Skip the line for the train It may not be the right time to mention this, but tomorrow you will be heading home again. If you want to make perfectly sure to skip the long lines for the train, you can already now pop over to the booking office at the festival station and reserve a seat on the train. You can buy all kinds of train tickets to national and international destinations, including seat reservations. If you purchase your ticket here the festival station, you can avoid the potentially long lines in Roskilde and in Copenhagen.

30,000 raincoats in storage There is probably not much demand for this, but Roskilde Festival actually has 30,000 raincoats in storage, which are to be handed out for free in case of acute rain. The idea of waterproof raincoats was realized in a collaboration between Roskilde and TrygFonden, which has also resulted in the distribution of 75,000 earplugs this year. Luckily, the stored raincoats can be saved for next year…or the following year!

Still a calm festival

Protect the hearing of the audience One of the initiatives – made in collaboration between the town Roskilde, Roskilde Police and the festival - involves formulating a sound policy aimed at workers and audience at Roskilde Festival. ”We try to ensure that the guests’ ears are protected through development of sound systems, levelled speakers and pauses between the concerts,” says Paul Jensen who is responsible for sound and lighting on the stages. In 2006, a sound limit on 104 dB was implemented for

concerts on Orange Stage, and in 2007 the sound level on the other stages was reduced with 1 dB. Rules of The Danish Working Environment Authority say that on a normal working day of eight hours, you should not be exposed to more than 85 dB. The festival workers at the stages therefore use mandatory earmuffs. Research done by the hearing aid company Oticon shows that 76% of the time on the festival, the audience is actually not exposed to more decibels than recommended by legislation. In a new initiative this year, Roskilde Festival is cooperating with TrygFonden who has donated 75,000 sets of ear plugs, distributed to everyone at the entrances together with the wristbands and programmes. The initiative is a national campaign, and this year all visitors at Danish festivals receive a free set of ear plugs.

The Danish association of folk high schools, who until 2007 annually put up the well-attended poetry tent, had to pull up stakes due to poor economy. The spokesman says ‘the collaboration was so successful, that we have chosen to take a break and see what happens’.

Roskilde Police have registered 190 thefts, two cases of minor violence and a number of drug- related offences. A Norwegian who was hospitalized Wednesday, is still in critical condition. In total, the police though describe the festival as being very calm. In the course of the festival’s first five days, the police have confiscated twice as much hash as during all of last year’s festival. ‘We have not had more cases but the amount confiscated in each case is much bigger’ says Bent Stavad Andersen, who is in charge of the police at Roskilde Festival, to the Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende.

In Denmark, there are no rules on the sound level at concerts, and only neighbours and workers are protected by law. Several initiatives are currently focusing on the discomfort and injuries such as temporary or permanent hearing damage and tinnitus – damages often occurring for concert-goers because of loud music.

Did you know… …that you risk being asked a lot of questions about yourself at the festival? The Festival has sent out hundreds of volunteers out to do examinations about opinions, habits and wishes of the audience. The answers are used for the planning of future Festivals.

”It is a beer festival!” There is beer here, there and everywhere at Roskilde Festival PHOTO: JESSICA IDSTRÖ M

You are standing in the pit in front of Orange Stage at a completely packed Radiohead concert. You get a little thirsty, but the free water passed around does not really quench that thirst. But do not worry – the beer is also here. Sixty volunteers all in all walk around during the Festival’s concerts in front of Orange Stage and sell cold Tuborg. “People want beer. So we are practically everywhere,” Claus Christiansen explains. Since 2005, he has been responsible for the Beverage Section and is thereby responsible for getting the festival-goers all beer that they want.

The festival goers preferably have to drink them, while they’re cold. And then come back and buy more CLAUS CHRISTIANSEN

there are seventeen beverage stalls selling beer. From the smallest stall east of Arena Stage to the biggest at Service Centre West, the section’s 3000 volunteers ensure that people and beer come together. During the festival week around 1,000,000 litres of beer are sold. More than 400 volunteers roll frames with canned beer out on

an assembly line from two huge trailers and into the beer tent. Those two trailers contain more than 140,000 cans of beer. A few years ago a remarkable record was beaten here – in less than one minute volunteers moved an entire pallet with thirty beer frames from the trailer to the costumer’s hands. It is going to be a good year “The festival goers preferably have to drink them, while they’re cold. And then come back and buy more,” says Claus Christiansen with a wry smile. He has been working for the festival since 1976 and started out as a fence guard. Since then he has been responsible for check-in, admissions and service, before he assumed the major responsibility for the beer at the festival. In this way, Claus Christiansen’s qualification is more the broad knowledge about the festival than about beer “I don’t know a thing about beer; except I can drink it.” However, by now

he has also certain knowledge about selling beer, and he counts on having a good year. “We are not going to reach the record year of 2006, but we’re getting close. It is a beer festival after all.” STEFAN SINGH KAILAY TRANSLATION: MINNA JULIE KOLTE

