase as an advance to ease the path for development proposals forming 2020’s wider plans for the football club’s stadium relocation and helping with the town’s regeneration. The club said this acquisition will simplify and bring together into one title a complex plot that consisted of 36 separate legal titles, 12 occupational leases and 17 ground leases. The contracts also included an option

agreement on part of the current dual carriageway along St Mary’s Road for 2020 Developments’ use for rerouting the River Lea for the creation of a new river frontage between the stadium and St Mary’s Church, as is detailed in the planning application for Power Court submitted 26 months ago. Luton Town added that together with the full freehold ownership of the 40-acre Newlands Park site at Junction 10 of the Continued on page 3

JOHNSTON Press, the publisher of the LUTON NEWS and Bedford’s TIMES & CITIZEN, has put itself up for sale. A statement issued by the company in today’s Independent online, said: “It was not currently in discussions with any potential buyers.” The decision came as a result of a strategic review, which began in 2017, assessing options for paying back £220 million in loans. The Edinburgh-based publisher owns and operates around 200 newspapers and websites around the UK and Isle of Man.

POLICE COLLECT NEARLY 900 WEAPONS IN AMNESTY BINS nEArLy 900 weapons have been recovered from weapons bins in the south of Bedfordshire. On Friday, October 5, officers from Bedfordshire Police’s crime reduction team emptied six bins and recovered a total of 897 weapons, including knives, an air rifle and an air pistol. The activity comes after a week-long operation dedicated to tackle knife crime. Operation Sceptre took place between Monday, September 17, and Sunday September 23, and saw the force run a variety of activity including weapons sweeps, education projects in schools and targeted patrols. Sergeant Ben Dimmock said: “Although this seems like an alarming number of weapons, it’s

incredibly positive that people are using our weapons bins. By disposing of knives and other weapons in our secure bins, these harmful instruments can’t fall into the wrong hands and be used in crime. “We have weapons bins around the county and we’d encourage people to utilise them, as they’re the safest way to dispose of knives. We know there are still too many knives on the streets. “By carrying one you risk a prison sentence if you use it against someone, you risk taking someone’s life if you stab them and they succumb to their injuries, and if you carry a knife you are more likely to become a victim of crime or injured yourself. Our message to young people is to bin the blade, and any other weapons, before it’s too late.”

The force has weapons bins across the county: Luton, on the corner of Purway Close and the Moakes Luton, opposite Lewsey Park swimming Pool Luton, behind hockwell ring Community Centre Luton, Farley hill shops (adjacent to community centre) Luton, Birch Link, Bury Park (adjacent to nadeem Plaza) shefford, Morrisons car park (by the recycling centre) houghton regis Police station Dunstable Police station Kempston, halsey road Police station Bedford, Greyfriars Police station Biggleswade Police station

Power Court freeholds now under 2020 control

Continued from page 1 M1, 2020 is doing all it can, subject to planning, to deliver on a positive vision for the town and region and bring forward muchneeded regeneration and economic benefits. Luton Town FC and 2020 Developments chief executive Gary Sweet said: “For over a dozen years the land at Power Court has been broadly derelict and seen as an eyesore in the heart of Luton’s town centre, observed by more than 100,000 rail commuters every single working day. “For the first time in many decades all the

ownership titles of this vitally important town centre landmark are all integrated which removes a significant barrier to development, which can only be fantastic news for the people of Luton. “I can confirm that the funding for this plot will be drawn from our own shareholders,

meaning that all income will benefit the local treasury. “I would like to thank the 2020 board for their continued support and wish to acknowledge the hard work of the property and legal teams at LBC for their endeavours in completing this task.”

