STUDIO PRACTICE Statement of Intent Name Blog Address: http://rRosie Fairholm fairholm1316sp.blogspot.co.uk Date 19/05/16 Rationale My aim for the module is to produce strong work that I am proud of that will contribute towards creating a professional portfolio. I want to push myself in areas both analogue and digital, so that I have full knowledge and understanding on how to use these methods to the best I can. Thus, gaining more confidence in my practise and improve on my ability to talk about my work. I plan to take part in competitions and get involved with as much as I can to get myself and my work out there. I also aim to book tables at craft fairs and events across the country over the year so that I have a head start for when I leave. Therefore, I need to have a good body of work ready to take further to sell and put across products. Brief 1: Tuesday’s Toy

Deadline

Weekly Project – Ended March 2016

Rationale: Every Tuesday I aim to produce a new toy to my blog and on social media. This will be beneficial in keeping my audience engaged and potentially noticed by more people. Also, it will keep a consistency within my practise by having regular posts. In addition, by doing this brief I will be able to improve and experiment on my process and character design.

Brief 2: Greetings Cards and Tags.

Deadline

March 2016

Rationale: I intend to create a range of Greetings Cards and Tags. A range that you would see in independent creative shops, or shops that specialise in cards and stationary like Paperchase and Scribbler. I want to create cards for 6 occasions and 5 designs for each. This brief will help with my character design. It will also give me knowledge on the market and target audience.

Brief 3: Printed Textiles Collaboration

Deadline

December 2015

Rationale: Printed Textiles student Freya Williams asked to do a collaboration with me. She created patterns and prints based on Mexican and British influences and research. My role was to illustrate 6 models to wear the fabrics and represented the influences.

Brief 4: Carmelite Prize 2016

Deadline

14th April 2016

Rationale: this was a competition brief given by The Hachette Children’s Group. The brief was to illustrate a story written by author Cressida Cowell. The book was about a house cat wanting to go outside for an adventure.

Brief 5: Tea Posies.

Deadline

On-‐going

Rationale: a woman who is setting up her own online business selling herbal and fruit teas approached me. The business is called Tea Posies, and I have been asked to design her a logo. I have expanded this brief to creating designs for the different flavours, the packaging and various other products.

Additional Project Proposals

Brief 6: Corn Exchange Craft and Gift fair – May 14th I booked a table at the Corn Exchange to run a stall at the craft fair event. I shared a table with Fine Art student, Mia Allonby. I produced a range of different products, from stickers to plush toys. Brief 7: Bloop Group – On-‐going Orlaith, Sophie, Jessie and myself have formed a group named Bloop Group. Together we have volunteered for Anorak Magazine at various events. The first event was at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park where we planned and delivered our own workshop. The second event was D&AD in London, there we also brought our workshop and helped out with others. Brief 8: Crispin Orthotics – 14th April 2016 The brief was to create designs to go on orthoses for various parts of the body. They were to appeal to all ages. Brief 9 – Final Project – 19th April To take what I had learnt from SB1 and to create a plush toy range based on the theme of a Sweet Shop. There is no boundary on scale. And to also create the packaging in which they would be seen. Also, there needs to be a consistent branding for the ROH TOTS range.