House of Beer In Fusetown there is a different beer stall. Here a bar by the name “House of Beer” has been built, where you can buy foreign speciality beers. Among others they sell Stella Artois, Straopramen and Sol. In a proper October fest style, you can also get German draught beer in large one litre tankards. “House of Beer” is also one of the places at the Festival where you can also get cold cider.

Scottish Mogwai was a bit of a dark horse in this year’s Roskilde programme. It has been a while since they last made an album that seriously took them steps further, and it is still not possible to consider the newest album ’Hawk Is Howling’, which is not released until September. However, Mogwai was also a dark horse in the sense that it was the most evil band at this festival. And this in spite of the fact that Slayer plays here as well. Why? Three weeks. That was the time span it took to get rid of the ringing sound in my ears after my first Mogwai gig. In spite of this, they delivered the best concert I ever experienced a year later in Sweden. Two contradictions. Darkness and light. The show at Arena fell right between the two poles. During the concert, a Scotsman kept

reminding me that I had to use earplugs because this would become loud. That was old news. But it never got that hysterically loud. In the most intense moments, like ’Like Herod’ with many flashes of cacophony, the stage tent almost seemed to elevate. Unlike most others, Mogwai understands how to incite the end of the world. It’s misanthropic, bitter, miserable and downright evil music. Stuart Braithwaite, who in many ways has become the key figure in the band though Mogwai does not really have a lead singer, entered the stage characteristically dressed in a Public Enemy-T-shirt – perhaps the most anti-establishment hip hop act ever. But the contempt for everyone and everything and the stubborn and introvert attitude did not really appear. It was a hushed, well, even cautious Mogwai. Still a cautious Mogwai is better than many others, and our knowledge of the creature from Gremlins tells us that it just can’t stand the light.

The real musical strength, nevertheless, was her vocal which changed between tender singing and mad howling. Every Danish high school rock band ought to be forced to go and see Vieux Farka Touré play. That way they can experience how goddamn tight you can actually play, while looking as if it is the easiest and most pleasant thing in the world. Vieux, who is from Mali, has done a good job of stepping in his father’s (Ali Farka Tourés) footsteps as the guitar king of Africa. But like his father, who was wrongfully placed at Arena in 2005, Vieux had been overmatched at Odeon at 6 pm where only a quarter of the space was filled. He should have been playing late at night in Astoria making it an all-night party. But the five-man-ensemble took the bull by its horns and delivered rocking and rolling desert blues fronted by impressive baselines, whirling drums and guitar sounds, which at times had the nature of a snake charmer

Sitting on sand bags underneath a sky of crystal chandeliers, an impressively big crowd chose to skip its beauty sleep to see a genuine Danish chanteuse. ‘My name is Jomi Massage’ greeted Signe Høirup Wille-Jørgensen who is also known from the cult band Speaker Bite Me. During the entire concert, Jomi twirled and purred like a pussycat wanting to be petted, and even though she was mostly sitting on a chair, she moved her body similarly to a belly dancer. Two mavericks started the party of the night gnarls barkley Orange Stage Friday 5 pm

When the sun is shining, dance feet everywhere are ready to get moving. That is why Roskilde Festival had had the foresight to invite the two American merry mavericks Gnarls Barkley to an early afternoon party in front of Orange Stage. And there was enough room for everyone who wanted to shout “Maybe I’m Crazy” without having to throw an apologising glance back over one’s shoulder. In the company of the mysterious and consistently talented keyboard player Danger Mouse and the light-hearted lead

singer Cee-Lo, no one is too Crazy to be left out. With his muscular body, bulging biceps and broad shoulders covered in colourful tattoos Cee-Lo looks mostly like a discharged convict from one of the worst prison in the US. Fortunately, Cee-Lo is a grinning gentleman with a soulful voice, and his only ‘dangerous’ feature is his contagious charm, and he easily gets away with asking his female audience to show him their breasts. Despite this, the wonderful voice and the great charm are not enough to keep the party going at its boiling point. Whereas the modern soul songs on Gnarls Barkley’s two albums varies nicely between a hard-pumped expression that goes straight to your head and a more introvert expression that goes straight