Please save our town – sign the petition by Geoff Cox LuTON’S children are appealing to the grown-ups to ensure a bright future in the town for them. Three youngsters have already made the voices of their generation heard by starring in a video, which has gone viral with more than 11,000 views in less than a week. evie, Luca and Fabian are urging people to back the #saveourtown campaign to get the Newlands Park and Power Court regeneration projects approved. The trio are also asking you to sign the petition calling for major objectors Capital & regional, owners of The Mall shopping centre, to drop their block. Children under 16 cannot sign the Change.org petition, so evie, Luca and Fabian appeared in front of the camera to call on adults for support in the name of all young Lutonians. In the #DoItForTheKids film, evie and Luca say they have dreams of playing professional football for Luton Town when they grow up, while Fabian wants to be a YouTuber. Nigel Green, #saveourtown chairman, said: “The younger generations of Lutonians are the people who are going to be most acutely affected by whether or not their hometown gets transformed. “Newlands Park and Power Court will provide more than £250million a year for the local economy, 10,000 new jobs and new homes for them when they become adults. “But just as importantly, the plans will also

provide a range of exciting new facilities, such as an 1,800-capacity music venue, plus leisure and entertainment, to not only rejuvenate the town centre, but give them things to do and put some pride back into Luton. “Older generations have had to live with an unfair stigma placed on our town from generations of ingrained criticism and ridicule. The plans for Newlands Park and Power Court offer the only chance we’ve had in our lifetimes to reverse all that and make sure children grow up in a town with a positive, forward-thinking outlook.” Mr Green added: “They, more than anyone

else, deserve to be brought up with a sense of hope and no-one, certainly not a multi-national shopping centre corporation based in London, should stand in the way of the progress we all want and need. “So I’d urge all local people to sign the petition for Capital & regional to drop their block and, if not for themselves, do it for evie, do it for Luca, do it for Fabian. Do it for the kids.” As of yesterday afternoon, the petition had been signed by more than 4,300 people.

Parents concern at cutbacks at Heart primaries The aim is to bring all three primary schools within heart under one head Teacher. Cut backs have already led to losses of Teaching Assistants at Shackleton and parents fear the same will happen at the other schools. One parent, who didn’t want to be named, told us: We feel we are paying the price for incompetence elsewhere in the heart Academies Trust and our children will suffer. They are trying to get rid of Governors of the individual schools so they can dominate us from the Trust level.” heart Academies Trust has 12 Trustees listed, six of which are from The harpur Trust educational charity. Two of a further six co-opted members have recently resigned. harpur Trust members are: hanif Patel, harriet Mather, David Wilson, Linbert Spencer, Sue Clark and Diana rostron. hudson and Vicky Green recently resigned. heart Academies Trust was formed after Bedford Academy, formerly John Bunyan School, was selected by the Labour Government for a new academy status with a £25 Million state-of-the-art new-build. The harpur Trust was an educational sponsor in keeping with its charitable status. As academies altered under the Conservative Lib-Dem coalition, the project was allowed to continue. Feeder schools Shackleton, Shortstown and Cauldwell were later taken into the heart Academies Trust. The harpur Trust www.harpurtrust.org.uk says: “heart Academies Trust is proud of the achievements of each of the schools within the Trust. They all strive to provide an excellent education and opportunities for chidren aged from 2 to 18 years. The key factor in their success is a willingness to colloborate, learn from each other and a desire to achieve the best for every child.”

Kempston man sentenced for armed robbery at Co-op A MAN from Kempston has been sentenced to over four years in prison after an armed robbery at a local CoOp store in July. Curtis Clarke, 29, of Kendall road, was sentenced on Friday, October 5, at Luton Crown Court. he pleaded guilty to robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and theft from a shop at an earlier hearing. At around 6.45am on July 27, the manager of the shop in St John’s Street was told by a colleague that Clarke was in the store. Suspecting he was shoplifting, the manager approached Clarke who was standing in the meat aisle with the door of a chiller open. On asking him to leave the store, Clarke pulled a knife from his trousers and said: “I will stab you, I am taking it.” he then put a number of items in a bag and left, returning again a few seconds later to take a crate of beer. Subsequently, two officers attended Clarke’s home address and arrested him on suspicion of robbery. On searching Clarke’s home address, a man at the property handed officers five packs of Co-Op meat

products and a pack of beer, confirming that Clarke had brought them to the property that morning. When interviewed, Clarke told officers that if he had not been arrested, he would have gone back to the store to “do the tills.” Clarke was sentenced to four years and four months for the robbery, as well as two months for theft and six months for possession of a bladed article to run concurrently. he will remain on license for an additional four years on his release.

