STUDIO PRACTICE Statement of Intent Name Blog Address Rosie Fairholm Date 19/10/15 Rationale For this module my aim is to come out with a strong portfolio that displays my range of skills. I want to push myself in areas both analogue and digital so that I will have full knowledge and understanding on how to use these methods to the best I can. Which therefore I hope to gain more confidence in my work and improve on my ability to be able to talk about my practise. I Want to take part in competitions and get involved with as much as I can and get myself out there. I am too late to enter for this year but I would like to get involved with different craft fairs around the country so potentially book some tables for summer and have work to put in. Which will give myself a bit of a head start for when I leave. Brief 1: Tuesday’s Toy

Deadline

On-‐going

Rationale:

Every Tuesday I aim to post a new toy to my blog and on social media. This will be good to have consistant and regular posts online to keep my audience engaged and potentially noticed by more people. By doing this I will be able to improve on my process and character. Brief 2: Greetings Cards and Wrapping Paper Deadline Rationale: I intend to create a Greetings card and wrapping paper range that you would see in places like Paperchase and Scribbler. I really enjoyed doing the WrappedCo. Mini brief last year, which triggered the idea for creating this brief. They will be for numerous occasions and holidays. This will help with my character design and working with repeat patterns. Also, I will gain more knowledge on the market and target audience.

Brief 3: YCN

Deadline

2016

Rationale: Choosing a YCN brief I believe is a great opportunity to win amazing prizes and get my work out in the professional world. Because YCN briefs are so absolute it will push me to be disciplined with my punctuality and time management and to get my work to the highest standard.

Brief 4: Loop-de-loop

Deadline

Monthly

Rationale: Animation is probably one of the main areas where I am least confident but I feel ready to give it another go as I did enjoy it last year. Loop-de-loop gives a one word topic each month so it is very broad and a lot of freedom which I like. I would like to end this year with a better knowledge of the process.

Brief 5: Ohh Deer

Deadline

06/10/15

Rationale: Ohh Deer is a place that I aspire to have my work a part of. The competition is to submit 4 designs that would be put onto cushions. I want to create a character that will be put across all four cushions to keep them consistent and create a minimal colour scheme. I need to look at other illustrator that have printed products on their site to see what they already like to go for and to give me an idea of what will be suitable for them.