to your heart, the latter often fell short of the almost insatiable audience. That is why initially Gnarls Barkley had to go through a couple of lukewarm songs before they could kick it with their latest hit single ‘Run’. Afterwards, the intensity alternatively rose and fell during the merely one-hour-long concert – at the end of which Gnarls Barkley left the stage without a proper goodbye, but at least with a decently delivered warm-up to the coming all-night party. But with a few more infectious dance hits up their sleeves, their next visit might not just be a warmup but the highlight of the party. Amplified Grinder grinderman Orange Stage Friday 10.30 pm

PHoto: Thomas Arnbo

One of this year’s bravest moves from Roskilde Festival must be putting Grinderman as a headliner on the poster with the best playing time on a Friday night. Despite the fact that the oldest grinderman in the four-piece is the ’prince of darkness’, Nick Cave, the Australian singer’s project is hardly on the minds or mp3

players of that many of the festival’s younger guests. If you still chose to watch the 50-year-old singer go on stage wearing a very youthful college jacket he claimed to have borrowed from Michael Jackson, you would witness how electric charges came right at you. Because with Grinderman Nick Cave has dumped his trademark, the terrific sense of aesthetic melodies. Instead, the older fans in the front rows and the perhaps not so much fans further in the back received a powerful holler of in-yourface rock‘n’roll which has

found inspiration from Iggy and the Stooges-style 70s punk rock and experimental German kraut-rock.The majority of last year’s debut album was played along with a newly written song with a very energetic Nick Cave way in front on guitar and vocals and a perhaps even more energetic Warren Ellis who spent the majority of an hour smashing a set of maracas onto a set of cymbals. And did he smash that thing! Exactly like the ’poor’ cymbals, in the best moments it felt like a wonderful punch getting Grinder-

Robyn Roskilde Cosmopol Friday 10 pm

In the middle of the rock festival called Roskilde, Robyn gave a fantastic concert and placed a giant pop fist in the teeth of everybody who would have anything bad to say about her music. There wasn’t many of those in the packed Cosmopol tent. The audience couldn’t get enough of the little pop queen who gave two encores full of beat-driven synthpop. And it was really good. Most of all because the 29-year-old Swede is an impressive performer. With loads of dense energy, she charmed the audience with smiles and sexy attitude, like when she felt herself up a little and played her cover of Prince’s ’Jack U Off’ as one of the first encore songs. But of course it isn’t all show – Robyn also has an impressive song catalogue. Not least thanks to her latest, self-titled album which really brought her away from the labels’ hit template, and with a great mix of synth-pop, hip hop and general playfulness gave her lots of ’street cred’ again. The songs from ’Robyn’ dominated the set where

man’s raw and unpolished rock right in the face. And that punch was given already in the beginning when Nick Cave shouted, “Get it on”, while he gestured with his arms like a jumping jack with too much liquor in the blood. The four grindermen didn’t stay as much ‘on’ when the tempo along the way was lowered. Without a constant roaring tempo it seemed as if the point with the project went lost instead of fanning the flames. Therefore, Grinderman’s late playroom for aging stagers was more of a breath of

The clock ticked 6.30 pm Friday evening when Veto took to the stage in the gigantic Arena tent. And when they left the stage one fantastic hour and fifteen minutes later, all you could complain about was that the quintet from Århus had not taken on the Orange Stage Thursday evening at 6.30 pm instead. While Teitur was kind of a letdown as the opening name on the great stage, Veto’s electronic energy would without a doubt have worked wonders on that same stage. Thanks to the combination of an extremely effective band and extremely devoted crowd, the Danish stage show was elevated to international standards. The audience was

The focus of the session was lead vocalist Troels Abrahamsen – with a full beard and full control over his elastic voice which now and then bordered on the hysterical. But on the other hand, it only created more hysteria among the crowd which responded willingly with a consistent applause even at times when major turned into minor and the dancing was replaced by gloom. “God damn”, the front man had to exclaim during the concert. And with five consecutive and super sharp encores, climax was reached with the rough ‘Built to Fail’, which created ecstasy in the crowded and festive tent like a Danish version of French style electro filled with distortion and digital crashes. The Danish opening of Roskilde Festival came 24 hours too late. But it was well worth the wait. Christian Boier soundvenue Translation: Rebekka Kirk