Biggleswade Station – one step closer to redevelopment

FoLLowInG a number of meetings held over the last year, led by Alistair Burt MP, and joined by a range of stakeholders, Biggleswade station will shortly be nominated to the ‘Access for All’ scheme to help create step-free access solutions; as well as wider improvements to parking and public transport provision to and from the station. North east Bedfordshire MP Alistair Burt said: “This is an historic campaign that has tried to get improvements a number of times over the years. I am delighted that, with the assistance of local councillors, Central Bedfordshire Council, Biggleswade Town Council, Network rail, Govia Thameslink and local disability campaigners, that we are now a step closer to seeing these efforts pay off. We have held a number of meetings over the past 12 months which have helped to develop proposals and the Council have funded a feasibility study which shows the commitment to improving Biggleswade Station and ensuring we have a strong case to put forward.” The Access for All programme is a Government funded initiative to support stations to create an obstacle free, accessible route from the station entrance to the platform. With £300m funding available, it is a competitive scheme and bids must show they have well evidenced support from the local community. Mr Burt is asking for constituents to contact him by 17th October 2018 to show their support for the

improvements in order that these can be included as part of the application. Constituents can email alistair.burt.mp@parliament.uk, or by dropping a letter into his Biggleswade office at North east Bedfordshire Conservative Association, St Andrew’s Street. As the process develops, there will be a chance for full public consultation of the ideas being considered, but support for the initial concept of redevelopment will be very useful at this stage.

The window was forensically examined by Bedfordshire Police scenes of crime officers, and a fingerprint sample was recovered from a piece of broken glass found outside the house. This was then matched to Fellowes. extensive damage. “The force is dedicated to investigating burglary and we will always pursue offenders of this callous crime.”

Front-line officers to use body-worn cameras CEntrAL Bedfordshire Council will be providing its community safety and traffic and parking officers with new body cameras. the 21 new wearable cameras will be used from this thursday (11 october) and any offenders will be warned that the video evidence may be used in future prosecutions. the introduction of body cameras to front-line council officers will help to improve their evidence gathering, inspection and monitoring procedures, and increase the safety and well-being of the council staff. the cameras will be worn overtly on a lanyard or fitted to the officer’s jacket, but they will only be activated when necessary. the camera has a screen that is clearly visible to the person being spoken to, and which displays the live footage being taken by the camera lens. the public will also be advised by the officer that a recording is being made. the cameras will be used in public and in private premises, and

they record both sound and video. Councillor Ian Dalgarno, Executive Member for Community services at Central Bedfordshire Council, said: “we have invested in cuttingedge technology to help us serve the communities in our area better, and to keep them safer. “the cameras will allow front-line council officers to gather firsthand video and audio evidence of an incident. they will give staff confidence when dealing with confrontational individuals, and will help to increase public confidence in the way we collect evidence. “Body cameras are increasingly used by the police and by other local authorities. they are not intended as a replacement for other methods of evidencegathering, but are an additional tool to support our investigations. Footage can help to clearly show the impact and extent of antisocial behaviour, which can otherwise be difficult to describe in a written statement.”

The programme will enable students who are passionate about rugby to build this into their studies at a top performing Sixth Form College, identified as the 11th best Sixth Form College in the Sunday Times list 2017. Students will not only benefit from the expertise of Blues Community, but also gain a greater

Young footballers score free rail travel

SIx up-and-coming footballers from Luton, Stevenage, Knebworth, hitchin and Sandy have scored free travel on Great Northern and Thameslink for their sports education in London thanks to train operator Govia Thameslink railway (GTr). The young men, from Bedfordshire and hertfordshire, were struggling to afford the daily travel needed for their BTeC in Sports at the Lee Valley Pro:Direct Academy in north London. GTr’s employee engagement Manager Paula hilliard was able to help out. Danny Payne, the Academy’s head of Coaching, said: “Without this free travel support from GTr the lads would not be able to be a part of the Pro:Direct Academy. They now have the chance to chase their football dream while carrying on their academic studies, which we hope will give them great options and great potential when they finish their two years with us. We can’t thank GTr and Paula enough.” The soccer students are

