STUDIO PRACTICE Statement of Intent Name
Blog Address
Date Rationale My aim for the module is to produce strong work that I am proud of that will contribute towards creating a professional portfolio. I want to push myself in areas both analogue and digital so that I have full knowledge and understanding on how to use these methods to the best I can. Thus, gaining more confidence in my practice and improve on my ability to talk about my work. I plan to take part in competitions and get involved with as much as I can to get myself out there. I also aim to book tables at craft fairs and events across the country over the year so that I have a head start for when I leave. Therefore, I need to have a good body of work ready to take further to sell.

Brief 1: Tuesday’s Toy
Deadline
On-Going
Rationale:
Every Tuesday I aim to post a new toy to my blog and on social media. This will be beneficial in keeping my audience engaged and potentially noticed by more people. Also, it will keep a consistency within my practice by having regular posts. In addition, by doing this brief I will be able to improve and experiment on my process and character design.
Brief 2: Greetings Cards, Gift wrap and Tags.
Deadline
March 11th
Rationale:
I intend to create a Greetings Cards/Wrapping Paper and gift tag range that you would see in independent creative shops, or shops that specialise in Cards and stationary like Paperchase and Scribbler. I really enjoyed doing the WrappedCo mini brief last year, which was the trigger for creating this brief. I will create work for 6 different occasions and then 3 designs for each occasion. This brief will help with my character design and working in repeat pattern. Also, it will give me knowledge on the market and target audience.
Brief 3: D&AD – Shutterstock
Deadline
March 16th
Rationale: Choosing a D&AD brief is a great opportunity to win amazing prizes and awards and to get my work out in the professional world. Because the deadline is so absolute it will push me to be more disciplined with my punctuality and time management and to finish to a high standard. The brief itself will push me away from my comfort zone a bit but this should add some depth and strength to my practise.
Brief 4: Carmelite Prize 2016
Deadline
April 15th
Rationale: I think that this brief is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for an Illustrator. I haven’t particularly done many children’s book illustrations and I am exited at the thought of it. By doing this it’ll help me work along side a story and to think about not the obvious and what would look visually appealing. This brief has the last deadline so I will be able to spend a lot of time dedicated into making sure it is to the highest standard.
Brief 5: Ohh Deer
Deadline
Rationale: Ohh Deer is a place that I aspire to have my work a part of. The competition was to
submit 4 designs that would be placed onto cushions. The deadline for this has passed and I completed this brief.