The confessions of band of horses Roskilde Arena Friday 4 pm

photo: thomas kjær

”This is my Roskilde-highlight so far,” the person next to me said towards the end of the Band of Horses concert, and with that comment he hit the nail right on its head. The band certainly delivered a very fine concert that will leave traces years ahead. Such moments are not just forgotten just because the next pint of beer runs into the bloodstream. The concert was too good and the band too energetic for that. Band of Horses is the story of a band, whose lead singer Benjamin Bridwell once lived on the streets of Seattle. That scenario has changed dramatically, and Benjamin Bridwell and the rest of his pals in Band of Horses have achieved great success with their grandiose rock music. First with the debut album ’Everything All the Time’ from 2006, which was praised by the reviewers, and last year with the follow-up ’Cease to Begin’, which produced a hit on the major Danish radio channel P3; namely ’Is There a Ghost’.

This was also the opening track of the band’s Arena concert, and the audience immediately started applauding and singing along loudly. That really set things straight, and Band of Horses could hardly fail. And of course they didn’t. One excellent, passionate and

This is my Roskildehighlight so far

heart-breaking song after the other was served for a thirsty audience that lapped up every single drop. The refund came in the form of vigorous cheers, and Benjamin Bridwell said several times that this was the best crowd they had ever played for. A lot of musicians say that, but this time it seemed sincere. The lead singer and the rest of the band also looked everything but a crowd of melancholics when they entered the stage. Benjamin Bridwell wearing a chequered shirt, sunglasses, a huge beard and his body covered in tattoos. Bass player Rob Hampton completed the picture with his trucker-cap and goatee beard, but the picture certainly changed

when the band started playing. So much nerve and soul that it seemed difficult to grasp it all at one time. Musically, the live songs were close to the studio versions, but that is quite all

sophisticated songs live so that the chills keep coming. And we also got to hear a new song with a sublime bass groove and a solid chorus. That bodes really well for the upcoming album. Everything culminated in the sad love story ‘Knocked Up’ where Caleb Followill with his characteristic phrasings and heartfelt presence underlined why he is one of the very best singers of his generation. “God bless you, we’re Kings of Leon,” was the parting shot from Caleb Followill. It may not have been divine but with majestic self-confidence, Kings of Leon were uncrowned kings of the Orange Stage this Friday night. Jesper Borchmann soundvenue

Family collective Kings of Leon from Tennessee, US has set out to conquer all giant stages of the world. They really want to be big. Many colleagues before them have failed under the orange tent canvas in Roskilde and have had to realise that the meeting with the gigantic open space and the many thousand people did not result in the expected triumph. If anyone would think that Kings of Leon would suffer the same fate, then such prophesies were put to shame yesterday evening. If Thursday’s Radiohead concert was a subtle show of well-played elegance – well,

then Kings of Leon brought back rock to the Orange Stage with an excellent performance. In about an hour and a half, brothers Caleb, Jared, Nathan and cousin Matthew got well around the back catalogue. We were served dirty and aggressive Southern state garage rock in the songs from the two first albums, ’Youth and Young Manhood’ and ’Aha Shake Heartbreak’. Lead by Matthew Followill’s forceful guitar play, the concert was nothing less than tough rocking, and the electric punches had an enviable energy and intensity. And if things leaned a bit towards pub rock, the four-piece added samples from last year’s brilliant ’Because of the Times’. With ’On Call’ and ’Arizona’, Kings of Leon demonstrated that they easily manage to deliver more complex and melodically

Were you bored too, Kate? A fifty-minute long concert did not display much of the potential Kate Nash has otherwise shown on her debut album ‘Made of Bricks’. It was, however, a promising start with ‘Pumpkin Soup’ and ‘Shit Song’ revitalising the piano and baring her vocal chords. But then she got up and went for the acoustic guitar after which the concert suffered a drawn-out, almost silent death. The change from swearing pop rock to boring violin- and ukuleleinspired songs might work in a smoky Cockney pub, but on Odeon Nash just faded into the midday haze. ‘Do Waa Do’ nicely followed by ‘Mouthwash’ got the party going again and when the swear words returned, the atmosphere got back the edge it had been missing. On the few occasions that the band beat the life out of the organ and the drums, the crowd responded with a cry for more that was not really acknowledged. And perhaps A Kid Hereafter will be better at losing their inhibitions and letting it rip when they are playing their grindcore metal-set on Saturday. It has yet to be seen, because their straightforward, raw and clownish rock performance was a pretty forgettable experience.