Hockey success for Bedford boy BeDFOrD School boy Joshua Stewart is set to make an impact on the hockey pitch as he has been selected for the u15 england hockey Centre Programme (east). The offer came shortly after Joshua attended pre-trials at Old Loughtonians earlier this summer. he was just one of the two out-field players selected from Bedfordshire. Joshua will start the programme at the end of September and will train at Northwood most Monday evenings. At the end of the programme Joshua hopes that he will be selected for the Futures Cup: seen as the pinnacle of a player’s pathway to the england squad. Director of hockey, Mr Sam Mee, told us, “This is an excellent opportunity for Joshua to train and play with the best players from the east region. Joshua worked extremely hard during the first stages of selection and now he has his rewards for that. he knows that this is hopefully just a step along the way to achieving big things on a hockey pitch over the next few years.

Bedford drag racer celebrates at National Championship finals

OVer the past weekend, the National Drag racing finals were held at Santa Pod (Podington). Local racer Paul Brown made it his third win in two different classes in six years. Originally from Oakley, Paul now lives in Bedford with his partner Zoe. Paul says: “This is by far the toughest season of racing I have ever had. But I’ve managed to pretty much do everything apart from getting an event win! Perfect eT and Perfect Light Award, No.1 Qualifier and event runner up. With only four events this season you could not afford to make a mistake in qualifying or eliminations as there was always someone very close chasing your tail. “A massive thank you to everyone in this photo. They have given up a huge amount of time and effort in all different ways to allow me a chance to be out on the track. Proposed merger of Flitwick school and pre-school

A JOINT preliminary consultation has been launched to gauge demand for a proposed merger of Templefield Lower School and Windmill PreSchool. The change put forward by the governing body of Templefield and the committee for Windmill, who share a site, would require the school to lower its age range from 4-9 to 2-9 years for the start of the September 2019 term. The proposals will not affect the age at which children are admitted into pre-school or the school’s determined admissions agreements, but would see the governing body take over the management of the pre-school. If the five-week consultation concludes that

there is an appetite for a merger, the school’s governing body and pre-school committee will then submit a request to Central Bedfordshire Council for the local authority to consider a change of age range through a statutory process. Debbie Trivett, Templefield Lower School headteacher, said: “A merger will have a range of benefits, including opportunities for pre-school children to utilise all of the school’s facilities; further access to early support and interventions for those children with additional needs; and access to before and after school care provision for parents of pre-school children.” As part of the preliminary consultation process drop-ins are to be held at Templefield Lower

School’s hall on: • thursday 11 october from 9.00 to 10.00am • And tuesday 16 october from 5.30 to 7.00pm Further information, including how you can have your say can be found on the school’s website at: http://www.templefield-lower.co.uk/latest-newsdocuments/ Alternatively, you can write to the Chair of Governors, Mr Gary Flavell, at Templefield Lower School, Malham Close, Flitwick, Bedfordshire MK45 1AJ; or email chair.te@templefield.cbeds.co.uk. responses to the consultation are required by 3:30pm on 6 November.

Restoration Project regenerates areas of heathland across Greensand Country A PrOJeCT funded by the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership is working with the rSPB, The Greensand Trust and The Wildlife Trust to create better habitats and improve the chances of colonisation on heathlands across the landscape. Greensand Country, an area of distinct, beautiful and loved countryside stretching from Leighton Buzzard to Gamlingay, has already seen some exciting results from the landscape partnership’s Living heathlands project. Last month, The rSPB announced that, thanks to the restoration of heathland on the reserve, nightjars are breeding at The Lodge in Sandy for the first time in 45 years. In partnership with the Wildlife Trust, the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership is restoring the largest surviving area of heathland in Bedfordshire, at Coopers hill, by removing scrub, bracken and trees so that underlying heather can thrive. Meanwhile at rushmere Country Park, The Greensand Trust is introducing grazing cattle to help manage the heath, as well as creating guided walks to help people explore the new heathland. In addition to the three sites identified for regeneration at the beginning of the project, the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership, has