about screwing and getting hammered, the crowd’s empathetic grins faded and the news value of A Kid Hereafter drowned in the dust of Roskilde Festival. The concert did not get any better when the band had to keep taking annoying breaks to tune their instruments while the lead singer stepped up to the challenge and cracked some more or less exciting jokes until the next burst of ordinary pop rock was catapulted from the edge of the stage.

was of course fashionably late – we waited for a whole quarter of an hour – and looked like the definition of cool. From here she guided the crowd through a 30-minute set of highoctane, genre-jumping hipster-pop. Already when the first jungle drums gave sound in the opening song, the crowd had put away all grumpiness because of the waiting time, and when she shortly after played the hit ’L.E.S. Artistes’, the entire tent was convinced. The songs all came from the self-titled debut which is unfortunately something of a messy affair. But unlike the album where ska-punk competes with electronic beats, White had chosen to go for the latter. That was a good decision. With picks from both dub, grime, hip hop and electronica, one

right when the set list comprises that many beautiful tracks and there is no reason for changing anything. The band tested a couple of new songs that had a clear ’country-feel’ to them, but

Frederik Thaae entered the stage wearing a silvercoloured suit and an enormous full-beard while jumping around with his tongue hanging out the corner of his mouth. The rest of the 6 mand strong band followed later in silver-coloured hel-

mets. And there they were, snug as 6 bright disco balls while they were smiling at the crowd. It was a pretty energetic and entertaining performance, but it takes more than gimmicks to create a good concert. After 2-3 tracks

Pure African rhythm petrol Sweaty political hip hop from Dakar and trance from Kenya. Roskilde offers plenty of music from Africa.

Hip hop back at its roots The word is musical and humans always carry a story. The oral storytelling, improvised and rhythmical, is a central part of the entire continent. At its birth in the US, Hip hop was a social communicative platform. Breakdance, battle, and improvisations in circled crowds have clear references to traditional dancing in African villages. This is urban hip hop from Africa. For Senegalese rapper Awadi, the social and political consciousness is his trademark. He is one of the pioneers within Dakar hip hop and he has published albums with the band Positive Black Soul as well as three solo albums – latest Sunugaal (‘our canoe’) – about the daily tragedies of West African boat refugees. This is the real everyday hip hop from the red soil of Africa. Tumi, from Johannesburg in South Africa, raps elegantly and with edge on top of the funky grooves of the backing group The Volume. It is no surprise that he has performed with Talib, Kweli, Saul Williams and Black Thought. When Tumi is storming at us in a verbal locomotive, the literary kettles are steaming. Smoky and sweaty.

From Johannesburg in the south to Dakar in the west and Nairobi in the east. Musicians with a lot on their minds and with pure rhythm petrol for danceable Roskilde-bones will visit this year’s Roskilde Festival. The African continent offers urban-hiphop, desert-blues, afro-house and trance.

Guitar in African It will not be the late African desert-blues king Ali, but his son Vieux Farka Touré, who will be paying us a visit from the musical treasury of Mali. A new star is rising. Besides the fathering blues, reggae, and western rock are significant sources of inspiration to Vieux’s modernisation of tradition. Warm and inviting.

From neighbouring country Niger – which may be even hotter – we find Mamar Kassey, a collection of the most talented musicians of the country with a long and awkward history. Yacouba Moumouni is the head of the virtuoso with his vocal and a so-called peul flute. It is energetic melodies and rhythms as dry as the dust from the Saharan deserts.

FRÉDÉRIC GALLIANO KUDURO SOUND SYSTEM Heavy and sexy beats (Saturday at 21.00 on Cosmopol)

Kenge Kenges Trance from Kenya (Friday at 15.00 on Cosmopol)

Back in Kenya in Nairobi, American rock band Golden got together with Kenyan benga-group Extra Solar System, and they quickly formed Extra Golden. With their respective musical traditions as a platform, the guitarists entwine their instruments in new, golden, and at times psychedelic bonds. It is musical meditation between two continents and two languages.

Hard ass and trained ears French DJ Fredéric Galliano has Angolese kuduristas (DJs) in the Kuduro Sound System. Kuduro is Angola’s very own dance music – the word means exactly what you get: hard ass! It is music from the busy, dusty, and slummy cities which at night let the soul burn to the heavy and sexy beats.

Smokey and sweaty as a verbal locomotive (Saturday at 16.00 on Cosmopol)

Kenyan Kenge Kenges’ music is trance-provoking, but not in a boom-tji-boomtji kind of way as we know it from provincial discos. The eight-person orchestra of Luo origin strikes up with traditional instruments: drums, flutes, and cool strings. No continual refrains but plenty of time to let the music takes over the rhythm of the body.