supported The Greensand Trust in acquiring an additional 17acre site, Shire Oak heath, adjacent to rushmere Country Park, which has almost reached its £50,000 fundraising target, in order for it to begin restoration work. Claire Poulton, Programme Manager at the Greensand Country Landscape Partnership explains: “We are thrilled with the huge successes that the Living heathlands project has seen so far. The objective of this project is to create better habitats for wildlife, which provide sustainable homes for a number of species and improve the chances of retention across Greensand Country. “This outcome is important nationally as well as on a local level, as our landscape creates a stepping stone between habitats in the south and north of Great Britain. “As well as continuing to work with partner organisations, we are keen to engage farmers and landowners to create islands and corridors between habitats, in order to establish strong ecological networks that will ensure the long term growth and success of these sites.” The Greensand Country Landscape Partnership has grants of between £500 to £15,000 to help communities and landowners improve the natural

and community heritage of the Greensand Country. We can cover up to 70% of a project’s total cost. Living heaths & Working Woodlands Projects could include: l Small woodland/hedgerow planting l Creating wildflower meadows l Creating nature corridors

l restoring heathland or acid grassland

l Managing woodlands

l Introducing conservation grazing For further information and to apply for a grant email: team@greensandcountry.com with a brief description (no more than 200 words) of your project and location. To find out more about Greensand Country visit greensandcountry.com, and for regular updates follow @greensandsocial on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The Greensand Country Landscape Partnership is led by the Bedfordshire rural Communities Charity and the Greensand Trust and funded by the heritage Lottery Fund. It is made possible by National Lottery players. Without them we couldn’t fund the project.

Coffee and cake for Macmillan It was a morning of tea, cakes and laughter when residents of Charter House, part of Bedford Citizens Housing Association, held their coffee morning in aid of Macmillan. The residents raised more than £150 for the world’s biggest coffee morning. “It is always a pleasure to support this fantastic event,”‘ said Chief Executive of BCHA Marie Taylor. “Our kitchen staff made the excellent cakes which were thoroughly enjoyed by all including visiting relatives. Well done to everyone involved.”

Mill Theatre, Mill Road, Sharnbrook MK44 1NP Monday 5 - Saturday 10 November at 7.30pm.

It’s just like your life... only funnier! This outrageous, puppet-filled, comedy musical about a university graduate finding his way in New York City is filled with hilarious songs, innovative dance moves and a rather ‘adult’ scene. When Princeton moves into a shabby area of New York, all the way out on Avenue Q, all he wants to do

is find his purpose. But, as everyone knows, life doesn’t always turn out how you planned, but if you have an interesting array of friends in all col-ours, shapes and furs around you… Well, anything can happen! This is a truly gut-bustingly funny and unique show that will defi-nitely make you feel “special”. Sesame Street was never like this! All together now... the Internet is for... Parental guidance is suggested for children under 15 due to its adult content.

Danni Nicholls ahead of her appearance at the Stables

THURSDAY OCTOBER 11, 2018 — 23

headlining the Jim Marshall Auditorium at The Stables, Wavendon, Milton Keynes, next month is Danni Nicholls. The November 10 concert will be her first time headlining the venue’s main stage and she is super excited to be there. Danni, a former pupil of Mark rutherford School Bedford, describes her music as ‘Americana’. So what exactly is Americana? “It’s a melting pot of American roots styles” says Danni who goes on to quote Jed hilly, CeO of the Americana Music Association who says you’ll know Americana “if you can taste the dirt through your ears,”. One of Danni’s biggest musical influences is her grandmother, who has always had a love of country and rock n roll “I was brought up on this stuff; Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, elvis. I have mixed some other genres and influences in to create my own sound”. The past year has seen Bedford born and based Danni Nicholls supporting the legendary Shakin’ Stevens on 28 dates of his major uK tour, opening for Lucinda Williams, The Secret Sisters and playing prestigious festivals all over the world, the most recent being at The Long road Festival. Danni’s album ‘Mockingbird Lane’ was nominated ‘uK Album of the Year’ and Danni herself ‘uK Artist of the Year’ by the Americana Music Association plus ‘Best Country/Folk Artist’ for the unsigned Music Awards. Bob harris, radio 2 “absolutely love(s) the elegance and beauty of her music” with a growing reputation as one of the uK’s leading artists. Danni was asked who she would like to perform with: “Ideally Johnny Cash, but alas, that’s not going to happen, so it has to be Brandi Carlile.” Danni has made several trips to Nashville, Tennessee teaming up with some of the best writers and musicians in the business, to co-write and record her songs. She has released two studio albums so far, ‘A Little redemption’ (2013) and ‘Mockingbird Lane’ (2015) Danni has also made a live album in conjunction with Vintage TV. her next studio album ‘The Melted Morning’ is set for release Spring 2019. Win takes Hatters up to eighth in table LUton town .............................................3 (2) sCUnthorPE UnItED .............................2 (1) 6 OCTOBer 2018