Extra Golden

Some people cynically refer to Africa as “The chronic guilty conscience of the West”, but at Roskilde ‘08 you will find just a small selection of the enormous musical abundance that the continent offers. Africa shares a musical wealth which - in its own right - is enough to ensure that we do not forget the continent.

HELP. Copenhagen youngsters increasingly find their way to a psychologist to be treated for depression. Since the option of a publicly subsidized visit with a psychologist for people between the ages of 18 to 37 was introduced on April 1st, more people have, according to the Copenhagen radio station P4 København, sought help for light or moderate depressions. P4 København has called a number of psychologists in the region and the response shows that psychologists do feel the effect of the threemonth-year-old system – among others Birgitte Skovgaard, a psychologist who runs a private practice: »It’s definitely positive, because we know that the sooner we get the treatment started, the sooner the effort can be made, which in turn increases the likelihood of overcoming the problems so that they don’t become more

A public subsidy has increasingly made youngsters seek help for depression Psychological help • Since April st this year general physicians have been able to refer patients between ages  to  suffering light or moderate depressions to a psychologist. • The referral ensures that the treatment is publicly subsidized. • The collective labor agreement between the regions and the Danish Psychological Association means that in future the regions will be paying  percent of psychologist expenses.

The sooner the treatment starts, the sooner the effort can be made.

permanent,« she explains. Despite the excitement over making treatment accessible to more, the Danish Psychological Association has spotted a fly in the ointment. President Roald Ulrichsen does not see why this option should be limited to a specific age group. »There’s no academic or professional argument to select a specific age group between 18 and 37,« he notes to P4 København and points out that he is hoping that everyone will be allowed public subsidies next time the regions negotiate. »If a depression is left untreated, it may worsen, which means that you will withdraw from the job market and from the family. In this instance I’m thinking of those who get a depression and have children. You simply don’t have the energy and that requires treatment,« he says. METROXPRESS

Scandinavian Airlines put their money on homosexuals Scandinavian Airlines now address themselves directly to gays and lesbians. With their new website Flysas.com/gay, SAS is the first European airline to launch a website with travel tips for homosexuals – for instance there is a guide for the best gay bars and an overview of gay events and hang-outs in Copenhagen. And such efforts are worthwhile, says Lars Münter, Communications Advisor with Compleks Kommunikation, to the news site Berlingske.dk. Gays and lesbians tend to have a lot of money – primarily because they do not have children – that they like to spend on experiences. Mikkel Løndahl, Communication Consultant for SAS Denmark, does concede that it is an interesting customer group for the company. The corporate love is not exclusive and other companies that have tried to attract homosexuals include 3F, Ikea and Ibm. METROXPRESS

GAY VENTURE.

A few years ago, a couple of girls came and asked us if we had found their brains MARIANNE THOMSEN

At the moment, Marianne Thomsen is in charge of the office for lost property at Service Centre East and has a lot of stories to tell from the place. People mainly hand in bags and mobile phones, but I have even witnessed a couple of girls who handed in

they had found,” Marianne says. It is teeming with people at the lost and found office, where most come in the hope of finding things they have lost. Mathilde Jeppesen from Copenhagen has lost both mobile phone and Master card but has had no luck recovering them today. “I lost my things on Sunday on the way back from soccer. Now I have no other choice than to retrace my steps and see if I can find my stuff,” she says. According to Marianne Thomsen, the office for lost

the festival guests. However, she would have liked it if people would think twice once in a while. “Yesterday I saw three girls put down their bags on the ground before they started dancing around. They would not at all have noticed it if the bags had been taken,” says Marianne, who think that wallets and mobiles easily fall out of pockets when people are dancing around like crazy.

“A few years ago, a couple of girls came and asked us if we had found their brains,” Marianne Thomsen says and laughs. ‘They were very intoxicated and apparently they hoped to find them here.”

Marianne Thomsen hopes that as much as possible will be collected. Marianne Thomsen says ‘We have a database where we register the lost property that has a name on it. But usually you can also see it in their eyes when people encounter their own things.” Even though Mathilde Jeppesen did not find her lost things today, she is still in good mood. “Of course it is annoying,” she says. “But there is still lots of beer.” KRISTIAN KROG KÆMSGAARD TRANSLATION: REBEKKA KIRK