eNTerTAINING Luton held on to claim victory in a five-goal thriller at Kenilworth road on Saturday. The hatters dominated for long periods and looked to be cruising at 3-1 up with goals from harry Cornick, elliott Lee and substitute James Justine. however, an injurytime strike from Stephen humphrys set up a frantic finale as Luton held out for victory. Town took the lead out of the blue on 10 minutes when a long ball over the top released Cornick. his horrible first touch looked to have let him down but he somehow slid in to keep the ball in and his toe-poke took it beyond Jak Alnwick and into the far bottom corner. however, that lead was shortlived as the Iron equalised seven minutes later. A half-cleared corner was headed back into the box to leave two Scunthorpe men free. Josh Morris forced an excellent save from James Shea but Lee Novak was on hand to stab the rebound home past the outstretched boot of Sonny Bradley.

A great sliding tackle from Dan Potts on ryan Colclough drew fruitless shouts for a penalty from the away support and soon after the hatters were ahead. A swift counter was led by Jorge Grant on 26 minutes and he laid it off to Lee who unleashed an unstoppable left-foot drive into the corner. Great closing down work by James Collins then allowed him to skip into the box only to drag his effort from a tight angle into the side netting. At the other end united should have levelled when Novak wriggled free in the area and Lee Morris was inches away from poking home. More good play from the hatters then saw Jack Stacey whip in a great

an equaliser by the linesman’s flag on 68 minutes. A deep cross was headed back across goal by Matthew Lund and as Novak stooped to head home Luton were massively relieved to see the flag. That served as a warning as Town came storming back into the game. Great play by Mpanzu and Justin saw Collins turn an effort straight at the keeper before the pair were at it again on 71 minutes. Mpanzu brilliantly road several challenges and threaded it through to Justin who was chopped down on the very edge of the area and Clarke was only shown a yellow card when a red could easily have been given. HARRY CORNICK.

cross to the far post where Collins saw his header beaten away by the keeper. Injury forced Lee off late on before Grant twice delivered dangerous set-pieces in the closing moments as Town led 2-1 at the break. Weather conditions continued to make things difficult after the break as Jordan Clarke sent a header wide from a free-kick early on. Scunthorpe looked far more dangerous as humphrys then let fly from long range and Glen rea’s attempted block could have looped over Shea, but the keeper took a step back to save comfortably. After Luton had bossed the first half, united were taking control of the second. Funso Ojo fired over, while a series of set-pieces continued to cause Town problems. ELLIOT LEE.

A searching ball forward by rea found Collins and, although he was forced wide, he squeezed in a shot that was palmed away and then cleared. Another forceful run by Collins almost created another chance for the hatters before the Iron were denied

PALMED AWAY

WASTED FREE-KICK

Grant fired the resulting free-kick wastefully over before more good football from the Town saw Grant tee Cornick up but his effort was shut down. Cornick’s pace was causing havoc but the final ball was again missing as rea headed wide from another corner won by the attacker. Justin stormed the length of the pitch after a defensive corner but twice saw crosses blocked out before seemingly making the game safe with four minutes to play. More exquisite play saw Stacey and rea exchange passes with the right-back squaring for Justin to fire home from close range. The final stages saw the game break wide open as Cornick released

Stacey and as his shot was pushed away as Collins fired over the rebound with the net gaping. A frantic finale though was set up when humphrys stole in to steer home in stoppage time. Bizarrely, five minutes of injury time was added as Town held on to make it five unbeaten with two straight wins and move eighth in the table. JAMES JUSTIN.
